Tamannaah’s Way of Handling Negativity

Share

After Baahubali, Tamannaah hasn’t done any full fledged or less roles in any film. She did Na Nuvve with Kalyan Ram almost after a year after the Baahubali and the film had tanked at the box office. She has done a special number in Jai Lava Kusa. Does this indicate to us that her career is over?

Asked whether her she feels so, actor Tamannaah said, ‘Thanks to people who think like that. Every time they said something like that, I got more number of films. Even now, I have Sye Raa and That Is Mahalakshmi in my kitty. I think judging the career of a heroine on the basis of her age has to stop. It’s time to stop.’

Tamannaah is all set for her upcoming film Next Enti which is directed by Kunal Kohli and also has Navdeep, Sundeep Kishan and Larissa Bonesi in lead roles. The film is releasing on December 7 and Tamannaah said that she personally loved the film very much.

The actor doesn’t seem to be affected with the negative comments that people pass on her and she said she takes them sportive.

Talking about her role in Sye Raa, Tamannaah said that she’s very excited to do this project as it such a huge one. ‘I teamed up with Chiranjeevi garu for the first time and I’m happy about it. Shooting is yet to be completed and I play a full length role,’ she added.

Her next film That is Mahalakshmi is close to wrap up and this film is official remake of Kangana’s Queen. The film is expected to release in February or summer.

2.0 2D Version Losing The Race!

Share

Before the release of ‘2.0’ the producers marketed it as a 3D film and also appealed to the audience to watch it only in 3D for a better experience. On the contrary, they released the 2D version in the maximum number of screens which is a blunder.

This has resulted in the box office collections. While 3D version of ‘2.0’ is minting huge money, the 2D version is clearly lagging behind. This is evident in the first week collections and the Monday figures are seriously upsetting. In many areas, the morning shows were canceled with audience not turning up as expected. If the same scenario continues, the distributors might prefer screening the new releases on December 7th.

It is not easy to increase the prints of 3D in quick time and many are finding fault in the planning of the producers and exhibitors. It’s the same situation in the rural parts of Tamil Nadu as well. The only saving grace here is the Hindi version. Having released the 3D version in maximum screens, the ticket prices being high, it has become a relief for ‘2.0.’

Dil Raju Brings Nani and Dulquer Together?

Share

Noted producer Dil Raju has inked a three film deal with Natural star Nani long back. As part of it, two films were made back-to-back. But for the hat-trick film, the ace producer is planning something big.

Initially Dil Raju approached Nani with the remake of Tamil movie ’96’ but as the latter was busy, the producer had to look for other options. Post ‘Sammohanam’ Dil Raju had paid advance to director Indraganti Mohan Krishna and now this director has reportedly prepared a multi-starrer story.

Impressed by the script, Dil Raju is considering Nani and Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan who has great following across south India. If this combination is set, Dil Raju could widely release the movie.

Yet again the dates of Nani and Dulquer are a bit tighter to seal. Nonetheless Dil Raju maintains good contact with Dulquer and even the hero knows about the producer. Given the rapport they share, if Dulquer could adjust the dates, then we can see the combination by the end of 2019.

Salman Khan Is Richest Indian Celebrity: Forbes

Share

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is the richest Indian celebrity, according to the 2018 Forbes India Celebrity 100 list, which he has topped for the third consecutive year. Shah Rukh Khan has fallen out of the top 10 list.

The 2018 Forbes India Celebrity 100 List rankings are based on estimates of entertainment-related earnings of celebrities. The period under consideration is October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.

The actor’s earnings are pegged at Rs 253.25 crore. Salman, 52, cemented his place in the top spot thanks to the commercial success of his movies “Tiger Zinda Hai” and “Race 3”. His earnings were backed by endorsements of several consumer-facing brands, and constitute 8.06 percent of the total earnings — Rs 3,140.25 crore — of the top 100 celebrities for the year, read a statement from Forbes.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli jumped one spot to the second rank, with total earnings of Rs 228.09 crore, a sharp increase of 116.53 percent from the previous year. Actor Akshay Kumar completed the top three, with Rs 185 crore in earnings in the period under consideration for the list.

With no movie releases in 2017, Shah Rukh Khan, who was at the second spot on the 2017 Forbes India Celebrity list, fell out of the top 10. His earnings were down 33 percent this year, at Rs 56 crore from endorsements, placing him at rank 13 on the list.

Newly-wed actress Deepika Padukone broke into the top five on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list — the first woman celebrity to find place in the top five — with earnings of Rs 112.8 crore, placing her firmly at rank 4, thanks to the commercial success of “Padmaavat”, and her brand endorsements.

Cricket star Mahendra Singh Dhoni rounded up the top five with Rs 101.77 crore, followed by Aamir Khan (Rs 97.50 crore), Amitabh Bachchan (Rs 96.17 crore), Ranveer Singh (Rs 84.7 crore), Sachin Tendulkar (Rs 80.00 crore) and Ajay Devgn (Rs 74.50 crore) making it to the top 10.

There is mixed representation from the prolific South Indian film industry. There are 17 celebrities from the South this year against 13 on the 2017 list. The number of Bollywood actors is down from 33 to 31, despite their cumulative earnings increasing by 12.89 percent from the previous year.

Brian Carvalho, Editor, Forbes India, said: “The Celebrity 100 is a definitive barometer of earnings of celebrities. Besides the earnings charts and cover stories on high-fliers like Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, we have also covered in the Celebrity 100 Special issue a whole new generation of celebrities — the unlikeliest of YouTube stars from the hinterland, a rapper from the Mumbai ghettos and an activist actor from Kerala taking on misogyny head-on in the testosterone driven Malayalam film industry.”

Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya, with earnings to the tune of Rs 28.46 crore, was the highest gainer (in percentage terms), with his annual earnings rising nearly nine times.

Actress Nayanthara, whose earnings stand at Rs 15.17 crore, is the only woman from the South Indian film industry to make it to the list, following the success of her dark comedy, “Kolamavu Kokila” and the thriller “Aramm”.

Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ set for major China release

Share

Superstar Rajinikanth’s “2.0”, which has set the cost registers ringing all over, is gearing up for a major China release across 56,000 screens, according to its makers. In a statement, Lyca Productions confirmed the news of the Shankar-directed sci-fi movie’s release in association with HY Media in China with at least 47,000 of the total screens playing it in 3D format.

“2.0” will release in China in May 2019 and it will be the widest 3D release for any foreign language film in history, the statement said.A sequel to Shankar’s 2010 blockbuster “Enthiran”, “2.0” has been produced by Lyca Productions and was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on November 29.

The film, which features Rajinikanth in three different ‘avatars’, also stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey.Akshay Kumar, making his southern debut, plays the antagonist. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 600 crore.

Rajinikanth plays a scientist and a robot. He also appears as a microbot, dubbed 3.0, which was one of the major surprise elements.Earlier this week, Lyca Productions revealed that the film grossed a whopping Rs 400 crore in its opening weekend worldwide.

Shankar has also confirmed he is ready to commence shooting for Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2″, which marks his reunion with the latter after two decades.”We recently did a make-up test with Kamal sir and I was really excited to see him in the get-up of Senapathy. We are all set to begin shoot very soon,” Shankar told the media.

Shooting of “Indian 2” may start from December 14. Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to play the leading lady. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music. Lyca Productions will also be bankrolling “Indian 2”.

How Can He Name Candidates?

Share

Lagadapati Rajagopal is constantly in the news for his electoral predictions and unfortunately, it remains his only credential for hogging media attention.

Speaking to the media in Tirupati, Lagadapati had declared that 8 to 10 ‘Independent’ candidates will win the election in Telangana and named two of them: Bahujan Left Front (BLF) candidate K Shiva Kumar Reddy from Narayanapet constituency in Mahbubnagar district, a Congress rebel candidate, and Anil Jadhav who is contesting as an independent candidate in Boath in Adilabad district.

Yesterday, he named three more candidates who will win the polls according to his survey: G Vinod from Bellampally, Jalandhar Reddy from Makhtal and Mal Reddy from Ibrahimpatnam.KCR has already dismissed Lagadapati’s predictions as ‘the handiwork of ‘sannasulu’ (useless fellows) who had made all out efforts to scuttle Telangana agitation in the past.

KCR called upon the people not to believe in such surveys terming them baseless.Putting aside the credibility of these surveys, what one fails to understand is how the Election Commission is taking no action against Rajagopal for naming people who will win.As per rule, no one is supposed to do that until polling is over i.e. December 7.

When Lagadapati is mentioning the names of the candidates, is it not unfair to the other contestants in those constituencies? Is this not influencing the mindsets of the voters? What for? A few minutes of coverage in the media? It is surprising to see a seasoned politician like Lagadapati behaving in this fashion.

Rs 1000 Cr Ready For Post-Poll Purchases

Share

With indications emerging that no party will be getting the required majority on their own in the Telangana Assembly polls to form the government, the focus has now shifted to ‘post- poll management’ to grab power by purchasing MLAs.

The Congress-led Mahakutami which gave tough fight to TRS in ‘pre poll management’ by splurging huge money on public meetings, campaigning, media management, media advertisements etc is now gearing up for a ‘master post- poll management strategy ‘ to give TRS a run for its money.

Thanks to the support of ruling parties in neighbouring States AP and Karnataka, there is no dearth of money for Mahakutami in Telangana. Both the governments of AP and Karnataka are pumping in huge money into Telangana to defeat TRS at any cost.

Their money power is already being witnessed by one and all with Mahakutami keeping TRS on its toes with extensive campaigning and publicity. Now, with just a week left for elections and the subsequent results on December 11, the Mahakutami has reportedly kept ready, a Rs 1,000- crore package to lure MLAs from other parties and independent candidates, in case it falls short of the required majority to form the government.

Just as the BJP was prevented from forming the government in Karnataka in May this year despite emerging as the single largest Party, the Mahakutami is hopeful of a similar repeat in Telangana.

Share

Behind The Scene: Uttam Is The One

Share

The Congress Party is notorious for infighting and at any given time, there exist a number of factions within the Party vying for control.Naturally, with 2018 polls just round the corner, the various groups led by Komatireddy brothers, Jana Reddy, DK Aruna, Uttam Kumar, new-entrant Revanth Reddy are all contenders for the top prize of CM.

However, Party supremo Rahul Gandhi in an informal communiqué has apparently made it clear that if the Maha Kootami wins the election, Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the Chief Minister. What worked in Uttam’s favour are his non-controversial nature, loyalty and ability to work silently without tying to hog all the attention unlike some of the other leaders in the Party.

From being labeled as a Party without a charismatic leader to take on KCR, the Congress has slowly come to a position of Uttam Kumar Reddy-led Congress and that is quite a commendable achievement. In all fairness though, Revanth Reddy has had an equal role to play in the favourable winds billowing the way of the Party and he has emerged as the Chief Mascot for the grand old party.

Opinion: Disband These Corporations!

Share

After coming to power in 2014, Chandrababu Naidu had formed the Brahmin and Kapu Corporations as both these communities had voted for the TDP in the election. But now, the Corporations are divided houses beset with infighting.

In 2019, the Brahmin community which is traditionally a Congress supporter in AP, voted in large numbers for TDP because of the Modi wave and the fact that AP needed an experienced CM. But things have soured badly and the community is now rallying behind YS Jagan.

In fact, IYR Krishna Rao was Chairman of the Brahmin Corporation resigned and has since been a vocal critic of the real-estate venture Amaravati.Similarly, Kapus voted for TDP because of Pawan Kalyan. Now, Pawan has parted ways with the TDP and they will vote for Jana Sena.

So, there is a situation where the Brahmin and Kapu Corporation leaders are trying to attract their communities to the TDP fold whereas the general mood is in favour of YSRCP and Jana Sena. The infighting along political lines is spilling over on to the social media with Corporation members publicly targeting one another.

Creation of such Corporations is a wrong thing in the first place. There are many castes and communities and the leader of the State should try to bring in policies that will benefit everyone to the maximum possible effect.

Such institutions will only underscore the differences rather than integrate. KCR did the same thing in Telangana with a Bhavan for each caste. Let Andhra not make the same mistake.Let us not have Corporations based on caste but only on the basis of economic backwardness. That will be more beneficial to society.
