Director Parasuram is a shareholder in Geetha Govindam as per prior agreements. He did not take any remuneration and agreed to take a share in the profits.

The film became a mammoth blockbuster bringing huge profits for its makers.

Parasuram has got Rs. 9 crore as his share and producer Allu Aravind has paid him Rs. 10 crore by rounding it off. It is whopping pay check for a smalltime director.

Allu Aravind is so happy with the success of the film that he has given gifts to entire team of Geetha Govindam.

He has gifted gold chains and three months bonus to all the crew that worked on the film.

Geetha Govindam has become one of the biggest blockbusters ever in terms of return on investment.

‘Devadasu’ meets his lady after 12 Yrs!

Share

Energetic hero Ram Pothineni and navel beauty Ileana D’Cruz marked their debut in the year 2006 with ‘Devadasu.’ Post that film, Ram and Ileana haven’t paired despite there were unconfirmed reports.

Well, an actor’s life is always busy and they might or might not get to work with same co-star. But off the screen they maintain cordial relations. So is the case here.

After very long time, Ram and Ileana have met each other and both were excited about it. Ram took it on his official Twitter handle and shared the snaps of their gathering. He further added that it was like meeting his childhood friend.

The energetic hero will be next seen in ‘Hello Guru Prema Kosame’ while Ileana is making a comeback to Tollywood after a long gap with Mass Maharaj’s ‘Amar Akbar Anthony.’

Why can’t we expect another film from this super hit jodi, what say!

Nani Has Mammoth Target to Achieve!

Share

‘Geetha Govindam’ has officially joined Rs 20 Cr club in Nizam area, the biggest single territory for Telugu movies.

As of now, the film’s share stands at Rs 20.20 Cr making it one of all-time highest grossing movies.

This is a share that is not easily achievable for any mid-range hero. Even a phenomenal blockbuster like “Fidaa” didn’t touch the mark.

Actor Nani who has delivered six hits in a row in the recent times now have to work extra hard to reach to this Rs 20 cr club in Nizam area.

His last biggest hit was “MCA” that collected Rs 14.50 cr in Nizam area. Now he has to deliver bigger hit than that to reach Rs 20 Cr mark in Nizam.

He cannot be relaxed now as competition is increasing the mid-range heroes. Today if a film is good, audiences are flocking to the theaters irrespective of the cast and crew. But stars have to deliver bigger hits to prove their strength.

Awesome experience with Nagarjuna sir: Aakanksha

Share

Actress Aakanksha Singh said it was an awesome experience working with Nagarjuna.

“I got to learn a lot from him. He is an amazing person and amazing personality. I never felt like I was working with a star and it is nice to be working with a star but behaves like a normal person,” stated Aakanksha who is all praise of the King.

She said that the biggest highlight of ‘DevaDas’ is the title. “It is all about bromance. When you see the relationship of Deva and Das on the screen, you will get know,” said Aakanksha.

About her role in the movie, this Jaipur beauty replied that she is playing the role of a news reporter and did not reveal more details about it.

Aakanksha said she is fortunate to be working under Vyjayanthi Movies banner after her debut Telugu film.

She added that she is yet to commit any Telugu film and is eagerly waiting for the release of ‘DevaDas’ which is slated on September 27th.

Is Devadas Based on Analyze This?

Share

Earlier there were rumors that Nagarjuna and Nani starrer “Devadas” was remake of Sriram Raghavan’s “Johnny Gaddar” but they turned out to be false.

Producer Ashwini Dutt recently agreed that the basic plot was given by Sriram Raghavan. However, the movie’s trailer gives impression that its story is copied from “Analyse This” (1999).

“Devadas” is all about unlikely friendship between a don (Nagarjuna) and a doctor (Nani). This story is almost similar to Hollywood movie “Analyse This” (1999).

According to IMDB, “Analyse This” is a comedy about a psychiatrist whose number one patient is an insecure mob boss.

“Devadas” is directed by Sriram Aditya whose past two films are average thrillers. Although the movie’s music is not so impressive, the trailer promises lot of entertainment.

Baahubali Distributor Bags NTR Rights

Share

The theatrical rights of ‘NTR’ biopic for Uttarandhra and Krishna regions have been bagged by Sai Korrapati of Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram. This deal is reportedly closed for a fancy amount of Rs 11.40 crore.

Sai also bought the rights of Bengaluru region but this excludes from the above deal. Interestingly Sai has earlier bagged the rights of ‘Baahubali’ for the same regions.

This is a great start for the movie which is turning out to be a hot cake among the traders.

‘NTR’ is based on the life of legendary actor NT Rama Rao and Nandamuri Balakrishna is playing the title role.

The first look of Balakrishna and other supporting cast have garnered very good response. Accordingly the craze for the film is building up too. Krish is directing the movie.

Having closed the rights deal for three regions, many distributors are competing to buy the rights of NTR for their respective regions.

Going by the trend, it appears that ‘NTR’ would definitely make a stunning pre-release business.

Nagarjuna’s Punch To Nani

Share

Heroes Nagarjuna and Nani have come together for the first time for ‘DevaDas’ and this film is all set for a release on September 27th.

The promotions of the film are in full swing and the team of ‘DevaDas’ is coming up with some interesting stuff to grab the audience attention. On that note, hero Nagarjuna has shared a small video and he mocks Nani in it.

Well, Nagarjuna reveals Nani’s biggest addiction which is his phone. The King went on to enact Nani who is always glued to his phone and the video shows Nani from the sets of ‘DevaDas.’

“Even if a beautiful lady passes by Nani doesn’t give a glance. I wonder what he checks all the time in his phone,” added Nagarjuna. Nani is yet to react on this and we have to see how he does.

Lastly the team ‘DevaDas’ asks everyone to tag their annoying friend who is addicted to his/her phone.

Charan Got 22 Cr; So Mahesh Demands 25 Cr?

Share

That’s how our producers count the market figures, rather than relying on the type of content they are coming up with. Here comes a tale of demand from leading producer Dil Raju who wants to make most out of his upcoming film “Maharshi”, featuring Mahesh Babu in the lead.

In the recent times, the moment you turn to any leading Hindi entertainment channel, you will end up watching dubbed Telugu movies. As the market for Telugu dubbed versions are very high now, our makers are also demanding huge sums. Perhaps, that’s why an upcoming film of Ram Charan that has Boyapati Seenu directing it, has fetched 22 crores from Hindi satellite sales.

Taking this into consideration, Dil Raju is now said to be demanding 25 crores from the Hindi circuits to shell out the rights of Maharshi. However, as Charan-Boyapati film is an out and out mass masala movie, Hindi channel paid such high price. Because for any film to be sold, 3-4 fights are a must.

And with talk everywhere that Mahesh will be seen as a software engineer in the USA with college backdrop flashback, it looks like the movie will be low on action elements. For that reason, Maharshi may not fetch a high price, which Dil Raju refuses to believe. We have to see if class-looking Mahesh from Maharshi will really bring home 25 crores.

Shilpa Shetty faces racism at Sydney airport

Share

Actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra on Sunday alleged that she faced an unpleasant experience for being “brown” at the Sydney airport over her cabin luggage. Upset by an official who was curt, she says people’s tone must not change with preference to colour.

Shilpa, who dealt with racism in 2007 when she was a contestant on the fifth season of the British reality show “Celebrity Big Brother” — which she went on to win — faced the latest experience while boarding a plane for Melbourne from Sydney.

The 43-year-old took to Instagram to share the ordeal with a Qantas Airways lady staff member over a cabin luggage, which was deemed as ‘oversized’ at the check-in counter.

A furious Shilpa wrote: “At the check-in counter, met a grumpy Mel (that’s her name) who decided it was ‘okay’ to speak curtly to ‘us’ (brown people!) travelling together. I was flying business and had 2 bags (my allowance) and she insisted and decided my half empty duffel bag was oversized (to check-in), so she sent us to check it in at the other counter dealing with ‘oversized luggage’.

“There a polite lady (yes this one was) said, ‘This is not an oversized bag, please check this in manually if you can at another counter’ (all this happening while the counter is going to shut in five minutes).

“As the manual check-in wasn’t going through for five minutes (we tried), I went upto Mel and requested her to put the bag through as her colleague said it wasn’t an oversized bag. She refused again… Just being adamant especially when I told her this is causing a lot of inconvenience.

“We had no time to waste so we ran to the oversized baggage counter and requested her to put the bag through which she did after I told her that rude Mel had issues! To which another colleague joined in and reiterated my duffle wasn’t oversized and could’ve easily been checked in.”

The “Dhadkan” actress said her intention to narrate her experience is to make Qantas Airways take cognisance of the matter.

“Their staff must be taught to be helpful and tone can’t change with preference to colour. ‘We’ are not pushovers and they must know that being callous and rude will not be tolerated,” she added.

Along with the note, Shilpa also posted a picture of her bag and asked her followers “whether it is oversized or not”.

Green Card May Be Denied Under A New US Proposal That Could Hit Indians

Share

The Trump administration may deny green cards to immigrants who have availed or may avail government benefits including food and cash assistance under new rules which could negatively affect hundreds of thousands of Indians living in the US.

The proposed rule signed by the Homeland Security Secretary on September 21 and posted on the website of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was slammed by the Silicon Valley-based tech industry and political leaders.

According to the rule, foreign immigrants who “seek adjustment of status or a visa, or who are applicants for admission, must establish that they are not likely at any time to become a public charge” unless determined by Congress. Public charge means receiving government benefits.

The latest move to crack down on immigration comes days after the Trump administration told a federal court that its decision to revoke work permits to H-4 visa users, a significant majority of whom are Indian-Americans, is expected within the next three months, a move which will have a major impact on Indian women as they are the major beneficiary of the Obama-era rule.

The DHS proposes to require all immigrants seeking an extension of stay or change of status to demonstrate that they have not received, are not currently receiving, nor are likely to receive public benefits as defined in the proposed rule.

“Under long-standing federal law, those seeking to immigrate to the United States must show they can support themselves financially,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

“The department takes seriously its responsibility to be transparent in its rule-making and is welcoming public comment on the proposed rule.

“This proposed rule will implement a law passed by Congress intended to promote immigrant self-sufficiency and protect finite resources by ensuring that they are not likely to become burdens on American taxpayers,” she said.

Expressing its opposition to the proposed rule, FWD.US, which represents companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Dropbox, Yahoo and Google, said it “is a backdoor” administrative end-run to substantially reduce legal immigration that, if implemented, will hurt the entire country.

“This policy will cost the United States in the long run by limiting the contributions of hardworking immigrants who could become legal residents, and no one is better off because of it,” FWD.us president Todd Schulte said.

It would create a subjective criteria and overly-bureaucratic process when making a public charge determination. It is “another underhanded attempt to force cuts to legal immigration, ultimately hurting our communities and country,” Mr Schulte said.

The proposed public charge rule is nothing less than a public disgrace – and a direct attack on the health, housing, and economic security of American children, said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

“Our federal government should not be in the business of penalising low-income parents, punishing kids, or targeting immigrants who work hard, strengthen our economy, pay taxes, and play by the rules,” Mr Garcetti said.

The legislation could have a major impact on Indians, mostly from the tech industry working in the US.

As of April, there were 632,219 Indian immigrants and their spouses and minor children waiting for green cards.

According to US Citizenship and Immigration Services, in all 306,400 primary Indian applicants are waiting for their green cards. Clubbed with their spouses and children numbering 325,819; as many as 632,219 Indians in all are waiting for their green cards.

People have 60 day-time to comment on the proposed rule, which will mainly impact legal immigrants as illegal immigrants are not eligible for any government benefits.

There is possibility of changes in the proposed rule before it is being promulgated.

The DHS said the proposed regulation defines a public charge to be a person who receives certain public benefits above certain defined threshold amounts or for longer than certain periods of time.

In making this determination, the DHS is proposing to consider current and past receipt of designated public benefits above certain thresholds as a heavily weighed negative factor.

The rule would also make non-immigrants who receive or are likely to receive designated public benefits above the designated threshold generally ineligible for change of status and extension of stay.

The public benefits proposed to be designated in this rule are federal, state, local, or tribal cash assistance for income maintenance, temporary assistance for needy families, supplemental security income, medicaid (with limited exceptions for Medicaid benefits paid for an “emergency medical condition,” and for certain disability services related to education), medicare part D low income subsidy, and the supplemental nutrition assistance programme.

What Is Balayya’s Take On Cigarette Scene?

Share

Recently on the eve of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s birthday, NTR and ANR’s old smoking picture, where they are lighting up a cigarette has come to life yet again. This time it featured Balakrishna and Sumanth doing it.

Yes, both NTR and ANR used to be smokers and there was that incident where ANR is lighting the cigarette of NTR with a matchstick. Often this picture is considered as a witness to their warm friendship despite the fact that they are two big heroes at the competition at that time. Here comes an interesting snippet as to why this scene is shot for the film.

Actually, director Krish wants to tap the memory of audiences by showcasing those images that were already in the minds of Telugu people, this time as scenes. So by showing this particular shot, they will be now talking about what happened that day. Convinced by this idea, even Balakrishna is said to have given an instant nod for the smoking-hot shot.

And then, after the release of this poster, there is a comment that in real life NTR is taller than ANR, but here it is vice-versa as Sumanth is taller that of Balayya. Common, in reality, King Akbar is a bit more than 4-feet, but a 6-foot tall Hrithik played his role in Jodhaa Akbar, isn’t that convincing? Enjoy the film rather than plucking hairs from an egg.
