“Baahubali” writer Manoj Muntashir says the film industry is a market and every market has its own set of rules.”The film industry is a market and every market has its own set of rules. The primary one being — the limelight is focused on the most selling commodities,” Muntashir told IANS over an email.
“Till the time your words are dependent on big-ticket actors, foreign locations, multi-crore budgets, forget about the desired respect and accolades.
“The moment your words have an identity of their own, they have a value independent of the gimmicks surrounding them, automatically limelight shifts to you,” he added while responding to the query whether lyricists and dialogue writers are getting their due in Bollywood.
“Legends like Sahir, Majrooh, Anand Bakshi, Salim-Javed have been the most celebrated writers of all times. They commanded their share of prominence, we have to command ours, there are no free lunches in this world,” he added.
What are his future projects?
“Being a workaholic, I don’t know what to do with my time if I am not writing. Obviously, multiple projects are in motion right now: Lyrics for Saina Nehwal biopic, ‘Cheat India’, ‘Body’ and ‘Notebook’.”
Ever since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao dissolved the earlier state assembly on September 6, he had been consistently saying that his party would achieve not less than 100 seats in the 119-member assembly.
His party leaders including his son K T Rama Rao and daughter K Kavitha also used to talk about Mission 100 – of achieving 100 assembly seats. They were aiming at restricting all the opposition parties including the Congress to a single digit.
When the assembly elections were over and results were declared on December 11, the TRS ended up with 88 seats and KCR’s mission fell short of 12 seats, for various reasons including formation of grand alliance of four opposition parties and rebel factor within the TRS.In fact, KCR said the party would have won at least another 17-18 seats, but for the mistakes committed by his own party leaders, particularly in Khammam.
But even after the elections are over, KCR did not stop efforts to accomplish his Mission 100.
Within 24 hours of the declaration of the election results, two independents – Kortukanti Chander Rao from Ramagundam and Ramulu Naik from Wyra met KCR’s son K T Rama Rao and announced their intention to join the TRS.
With their entry into the TRS, the total number of seats of the party mounted to 90. So, another 10 seats are required for the TRS to achieve the Mission 100. So, KCR started bringing pressure on the opposition MLAs to join the TRS.
On the second day itself, he started playing a mind game with the opposition, saying several MLAs from the opposition, particularly from Congress, were showing interest in joining his party.
Names of Congress MLAs such as Haripriya Naik from Yellandu, Vanama Venkateshwar Rao from Kothagudem (both from Khammam district), D Sudhir Reddy from L B Nagar and Sabita Indra Reddy from Maheshwaram (both in Greater Hyderabad); and TDP MLA Macha Nageshwara Rao from Ashwaraopet, were doing rounds in the political circles. Some of them condemned these rumours, while others remained silent.
Apparently, KCR is trying to bring pressure on the opposition MLAs to join the TRS using various tactics like denial of MLA funds for development, ignoring them in all official programmes, fixing them in various cases and also luring them with projects and contracts.
“If not now, at least at a later stages, some of these MLAs will have to join the TRS. In any case, there is support from seven MIM legislators. So, it is not very difficult to achieve the target 100,” a TRS leader said.

After a lot of dilly-dallying, former minister and North Coastal Andhra Development Forum convenor Konathala Ramakrishna is learnt to have made up his mind to join the Telugu Desam Party very soon.
This was evident from his statement on Wednesday that the political situation in the state was turning in favour of the TDP due to divided opposition.
“The political graph of YSR Congress party is gradually coming down, while Jana Sena Party has no organizational structure. The Congress is turning out to be friendly with the TDP.
The other opposition parties – BJP, CPI and CPI (M) are going in diverse paths. Unless the YSRC and Jana Sena are brought together by the BJP, the TDP has better prospects,” he said.
Konathala also praised TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for taking steps for the development of north coastal Andhra, such as releasing of funds for Sujala Sravanthi and other projects, besides expediting several ongoing schemes.
“Since there is not much time for the release of election notification, I will take a decision soon on joining a political party,” he said.
For the last few years, Konathala has been in state of confusion as to which way he should go. There was a talk that the former minister would join the TDP long ago, but Naidu did not take him into the party due to pressures from others like Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
There was also a talk that Konathala might re-join the YSR Congress party which he had quit before 2014 elections. In fact, his close aide and former MLA Gandi Babji was also getting ready to join the YSRC but later, he changed his mind and has been in touch with Jana Sena.
Since Konathala has been writing strongly-worded letters to Naidu over special status, railway zone and other issues, everybody thought he might join the YSRC. But it is learnt there was no response from YSRC to Konathala.
In April, Konathala attended the day-long deeksha organised by TDP at Visakhapatnam on special category status. This gave rise to the impression that he might join the TDP.
May be Naidu is trying for Konathala’s entry as it would strengthen the TDP in north-coastal Andhra.
Many consider Dulquer Salmaan, who set foot in Bollywood this year with the road movie “Karwaan”, to be the best export from the southern filmdom. If the young Malayalam actor’s fan base grew bigger and stronger after his Hindi film debut, Bollywood’s Khiladi, Akshay Kumar, also didn’t leave the audience disappointed with his villainous role in “2.0”. It marked his Tamil debut.
“2.0”, which also stars Rajinikanth, released on November 29. The sci-fi film, made on a budget of Rs 600 crore, grossed Rs 400 crore at the box office worldwide in its opening weekend.
On the other hand, Dulquer, the son of Malayalam megastar Mammootty, chose a film that was made on a much smaller budget. Still, the Akarsh Khurana directorial earned a spot in the top 10 Indian movies of 2018, determined by global movie website IMDb customer ratings.
Earlier this year, Dulquer also made his debut in Telugu with “Mahanati”, based on the life of actress Savitri.
In an interview with IANS, the “Kali” star, who is one of the rare actors to debut four times, had said: “I am not saying that I am entitled to a big debut in Malayalam film or any language.”
But he asserted that his “primary focus will be Malayalam films” and that he will choose from “what comes my way and take a call irrespective of the language”.
His “O Kadhal Kanmani” co-star Nithya Menen has also bagged her first Bollywood film – “Mission Mangal”.
“In the past also, I was offered plenty of Hindi films. I just wanted to be as choosy with Hindi as I was with films in other languages that I have done. I wanted it (debut Hindi film) to be a really nice film,” Nithya told IANS.
“I found this a nice character. I don’t think we have done a film like this… you know, a space film,” added the star, who made her debut as a lead actress with Kannada film “7 O’Clock” over a decade ago.
The upcoming film will also star actresses like Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Vidya Balan.
Vidya will be launched in Telugu film industry with the biopic on legendary actor-politician and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N.T. Rama Rao.
She had said at an event with excitement: “I have never delivered dialogues in another language apart from Hindi. Earlier, I did special appearances for one-two scenes in Malayalam film but in this film, I have a full-fledged role.”
For Aishwarya Devan, who has acted in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada language films, it was her role that pulled her towards the Hindi film “Kaashi in Search of Ganga”.
“I haven’t done many strong roles in south films, so I am very happy that my debut role in Bollywood is of a strong female character,” Aishwarya, who played a journalist in the film, had said.
The year 2018 also saw veteran actress Supriya Pathak making her debut in Telugu filmdom with “Aravindha Sametha Veera Raghava”, helmed by Trivikram Srinivas.
“I really enjoyed working with the people. It was wonderful. My director was a wonderful person. I hope I get an opportunity to work there again,” said the actress, who had starred in the 1985 Malayalam movie “Akalathe Ambili”.
“Those days, a lot of Hindi films were made in south India. Then also, it was much more organised than in Mumbai or north India. My idea of south (Indian film industry) was always that it was more organised and that attracts you because it has got discipline. People are professionals and, still, there is a kind of basic emotion surrounding it and very work-oriented,” said Supriya, whose mother tongue is Gujarati.
Also, Pankaj Tripathi made his Tamil film debut with Rajinikanth film “Kaala” and Bollywood’s dancing diva Madhuri Dixit Nene’s maiden Marathi film “Bucket List” released this year.
Neil Nitin Mukesh, who featured in the 2014 Tamil film “Kaththi” by A.R. Murugadoss, made his Telugu debut with “Kavacham” this month. He will also be seen in Prabhas-starrer “Saaho”, which will be Shraddha Kapoor’s maiden film in Telugu.
While “Saaho” is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019, Malayalam star Nivin Pauly is set to make his presence felt in the Hindi film industry too.
He will be seen in Geetu Mohandas’ bilingual film “Moothon”, which will be released in Hindi and Malayalam.
“The language part is always challenging. For a Malayali actor, I won’t be that comfortable to do a film in Tamil, Telugu or Hindi. I believe we should push ourselves by crossing boundaries. I think every actor should attempt that in their career,” Nivin had told IANS.
“There is one blessed career that God gave us and we shouldn’t be sitting in one place and getting comfortable. There is no harm in trying something new.”
And the audience isn’t complaining.
One film has changed the fortunes of young actor Karthikeya who stormed on to the screen with “RX100”, a runaway hit.
Trade expected that the movie’s heroine Payal Rajput would be flooded with offers as she showed no inhibition in exposing. Instead it is the film’s lead actor Karthikeya who is getting all the offers.
Karthikeya who has no filmy background has proved his mettle with “RX100” and he is now being signed by big banners and new directors.
He is already working in a bilingual movie being produced by ‘Kabali’ producer. Now he has signed another two movies and one of them has officially been announced. Boyapati’s former associate Arjun Jandhyala is directing this film.

Hanu Raghavapudi needs no introduction. He shot to fame with his very debut movie “Andala Rakshasi” and within no time he earned the tag of most-talented director. On the other hand, Venky Kudumula has become sought after filmmaker with his very debut “Chalo” this year. The young directors who hail from the same town have come together for a tête-à-tête with GreatAndhra.com.Hanu Raghavapudi’s “Padi Padi Leche Manasu” featuring Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi is releasing this Friday.
The director says climax of the movie should be the triggering point for a love story.
“There is nothing novel point left to be explored in love stories. I thought climax before penning this story. I have lived in Kolkota for few months in 2007. I have decided to set this story in this city as I know each street and road here. The title Padi Padi Leche Manasu came before the story was written,” he reveals.
Producers complain that Hanu Raghavapudi hikes the production cost as he never completes the schedules on time. To this allegation, the director gives lengthy clarification.
“I shoot films mostly in outdoors. Nothing is under control when we shoot most of the movie outside. That is the prime reason why my movies get delayed,” he says.
“Sai Pallavi is natural actor, she doesn’t act, she lives in the role,” he praises his actress.
“There are times I told her to go overboard just to feel that she’s acting. She is such natural, you don’t feel that she is acting,” he continued.
Chalo director Venky Kudumula hails from Khammam district. Hanu Raghavapudi informs him that he too comes from the same region. Hanu Raghavapudi stepped into the movie industry in the hope of becoming lyricist.
Venky Kudumula prods Hanu further to extract many interesting tidbits from him.

Finally, the notification to bifurcate High court between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has been by President Sri Ram Nath Kovind.
Considering that ‘Justice City’, a temporary High Court, is in final stages of construction, the president notified April 7 as the appointed date for High Court of Andhra Pradesh in Amaravati. Ever since the United Andhra is separated, the lawyers of Telangana have been fighting for bifurcation of High Court as well. But, the centre clarified, “Operations of High Court will begin in AP after the construction of new block in Amaravati.”
Few days ago, the sharing of staff and lawyers is finished among both the states after continuous demand from both the state lawyers.
The Justice City, that is under construction in Nelapadu village, was planned to be finished by this year end. Recently, the high court chief justice and other lawyers visited Justice City and offered a positive report to Supreme Court. As soon as the construction work of High Court is finished by December end, the shifting process will begin post Sankranti-2019.
Officially, the Andhra Pradesh High Court will start its operations from April 7, 2019 (Ugadi).

For certain set of roles, there are certain actresses in Telugu film industry. For a while, the likes of Surekha Vani, Jhansi are the most sought after. Then came heroines like Sindhu Tolani and also Bhumika who tried their luck with it.
Amidst these happenings, we have another heroine turning to Vadina role now. Thanks to her negative role in the latest movie, Vijay’s Sarkar. We are talking about senior hero Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalakshmi, who has tested her luck as a heroine through many films but haven’t succeeded big time.
She is now getting ready to do a vadina role, which marks her Telugu debut. In the upcoming movie of Sandeep Kishan, where Hansika is the heroine, Varalakshmi is likely to play his vadina, in a negative role. Directed by Nageswara Reddy, this film is a comedy caper, but still, it has that dose of drama.
We have to see if Varalakshmi will don a perfect hat in this new role, while her fans don’t want to take up such character roles in her career.

Acting bug is one inevitable thing for star kids and no matter how many times they reject the idea of becoming a hero, they become one. Earlier Akhil also confirmed many times that he wants to become a cricket player, never an actor, but finally he got launched as a hero.
After his brother, Srinivas became a hero, producer Bellamkonda Suresh’s younger son, who used to look quite chubby back then, has stated that he wants to become a producer like his father. And like how Allu Sirish handled production of a couple of films before debuting as a hero, now Bellamkonda Ganesh is getting ready to become one.
According to the grapevine, a newcomer director named Phani is going to direct the debut film of Ganesh, which will be formally launched on December 24th. That marks the entry of another younger brother into films and we have to see if Ganesh could score bigger, unlike his brother.
Meanwhile, dad Bellamkonda Suresh is said to be looking forward to a star heroine to cast opposite his son.
