YSRC gives clarity on alliance with BJP
The YSR Congress party, which has been on the defensive over the allegations being made by ruling Telugu Desam Party all these days that the former has a secret understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party, has given up its tentativeness finally. On Monday, YSRC MPs have clarified that there would be no alliance with the BJP whatsoever in the next elections.
“We are going it alone in the next elections and there will be no alliance with any party, let alone the BJP,” former YSRC MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said.“The TDP has been making baseless allegations against us in this regard,” he said.Another former MP P Mithun Reddy said the YSRC was of the firm view that both the BJP and the TDP had cheated the people of the state on the special category status issue.
“We hold both the parties equally responsible for not implementing the promises made in AP bifurcation act. We shall expose the betrayal of the BJP and the TDP in the next elections,” he said.In an interview to a national English daily last week, YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy also clarified that the party was capable of fighting alone and there was no need to have any alliances with any party.
Reacting to the allegations of TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that the BJP was firing at the TDP from the shoulders of the YSRC and Jana Sena Party (headed by actor Pawan Kalyan), Jagan pointed out that it was Naidu who had sailed with the BJP all these years and was still having a secret part with it.
“The fact that Naidu had appointed wife of a BJP minister of Maharashtra as the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board member and is continuing husband of central minister Nirmala Sitaraman as his communication advisor itself indicates Naidu is still cosying up with the BJP.Everybody has seen how Naidu went head over heels before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as was evident from his body language. Does it not show how Naidu is still hobnobbing with the BJP?” he asked.
Chiddu Lacking In Consistency
Former Union Minister and Congressman P Chidambaram lashed out at the BJP once again and referred to GST as ‘RSS Tax’.It has been one year since GST was implemented and when Chidambaram was approached for his views on the same, he termed GST, a failure.“No one is happy with GST, except the Income Tax department. It has become like a taboo word and till date, there is no sign of positive influence of GST on the nation’s economy. It is better to call it ‘RSS Tax’,” said Chidambaram.
In the same vein, he continued, “GST is actually the brainchild of UPA government.”If GST is UPA creation, then all the blame for the so-called resentment against GST should be taken by the UPA then, is it not Chiddu?
How can you say that no one is happy with GST and then take credit for creating the concept in the first place?
Ee Director Ki Emaindi?
Young filmmaker Tharun Bhascker has not just received the national award but also unanimous applause from the audiences for his first feature film ‘Pellichoopulu’ that was released in 2016. After tasting the first success, he took almost 2 years to bring his next film. With a catchy ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi’, Tharun Bhascker has come up with a buddy film about four friends who collaborate to make a short film and their trip to Goa.
Unlike his first film, Tarun’s Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi met with less than enthusiastic response from critics & weak box-office collections. Tarun, who’s hailed as an inspiration for budding directors and short-film makers and regarded as fresh talents of Tollywood, is not pleased with the film’s response. The outspoken filmmaker blasted at critics and questioned their eligibility in judging a film. He tried to say that there’s no fault in his cinema but with the critics.
On one hand, Tharun fired a salvo at film reviewers & critics and on other hand, he said he’s getting good support from regular cinema-goers. The unexpected response has pushed Tharun Bhascker to deactivate his social media account. Both failures and successes are not uncommon in creative field and criticism is not new in this industry but it all lies in how the creator handles it.
Fans and well-wishers of the director aren’t happy with his stance on deactivating social media account, want him to put apart the pressure and start working on fresh subject. Many people feel that he should have a thick skin at this stage of career and should be ready to face the cynical approach of critics because they had something positive to say about his work in the past.
That’s A Record! Sanju Beats Baahubali 2
For a long time, many Hindi films are working towards the target of beating “Baahubali” and “Baahubali 2” at the box office. But the likes of Padmaavat and Race 3 like films failed to do it. But now, Raj Kumar Hirani’s biopic film “Sanju” has done one such feat.
Recording an earth-shattering opening weekend collection, Sanju has collected 120+ crores nett in its first weekend. Despite having a long 5-day weekend, earlier Padmaavat collected only 114+ crores, but Sanju has outshined all such records now. And in that process, it has beaten one of the records of Baahubali 2 as well.
Apparently, Baahubali 2 holds the record of collecting highest ever for a Hindi movie on its Day 3, as it collected 46.5 crores nett back then. And now, Sanju surpassed it with a minimal margin, by collecting 46.71 crores, thereby creating a new record. That way Bollywood is feeling proud that at least now Baahubali 2 records are getting touched.
Directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, “Sanju” explains the world that Sanjay Dutt is not a terrorist but got arms into hands only to safeguard his father. In a way, the film is a message from Sanjay Dutt to everyone who thinks he has role in 1993 Bombay serial blasts.

She is one of the few actresses who sticks to self-made rules and values. The beauty from Malabar has been playing roles with girl-next-door looks and is now comfortably settled in Tollywood. I know where to draw a line in glamour show,” she stresses.

Kamal Haasan trolled over Shruti’s ‘I’m Iyengar’ video
Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan was criticised for his “shallow understanding” of caste polity after a 2014 video of his daughter, Shruti Haasan, declaring her ‘Iyengar’ status resurfaced online.
In a question-answer session with his Twitter fans on June 29, Haasan responded to a query, tweeting, “I refused to fill in the caste&religion column in both my daughters’ school admission certificate. That’s the only way, it will pass on to the next generation. Every individual shld start contributing fr progress. Kerala started implementing the same. Those who do shld be celebrated. (sic)”
On Saturday, Twitterverse dug out a September 2014 interview of Shruti Haasan on the chat show ‘Look who’s talking with Niranjan’.To a question by the host Niranjan Iyengar — on what seems like a long-running gag between the two — as to why she refers to him as her “Aambalaiyaan”, Shruti says, “It is because you’re Iyengar and I am Iyengar and we are both creative. And there’s a very high chance that nobody will marry either of us.”
Twitterati accused Haasan of double standards and pointed to Shruti’s video to further their cause. D Ravikumar, general secretary, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, said that the tweet exposed Kamal’s understanding of caste.“(The tweet) shows that his understanding of caste system is shallow which is why he suggests such remedies. My humble request for Kamal would be to read Ambedkar’s Annihilation of Caste,” Ravikumar said.
Political observer ‘Tharasu’ Shyam pointed out to Haasan’s “Thevar Magan” (1992) as an example of the actor promoting caste identity via his films.Other Twitter users said Kamal had not discontinued the practice of adding caste names to his films, pointing out to his under-production venture ‘Sabash Naidu’ as an example.
Shocking Cut In Comedy King’s Remuneration
Until a couple of years ago, senior comedian Brahmanandam was hailed as the King of Comedy. There was literally no film which released without featuring Brahmanandam at least for a scene or two. Brahmanandam used to charge anywhere between 2 lakhs to 6 lakhs per call sheet, depending on the film’s budget and the production house.
But things have now changed quite drastically. Brahmi is no longer the comedy king of Tollywood. He is being replaced by many popular and upcoming comedians, which in turn had resulted in a severe dearth of roles for Brahmi. As a result, Brahmi’s remuneration has undergone a shocking cut. Apparently, the veteran comedian is now charging a meagre Rs 50,000 per call sheet. However, it is not entirely Bramhanandam’s fault.
Top directors and writers have failed to come up with imaginative scenes and rib-tickling dialogues that match the legendary comedian’s calibre and kept on force-feeding audiences with the routine, lackluster comedy. Fans of this star comedian are still hoping that Brahmi will regain his lost glory and enthrall them with his trademark humourous antics and hilarious dialogue delivery.
Stupid Statements By KTR and Chandrababu
Telangana Minister KTR met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested the latter for a steel plant at Bayyaram. He then proceeded to give a statement saying, “If the Centre does not sanction a steel plant at Bayyaram, we will build one on our own.”Similarly, Chandrababu Naidu after making CM Ramesh give up his fast, said, “If the Centre does not set up a steel plant at Kadapa, we will go ahead on our own.”
Both the statements are really stupid in the context of the current situation. If Telangana and AP are capable of setting up steel plants on their own, why then will the Centre extend any financial assistance? It will gladly step away from the picture.Naidu says the same thing about Amaravati and KTR about the scrapped ITIR project.
The people of AP can only pray and hope that Naidu will not say the same thing about Polavaram also. That will be a real death blow to the lifeline of AP.
