Mahesh-Sukumar: No Experiments Now!

Share

It’s been early 5 years since 1 Nenokkadine released and ended up as a colossal disaster in both Mahesh Babu and Sukumar’s careers. The duo is all set to join forces for the second time for a high budget project to be bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers.

It looks like Sukumar has learnt a lesson from 1 Nenokkadine’s failure. He has decided to give up his plans to come up with an experimental period drama based on the Razakars movement in Telangana for his next project with Mahesh. But Mahesh didn’t like the story and asked Sukumar to try out a new genre.

Now, Sukumar has penned a pakka commercial film with loads of romance and action. The film will be launched in May. Currently, Sukumar is giving finishing touches to the script and is also busy finalising the cast and crew. More clarity on the project may emerge in a few weeks.

Sankranthi Saves Vinaya Vidheya Rama!

Share

With the poor response and reviews on the first day, many thought ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ would vanish from theatres in no time. Accordingly the second day collections dropped drastically to just Rs 4 crore share.

However, being a typical commercial film and release before holidays have saved ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ from becoming a disaster. The film which had raked up Rs 25 crore on the first day, made Rs 20 crore in the next four days. Summing all these, ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ has collected nearly Rs 50 crore share and is mostly likely to end at Rs 60 crore share. This means the film got away from registering as one of all time biggest flops.

With the weekend around, this will be added advantage to the Ram Charan’s film. Even if the movie would have received an average talk, the success and collections would have been far better, opined many. Director Boyapati Sreenu has wasted a golden opportunity.  Â

KCR, Jagan to hold further talks on proposed front

Share

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday held preliminary talks with YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on the proposed Federal Front and they agreed to hold further talks, sources in the two parties said.

Jagan, as leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, welcomed the initiative and agreed to hold further talks with Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao, when the latter visits Andhra Pradesh.

He told reporters after meeting Rama Rao and other TRS leaders that they had preliminary discussions over the proposed front.

Rama Rao, who is the son of Chandrashekhar Rao, along with three other leaders of the party, met Jagan at his Lotus Pond residence.

After nearly two-hour meeting, KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, and Jagan spoke to the media persons. The TRS leader said KCR, who also spoke to Jagan over phone, would soon visit Andhra Pradesh to hold further talks with him.

KTR said their meeting was part of KCR’s efforts to form a front as an alternative to both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

Jagan said he welcome KCR’s initiative to create a national platform by bringing together like-minded regional parties to fight for the protection of the rights of the states.

He believes that if the regional parties have more strength in Parliament, they could exert pressure on the Centre to undo the injustices to the states. Citing the example of Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP chief said the Centre did not keep the promise of ‘special category’ status, though it was announced in Parliament.

Stating that 25 MPs of Andhra Pradesh may not achieve the special category status but with 17 MPs of Telangana, they could have a strong voice at the Centre.

“If states have to progress, regional parties should unite. The number of their MPs should also increase,” said Jagan.

KTR said TRS had already made its stand clear on the issue of special category status. “The promise made by then Prime Minister in Parliament should be honoured,” he said.

This is the first direct talks between the leaders of the two parties since KCR floated the idea of the Federal Front in 2018.

With Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu working for an anti-BJP front, KCR has decided to rope in YSRCP in his proposed front.

The TRS chief has already held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Janata Dal (United) leader and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and DMK leader M.K. Stalin.

After taking over as the Chief Minister for a second term following the TRS’ victory in December’s elections, KCR intensified his efforts to cobble together the Federal Front.

The stylish star who calls himself as “Southern Star” said that he would continue donating money to his hometown Palakollu from now onwards towards the development. He has declared a donation of Rs 10 lakhs to the temple there.

Interestingly, he also said that Palakollu is his “sonthooru” (his native place) even though he is born in Chennai and brought up in Hyderabad.

For me, Palakollu is my native place, he asserted. His grandfather Allu Ramaligaiah hails from this town in Andhra Pradesh.

He celebrated this Sankranthi festival with his relatives in Palakollu and had interacted with fans and relatives there.

The talk is that he is doing all this to help his friend Bunny Vasu (producer of hits like “Geetha Govindam”) who has dreams of turning politician in the near future (2024). Vasu is slowly creating a platform in Palakollu and is using Bunny’s popularity.

However, Bunny Vasu made it clear that he will not be contesting the elections anytime soon. He has no immediate plans.

NIA To Interrogate ‘Garuda’ Sivaji?

Share

It looks like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating into the knife attack on YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam on October 25 with all seriousness without leaving any scope for any gaps.

Accordingly, NIA authorities who had taken the accused J Srinivas Rao into their custody have been grilling him for several hours over the motive behind his attack on Jagan and to find out whether there was anybody else behind the attack.

The NIA authorities are also questioning the owner of Fusion Foods restaurant owner Harsha Kumar with whom Srinivas had worked to find out how the accused had brought the knife into the restaurant. Their statements are being recorded.

Interestingly, there have been reports that the NIA authorities are planning to summon Telugu Desam Party supporter and film actor Shivaji who made a sensational prediction well in advance that there would be an attack on the life of the opposition leader as part of Operation Garuda so that the state would plunge into political trouble.

His comment even before the attack on Jagan raised serious doubts on the role of several leaders.

The NIA will investigate the case in all angles and bring to light the conspiracy behind the attack on YSR Congress leader soon.

Defected TRS MLCs Disaqualified

Share

As expected, three members of the Telangana state legislative council who defected from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Congress before recent assembly elections were disqualified on Wednesday.

A bulletin to this effect was released by legislative council chairman K Swamy Goud in the afternoon. The disqualified MLCs are: R Bhupati Reddy, Yadava Reddy and Ramulu Naik.

The decision followed a petition submitted by TRS leaders Paturi Sudhakar Reddy and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to Swamy Goud last month. They alleged that the MLCs had shifted loyalties only to further their self-interests.

While the TRS leaders complained against four MLCs who defected to the TRS, the council chairman disqualified three MLCs, while fourth MLC Konda Murali had already resigned from his council membership and it was accepted immediately.

The hurried disqualification without even taking into consideration the appeals made by the three MLCs was taken apparently to facilitate TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to fill up the vacancies arising out of their disqualification with his own party leaders at the earliest.

The obvious question is why the same rule of disqualification was not applied to the Congress and Telugu Desam Party legislators who had defected to the TRS earlier.

For example, four Congress MLCs –Akula Lalitha, Santosh Kumar, M S Prabhakar and K Damodar Reddy also defected to the TRS, but they were not disqualified.

They gave a letter saying they were merging the Congress Legislature Party of the council and resolved to merge it with the TRS legislature party.

Accordingly, they wanted the council chairman to acknowledge them as TRS MLCs. And within a few hours, the council chairman acknowledged their merger!

TRS-YSRCP friendship: Jagan says ‘conditions apply’!

Share

The meeting between TRS working president K T Rama Rao and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday (today) heated up political atmosphere in Telugu States.

The meeting happened a day after Sankranthi, attracted national headlines.

Though TRS sources said the meeting was only to seek Jagan’s support for KCR’s Federal Front, it fuelled speculations that both the parties will work together to defeat TDP in AP Assembly polls.

Though the details of the meeting are yet to be out, it is reliably learnt that YS Jagan has put forth certain conditions before TRS if both TRS and YSRCP have to work together.

He reportedly demanded TRS to support special category status to AP first. Jagan also wanted TRS to write a letter to Centre demanding special status to AP.

KTR is learnt to have told Jagan that they will take up this issue with KCR and take a decision.

Team NTR is shell shocked with the disastrous response for the first part of biopic. The film is heading for a disaster at the box office with not much improvement on festival days too.

Meanwhile, Nadendla’s interviews on YouTube are going viral, which could do further damage to the prospects of NTR biopic.

RGV on the other hand is going all out to promote his Lakshmi’s NTR, which is likely to release ahead of NTR 2.

Catherine shot for Palmolive TV Commercial recently, and it’s going to be a visual feast for the viewers. According to our sources, she signed this lucrative deal last month and the TVC is going to be on air very soon. Savitri Family Very Upset With That Scene!

Share

‘Mahanati’ Savitri has made her family shine back in the limelight after the release of her life’s biopic. And that film’s story has many inputs given by her family members including her daughter and son.

Right now, a rumor is doing rounds that Savitri’s kin are deeply upset with the scene in “NTR Kathanayakudu” where Akkineni Nageswara Rao and NT Rama Rao are taking a class to Savitri over money. The scene actually shows ANR upset with Savitri’s spendthrift nature, while Rama Rao gives a piece of gyaan over spending money.

Reportedly the scenes that got Nitya Menen playing the part, haven’t given any excitement to Savitri’s family as they have portrayed her in a bad light. Though Krish stated in an interview that he has to come up with scenes on Savitri due to Mahanati’s success, maybe they should have avoided negative scenes, they say.

“Both ANR and NTR have gone for heart surgery in the USA due to their non-stop boozing habits. They haven’t shown that in the film, but why mudslinging on Savitri?”, a person close to “Mahanati” movie quizzed.
