Saakshyam Movie Review
Saakshyam which created a lot of buzz with intriguing trailers is out in theaters now. It is an action film based on the five elements of nature. Sriwass took an interesting theme, but the execution is not up to the expectations.
Story:
Vishwa (Srinivas) is raised by a NRI couple after his family was killed by Munuswami and his brothers (Jagapathi Babu, Ravi Kishan, Asutosh Rana, Madhu Guruswamy). Vishwa doesn’t have a clue about anything that happened when he was an infant. But the nature that witnesses the gruesome crime plots the revenge when Vishwa comes back to India from US.
Performances:
Srinivas performance in Saakshyam is slightly better than his previous outing. However, he still needs a lot of grooming and should work on his diction. He is good in songs and action sequences with his toned physique. Pooja Hegde’s glamour is an attraction, but she is restricted to a nothing role that doesn’t give any scope to exhibit her skills. Jagapathi Babu looks menacing as the villain. Ravi Kishan and Asutosh are okay as his brothers. There is nothing much to talk about other actors including experienced actors like Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, Rao Ramesh and Pavitra Lokesh. Lyricist Ananth Sriram is a total miscast in a key role as Valmiki.
Technicalities:
Director Sriwass tried to give a new spin to the time-tested revenge plot by including the five elements of nature. The idea might have seemed thrilling on paper but the execution is so bad that it hardly engages the audience. Except for a couple of action scenes, Sriwass’s direction lacked vision and clarity.
Theme song is impressive and the background score is very good in many sequences. Cinematography is top notch and the visual effects are okay in parts. Grand production values are one of the film’s main strengths. Producer Abhishek Nama has spent a lot on the film as he believed in the concept. Dialogues penned by Sai Madhav Burra are good.

Analysis:
The idea to make a conceptualized commercial entertainer is good. Director Sriwass has come up with a really interesting theme of using five elements of the nature to seek revenge. The idea must have sounded thoroughly exciting on paper. In fact the theatrical trailer cut had impressed one and all. Unfortunately, Sriwass couldn’t make the idea into an engaging film. Mixing commercial elements into a serious plot diluted the impact and a few key scenes ended up as ridiculous stuff due to lack of vision and bad execution.
Take off is good as the villains are established well. The crimes at the beginning are gruesome and the escape of the hero from the villains clutches as an infant is a thrilling sequence. Director wastes a lot of time on the love track of hero that is boring to the core. Even Pooja’s glamour couldn’t lift the spirits. Things start to excite as hero takes off to India. However, the first killing with the help of ‘air’ kills the excitement because of horrendous execution.
Second killing episode shot in Varanasi has been on point with good technical values. Sriwass looked in full control in this episode where he has hit the right notes. Shifting back to family setup and a badly placed song brings the tempo to near zero and the third killing using the element ‘earth’ is just like any action scene. Climax is a huge letdown because of poor visual effects and a very underwhelming end to Jagapathi Babu’s character.
It’s gutsy of Sriwass to make something on this scale, but he totally lacked the vision to make it an engaging action thriller. Saakshyam would have been a thrilling ride had the director got the execution right. A single line idea isn’t enough to make a film worth watching just because of grand production values. Technicians and actors have put in a lot of effort, but everything has been wasted because of a shallow script.

Mega Brother Finds Fault With Jagan
Notwithstanding the appeal made by power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan not to drag the controversy further over YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s comments against his marital life and close the issue once and for all, there have still been reactions from various quarters.
On Friday, Pawan’s brother from mega family K Nagababu also lashed out at Jaganmohan Reddy for making personal comments against the power star with reference to his married life.
“Jagan has made the comments without any proper understanding about Pawan’s marriages. My brother did not cheat any woman by making false promises. He has married a third woman only after duly divorcing his first two wives as per the law,” he pointed out.
He said taking divorce was something purely a personal issue between a husband and wife.
“Pawan has legally divorced his wives. Neither his first wife nor his second wife Renu Desai had made any complaint or comment against him. There is absolutely no dispute with his marriages. I don’t know why Jagan had to make such comments on Pawan who had followed law,” Nagababu said.
“Why? Are there not any political leaders who are married but having extra-marital affairs?” he asked.
Stating that there was a political agenda behind Jagan’s unsavoury comments against Pawan, Nagababu said the YSRC president had targeted Pawan personally because he had no ability to counter him politically.
“He is feeling insecure and frustrated politically,” the mega brother opined.

In yet another stunning movie, Rajamouli’s father, the talented writer of films like Magadheera, Baahubali series, Bajrangi Baijaan and Mani Karinka is now doing another big Bollywood venture. This time, it will mark the debut of a star Telugu director as well.
Popular film production and distribution company, Eros International, has confirmed that they are going to produce almost 10 films with the scripts written by Vijayendra Prasad. And one of the first films of this production combo will be directed by none other than Sukumar.
Yes, it’s official that Sukumar will be making his Bollywood debut with an action thriller written by Vijayendra Prasad. And guess what, the film might feature Varun Dhawan in the leading role if sources are to be believed. With Mahesh Babu’s film in hand, we wonder if Sukumar is ditching it to go to Bollywood or he will go after wrapping that movie.
Apart from this movie, the Baahubali writer is also sending his brother’s son SS Kanchi to Tamil with a bilingual that will be produced by Eros as part of this deal.

Actually, the Stylish Star is supposed to team up with director Vikram Kumar for a movie and it is getting late due to unknown reasons. But here is the twist.
We hear that other day Vikram got upset that Bunny is asking for ‘commercial masala’ changes to the script written by him and is said to have expressed his unhappiness over the same. He even felt like leaving aside this script and working on something else with another hero. All these rumours have surfaced on social media too and they have upset mega fans. “I don’t have any plans to act in movies for the next 10, 15 years. I will quit acting and get married after 3, 4 years. However, I will continue film production and get into full-time web series and even movie production,” Niharika said.
Niharika also said that her short term plans as an actress is the reason why she is signing movies without thinking much about the heroes in her projects. Niharika’s statement will surely come as a stunner to her fans as she is first star daughter who successfully turned heroine after convincing her illustrious family.

Richa flaunts Kerala sari for Shakeela biopic
In the first look from the biopic on actress Shakeela, Richa Chadha flaunts a fresh avatar in a Kerala sari Kasavu Pattu. She says the movie will allow her to capture a range of looks as the story spans over a few years.Richa plays Shakeela in the film, directed by Indrajit Lankesh. The film will delve into the life of the glamorous actress, who has worked in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films since over two decades.
For the film, Richa has begun shooting in a small town in Karnataka called Tirthahalli.On her look, she said in a statement: “The challenge for the look of the film but also a good one is that the story traces the journey of Shakeela’s younger days to her becoming a popular figure.
“So, the looks span over years and years and with each passing time her look changed. To show that is challenging but also for me as an actor, it’s gratifying that I get to grow with the real character on celluloid. Shakeela is still a legend and we wish to do complete justice to her when the film is ready.”
