Nagababu Gave Masala Advise To Varun Tej

Share

After scoring back to back disasters in the initial days of his career, tall chap Varun Tej finally proved his mettle with Kanche, Fidaa, and Tholiprema. But the flop show of Antariksham is said to be haunting him big time, though he knows that the film won’t work big time at the box office.

Unexpectedly Antariksham lost all the takers in a couple of days time though the makers have defended that one should never see the logic in a film. As the content is not some brain-teasing or heart-hitting, it lost craze, pushing Varun Tej into a confusion mode. We hear that Nagababu gave him a ‘masala’ advise now.

As Varun Tej is also coming up with F2 movie, Nagababu is said to have advised him to do more of masala films than these social dramas and experimental flicks. He’s said to have told that such out-of-the-box concepts gave flops, even to Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Will Varun heed to his father’s advised? Or will he continue picking such films? Only time has the answer.

Trivikram Working For Lady Superstar?

Share

Nayanthara is being called as Lady Superstar by Kollywood media and her fans. The actress has been churning out a series of blockbusters and that too with female oriented films. However, after Anamika, Nayan has hardly acted in a straight Telugu film which had her in a pivotal role.

But a source close to the development has exclusively informed that Nayan is now keen on acting in a Telugu film with a female-oriented story. Apparently, one of Tollywood top production houses Haarika and Hassini Creations banner will be bankrolling this project.

It’s a known fact that Trivikram is a key decision maker at Haarika and Hassini. He and his team are currently on a hunt to choose the right lady oriented script which will give a new image to Nayanthara in Tollywood. Let’s wait for more details to emerge.

Comedian Ali’s Airport Meeting With YS Jagan

Share

Political entry of any other normal person won’t make much news, but the entry of a cinema celebrity will often create ripples. Such talk is quite common around comedian Ali who is looking forward to entering politics from some time.

As Ali belongs to a minority community, surely political parties will be betting on him in a place where the presence of his community is relatively high. During 2014 election, Ali, who was close to Telugudesam Party back then, is said to have asked for a ticket from Guntur. As the party refused to give him, he stayed quiet.

Now, as the picture of him meeting YSR Congress president YS Jagan has emerged other day, rumors are rife that he is going the fan’s way. However, he is said to have met Jagan when they encountered each other at an airport and traveled towards the flight in a bus. there seems to be no political importance to this meet.

All said and done, Ali is keen to contest in 2019, but didn’t have clarity on which party ticket.

I have no undisputed tax payable, says Mahesh Babu

Share

Hyderabad: Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu on Friday clarified that he has no undisputed tax payable and that he is a law abiding citizen complying with all fiscal legislation.

The legal team of the actor released the statement a day after the Goods and Service Tax (GST) commissionerate, Hyderabad attached his two bank accounts for failing to pay service tax of Rs 18.5 lakh for the financial year 2007-08.

According to the commissionerate, the accounts were seized to retrieve Rs 73.5 lakh including interest and penalty.

A statement from Mahesh Babu’s team said the GST commissionerate attached the bank accounts for a disputed tax demand of Rs 18.5 lakh claiming Rs 73.5 lakh towards tax interest and the penalty for brand ambassador services rendered during 2007-08.

The actor pointed out that the brand ambassador services were not taxable as the same were brought in the statute book only in 2010.

“The GST commissionerate, Hyderabad has carried out the attachment without notice when several judicial pronouncements on this issue are in favour of the taxpayer and more so when the dispute is pending before the high court,” said the statement from Mahesh Babu’s team.

Nothing Wrong With Naidu, Says Uttam

Share

The Congress party, which is desperate to build up an anti-BJP alliance at the national level in the run-up to the general elections in 2019, does not want to antagonise Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

In fact, rumblings have begun in the Telangana Congress leaders soon after the party’s debacle in the recent assembly elections.

Some of the party leaders like star campaigner Vijayashanti, MLA T Jagga Reddy and PCC campaign committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka openly expressed their views stating that the campaign by Naidu had done more damage than good to the party in the elections, as Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao fully exploited the Telangana self-respect sentiment.

However, the Congress leadership does not want to shift the blame on Naidu in the larger interests of the grand alliance at the national level.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday virtually gave a clean chit to Naidu, stating that the latter had no role in the defeat of the Congress party in the assembly elections.

“I don’t think Naidu’s campaign in the elections was the cause of the Congress party’s debacle in the elections. There are several other reasons for it. I feel it would have been better had the seat sharing among the alliance partners was completed a little earlier,” he said.

At the same time, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress party would soon take a call on continuing the alliance with the TDP in the coming elections, too.

“We shall discuss with AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs R C Khuntia and come to a decision in this regard,” he said.

He said the party is making an introspection for its defeat in the elections.

“We submitted a preliminary report to the high command and a final report will be sent in three or four days,” Uttam said.

The power of PoE: Adding Power to IoT

Share

As networks get smarter, network infrastructure needs to get simpler. Once IoT (Internet of Things) applications scale up, the number of connected devices will increase exponentially, making infrastructure provisioning increasingly complex. The connected world needs a solution that converges power and data infrastructure to cater to triple-play services and power consumption demands of edge network assets. A smart way to do this is to re-engineer category cable design and technical standards for enhanced business and operational performance.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is the new buzzword, which will shape the network ecosystem of tomorrow. Human civilization is on a pursuit to digitize the globe. Be it digital transformation, Internet of Things (IoT), mobility of the future, NextGen wireless (such as 802.11ac Wave 2 and 802.11ax), and smart devices solutions and deployments have been a testament to rapid growth in the period 2015-20.

Globally, data usage is growing at unprecedented rates, driven by the multiplier effect of more users, more devices per user, more content per device. In 2015 annual global IP traffic crossed 1 Zettabyte (ZB), and is expected to exceed 4 ZB in the next five years (1ZB = 1021TB). Per capita data consumption is set to multiply nearly five times in the next three years!

Exponential growth in both consumer and enterprise led data consumption demands more digitization and technology innovation. This data driven civilization is 24X7 ON, tracking, monitoring, producing data and among this connectivity is the key to make all this efficient and seamless.

IoT Market Growth and Drivers

The global Internet of Things (IoT) market1 will be worth US$1.1 trillion in revenue by 2025 as market value shifts from connectivity to platforms, applications and services, according to new data from GSMA Intelligence. By that point, there will be more than 25 billion IoT connections (cellular2 and non-cellular), driven largely by growth in the industrial IoT market. The Asia Pacific region is forecast to become the largest global IoT region in terms of both connections and revenue3

IoT revenue opportunity is shifting away from simply connecting devices to addressing specific sectors with tailored solutions, and successful ecosystem players will need to adapt their business models in line with these market trends. Connected industry equipment, smart city and smart energy projects constitutes more than 50% of the current IoT projects.

-As per Cisco, number of connected devices registered in 2015 was nearly 15 billion, by 2020F its likely to reach 50 billion.

-By 2020F 5 billion people would be connect through connected devices, each person using 10 devices on an average – World Economic Forum

-The contribution of Industrial Internet will be nearly US$15 trillion by 2030F as per Global Electronics

Like these data points, IoT as a digitizing catalyst is itself amazing, exponential and puts forward opportunities for tremendous growth and better living.

In the future it is clear then IoT will be a major driver for data growth. Some of the major technological trends which are estimated to propel IoT to the forecasted tipping point are:

-Decreasing cost per CPU memory and storage, this enables better data storage and analytics

-Wider acceptance and wide availability of devices such as sensors

-Reduced cost of data plans, more cash available for investment in large processing systems

-Development of cloud and edge computing, these offer flexible data repositories options

-Convergence of information technology, operational excellence and connected devices

Structured and Converged cabling is the solution

Structured Cabling is the standardized architecture and components for communications cabling specified by the TIA/ISO standards used as a voluntary standard by manufacturers to ensure interoperability. Structured Cabling is defined as building or campus telecommunications cabling infrastructure that consists of a number of standardized smaller elements (structured). A properly designed and installed system that provides a cabling infrastructure that delivers predictable performance as well as has the flexibility to accommodate moves, adds and changes; maximizes system availability, provides redundancy; and future proofs the usability of the cabling system. A structured cabling system is flexible, reliable and highly efficient for moving, adding and changing the infrastructure as the network grows.

-The IoT environment continues to evolve and cabling is one of the critical factors in determining usable bandwidth in a network and its operational costs

-Choice of cabling can have a big influence on temperature rise and energy costs

Benefits of structured cabling compared to unstructured cabling:

-Easy scalability and adaptability to future growth needs

-Easy to install, repair and replace

-Standardized and modular design enables quick and easy replacements and upgrades.

-Easy integration and support to multimedia content and enterprise solutions such as video conferencing

-Unified and modular cabling helps in easy diagnosis and monitoring

-Overall higher ROI and improved efficiency

Similarly, the case of converged communications infrastructures brings in a series of benefits. Traditionally various applications such as high speed Ethernet, VoIP, HD video streaming, HVAC and advanced metering have been operated in silo’s. Converged cabling solutions merges all these applications over a common cabling infrastructure. By using a unified cable medium and transmitting signals using a common protocol allows data single point control and data analysis features. Converged cabling used in conjunction with IoT can help achieve enhanced performance and value. This helps in achieving true machine to machine communication.

The distinction between data and equipment types into their own separate cabinets and outlets, makes it easy to streamline connectivity. One of the most common mistakes in unstructured cabling is running power cables in proximity to data cables. This leads to creation of noise in network and thus reduce efficiency. Structured and converged cabling takes such instances into account from the start and helps achieve structured network setup.

PoE: Multiple services, Unified cabling

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is popular LAN switching technology. This technology helps in providing DC power at endpoint over copper Ethernet cable. DC power is transmitted from Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) over the existing twisted pair Ethernet cable. This twisted pair Ethernet cable enables connectivity in the Powered Devices (PD) such as IP phones, video cameras, wireless access points, point-of-sale machines, access control card readers, LED luminaires, and other industrial and building automation applications. This technique helps in reducing the capital expenditure and in turn brings down the return of investment (ROI) of the project.

Step by step overview of power transfer from source to device: (Signature detection process)

PoE capability evolution

PoE devices power supply has been standardized according to IEEE 802.3 generation specifications. The PoE life cycle generation is represented by the short form “af,” or PoE, “at” or PoE+, and “bt” or PoE++.

Responding to growing market and end user demand, new IEEE 802.3bt standard offers a host of new features and capabilities, such as support for highly efficient 4-pair power delivery, and channel definitions for 2.5 gigabits per second (Gbps), 5 Gbps, and 10 Gbps PoE operations, among others. Ratified in September 2018, the new specification also boosts the maximum power that power sourcing equipment (PSEs) are capable of by a factor of three, expanding it from 30 to 90 watts, and elevates the power level for powered devices (PDs) to 71.3 watts. Additionally, IEEE 802.3bt doubles the number of supported classes from four to eight, addressing Type 3 and 4 devices for both PSEs and PDs between 4 – 90 watts and 3.84 – 71.3 watts respectively.

Li-Fi: NextGen PoE for future

Li-Fi is an innovative way of wireless communication that uses LED lights to transmit data wirelessly. The technology uses Visible Light Communication (VLC), a medium that uses visible light between 400 and 800 TeraHertz (THz – It works just like switching a torch on and off according to a certain pattern can relay a secret message, flicking an LED on and off at extreme speeds can be used to write and transmit things in binary code. This means that it accommodates a photo-detector to receive light signals and a signal processing element to convert the data into ‘stream-able’ content.

An LED light bulb is a semi-conductor light source meaning that the constant current of electricity supplied to an LED light bulb can be dipped and dimmed, up and down at extremely high speeds, without being visible to the human eye. The tiny changes in the rapid dimming of LED bulbs are then converted by the ‘receiver’ into electrical signal. The signal is then converted back into a binary data stream that we would recognize as web, video and audio applications that run on internet enables devices. It is a Visible Light Communication (VLC) medium and utilizes visible light of electromagnetic spectrum. The visible spectrum ranges 400 – 800 THz is utilized for data transmission and illumination. Data is transmitted as fast pulses of light in wireless medium. Key components of a basic Li-Fi system include:

-An illuminating device such as LED

-A receiving device as silicon photodiode, to receive visible light

The input data is encoded as 0 or 1 into VLC, 0 means OFF and 1 means ON. ON or OFF operation is done as flickering operation of LED in ultra-fast pace not noticeable by human eye. In the receiving end a sensor such as silicon photodiode decodes the signal and reflects it in output device.

Global Market Insights recently released a report predicting the Li-Fi market will reach USD 9 Billion by 2023. It can support both enterprise networks and mobile wireless networks and provide a partial energy-efficient solution to the high energy power consumption of base stations. With the ability to transmit power and data via a single networking cable, PoE eliminates the expense of installing additional electrical circuitry. If network installers can rely on PoE to deploy LED lighting, and Li-Fi can rely on existing LED lights to transmit Li-Fi, PoE can easily be used to power Li-Fi.

Possible use cases of LiFi:

Conclusion

PoE has become a vital part in Global digital transformation journey. The advantages of structured cabling and PoE are multifold and upcoming industry trends indicate wider acceptance of same. Twisted Pair is best suited cabling media to support emerging applications such as data, video and voice communications, as well as simultaneously powering communication equipment, such as wireless access points, cameras and LED lighting etc. A Cat 6A onward can successfully transmit data across the full 100 m channel not only provides an extra margin of performance, but also supports a wider range of data centre and network configurations.

Gen X: Owning Their Failures

Share

A prominent aspect of Tollywood is that no hero admits that his film is a flop. There can be many reasons for this such as pressure from fans, competition from other heroes, their own egos etc. But the new crop of heroes has no such inhibitions.

When NOTA failed at the box-office, Vijay Devarakonda admitted the same on Twitter and said he would work hard to give a better film to his fans.

Similarly, speaking about Antariksham, Varun Tej said it was not the kind of film that would work in B and C centres. He also said that had they invested another Rs 10 crore in the film, the output could have been even better.

Speaking about Padi Padi Leche Manasu, Sharwanand tweeted, “I had a lot of expectations from this film. But I respect the reviews and will keep working hard.”

Raj Tarun also had no embarrassment in owning up to the failure of Rangula Ratnam.

In admitting their failures, these heroes are proving that they are grounded and that is half the battle won as they can then retain their sense of judgement and improve on their choice of scripts.

A refreshing change indeed in the industry.

Five films whose super-success surprised everyone

Share

There are successes and there are also-rans. Then there are those which catch everyone by surprise. Five films came from nowhere and hit the top bar, taking the audience by surprise. Here’s a salute to the magnificient five of the year.

“Stree”: Not much was expected from this spooky satire about a smalltown tailor, played by Rajkummar Rao who falls in love with a mysterious girl who may be a chudail (witch). Rao’s ‘Vicky pleej’ dialogue was heard all across Hindustan.

Folklore met a campy horror in this mix of myth and mirth which proved its worth. A huge moneyearner, this was a film where supernatural beliefs are dragged to the extremes of self-parody and then dragged back up, panting, puffing and gasping for breath. It served up a delicious, voluptuous mishmash of terror and titillation all titivated in loads of guffaws.

To sustain the mood of mirth during times of terror is not easy. Stree managed it. The producers and director Raj-DK hoped to make a tidy profit. It cracked the magical 100-crore collection. Take a bow, you alumni of the cool ghoul school.

“Parmanu”: John Abraham’s glorious comeback fought against all odds. It was a troubled project with the producers (one of them John) at loggerheads. Legal wangles, financial chaos and all other hurdles were somehow surmounted. John bravely released this noble, if a little trite, nationalistic film about India’s first nucleur explosions.

Director Abhishek Sharma had his heart in the right place, though the budgetry constraints showed up on many occasions. The plot was new to audiences and they just fell for it. Belying all boxoffice predictions, Parmanu made huge profits. Everyone associated with this project deserves a standing ovation.

“Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety”: Who would have expected this non-star rom-com with pronounced misogynist leanings to swish past the 100-crore mark? Director Luv Ranjan is still reeling from the news. And after seeing this bromance-versus-romance about an overpossessive friend (Kartik Aaryan) creating insurmountable hurdles in his best friend’s love life and marriage, we are reeling too.

The repartees in “Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety” just rolled off the characters’ tongues making them sound sassy and sombre even when they were being mean and vicious, just because it suits the script’s purposes. And God knows, this film needed no excuse to let the words flow. The wickedest, meanest comedy of the year, it turned Kartik Aryan into an overnight superstar.

“Veere Di Wedding”: Sparkling with humour and warmth, eyecatching locations and irresistible glamour made this Kareena-Sonam-Swara Bhaskar-Shikha Talania chick flick a chic trick and freak hit that had us all hooked. This film was great fun to watch.

The quartet of gorgeous women were more entertaining than the four guys in Dil Chahta Hai. One of whom had famously said: “You can’t improve on perfection.” True, but you can do a helluva lot with imperfection. Especially if you have the wealth to play around with to hide your ongoing bouts of gaffes and faux pas.

“Veere Di Wedding” was one helluva joyride, a designer’s delight and yet not quite the airheaded experience it loudly proclaimed itself to be.

“Raid”: The fifth surprise 100-crore earner of the year was a one-note plot about an income-tax raid carried out on the fortified premises of a wily politician in Uttar Pradesh, who threw his weight around, because he had a lot of it to throw.

Let’s say, if in Padmaavat Allauddin Khilji was not after the beauteous queen but instead after her husband’s wealth, then you get the picture in “Raid”. Ajay Devgan and Saurabh Shukla played off against one another in this smash-the-fortress video-game-on-wheels with vigour and robustness.

Bluff Master Review: Boring Bluffs

Share

2018 is going to end with two new releases. The last film to hit the screens this year is Satya Dev starrer ‘Bluff Master’.

Let’s find out is merits and demerits

Story:
Uttam Kumar (Satya Dev) is a con man who believes that as long people are greedy they can be duped.

He dupes several people but what he doesn’t expect that there are forces that would use his tricks to involve him in a mess.

He marries a girl (Nandita Swetha) and decides to live simple life with her leaving the bluff master’s job. But he is forced to pull off a last trick by a gunda (Aditya Menon).

Artistes’ Performances:
Satya Dev is very sincere in his effort. However, he doesn’t suit for this role at all. Swetha Nandita irritates with her over action. Prudhvi is okay.

Sijju as police officer and Temper Vamsi are neat. Aditya Menon’s character lacks depth.

Technical Excellence:
The film has decent production values. Cinematography is neat. Dialogues are its main asset. Some punch lines have worked out well.

Highlights:
Some bits
Dialogues

Drawback:
Boring second half
Too easy con acts
Lethargic narration
Predictablity

Analysis
“Bluff Master” is remake of 2014 hit Tamil movie “Sathuranga Vettai”. The original movie was structured into episodes, which provided some uniqueness to the regular story of a conman.

Telugu director Gopi has removed this aspect and narrated it in plain way and this is change he has done has worked against to the movie. Other than this, he has been faithful to the Tamil con thriller but he has failed to narrate it in gripping way.

A movie about conman works only when the tricks are interesting or the bluffs that he pulls off are enjoyable. But like the screenplay of “Bluff Master”, the con acts are also utterly predictable. There are no major turns and twists.

The screenplay runs on expected lines and along the way tests the patience. Few minutes into the second half, one gets the deja vu feel and wishes it to be ended quickly.

The so-called sentiment scene between heroine and a villain character is full of melodrama that reminds 80’s movies and moreover Nandita goes overboard in her expressions making the watching experience even more unbearable.

Even the character graph of lead actor is uneven. He is presented as remorseless guy in the beginning but he changes his heart suddenly and confidently. The romantic track between hero and heroine doesn’t convince at all. Why she falls for him?

This Bluff Master pulls off tricks like selling snakes as lucky mascots, duping people with multiple-marketing tricks. And his biggest masterstroke is ‘rice-pulling’, all these con acts were seen in many of our movies.

What are so special about his bluffs? The cons are too easy; the guys who got duped act more like dumb fellows.

Though Satya Dev is talented actor, he has not suited for this conman act. His image of character actor doesn’t suit for this role. The lethargic narration is the main drawback.

All in all, “Bluff Master” doesn’t pull off any interesting tricks, all the games dust bite.

Bottom-line: Corny Masala
