There is a saying in Telugu that goes like, only a fruit-bearing tree gets stones pelted at it. And then we have hit Telugu films always get accused of some sort of issue. Many films generally face plagiarism issues and now the 126+ crores mega-hit “Rangasthalam” is also getting targeted.

In this Ram Charan starrer, the hero saves a politician till last minute with utmost caring, only to kill him in the end. A writer named M. Gandhi claimed that this is the basis of his story “Ukkupaadam” and accused that Sukumar copied from it. The issue went to Telugu Film Writers Association and here goes Sukku’s reply on it.

“I haven’t copied anyone’s ideas for Rangasthalam movie, but have crafted all scenes from my own imagination. For the scenes where the hero saves villain till last moment only to kill him, I got inspired from 1979 Rajnikanth and Sridevi starrer ‘Dharm Yuddham’. I thought of using that characterisation from a long time and used it here in Rangasthalam” said Sukumar in a written clarification.

So that’s pretty clear that Sukumar didn’t get inspired from Ukkupadam but from Dharam Yuddham movie. Now one would wonder where did that writer got inspired from to write his Ukkupadam story. Meanwhile, some say, ‘there are many chances that many people will get the same idea and such coincidences should not be labelled as plagiarism’.

We have to see what Writers Association and that writer who alleged Sukumar of copying has to say further.

Ever since Teja opted out of NTR biopic, there had been rumours on who would direct the prestigious film of biopic of legend NTR. While speculations had it that Balayya would direct the film, there were also rumours of Teja returning to the project. However, quashing all those rumours, sensible filmmaker Krish Jagarlamudi has been roped in to wield the megaphone for NTR.

Since Krish had delivered a master piece in form of Gautamiputra Satakarni with Balayya, the combination indeed gets bigger than the previous combo of Balayya and Teja and naturally, expectations have multiplied on NTR with the reunion of Krish, Balayya.

Since Krish is already busy with his ongoing epic film Manikarnika, the biopic of Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmibai, featuring Kangana Ranaut, many feared that Krish may not accept NTR Biopic. Even Teja had not expected the move. But giving a befitting counter, the makers have persuaded Krish to get on board. This is indeed a huge set back to Teja who already lost a film with Venkatesh.

Hero Nagarjuna Akkineni said its high time people should stop talking about his age and he is still young. Speaking at the pre-release event of ‘Officer’ Nagarjuna said, it was a pleasure to work with a young team and thanked director RGV for the experience.

The Akkineni hero added he was thoroughly impressed by the script narrated by RGV. “Before starting the film, RGV penned a letter to me, saying that I can kick him if he failed to execute the film as he narrated. But it’s not necessary now. RGV worked very hard for the film,” said Nagarjuna.

The sound and its effects of ‘Officer’ is going to be major highlight and talking about it, Nagarjuna said, “After ‘Shiva’ I haven’t watched any film that has high standards on sound. I believe ‘Officer’ is going to be yet another path breaking movie.”

Apparently, writer-director Trivikram’s comments about a future reuniting with Pawan Kalyan for a film has led to many discussions now. And some people are opining that the star director is not confident of his friend’s victory in 2019 election and also his political future.

“In 2014, we prepared KoBali script but Pawan said that he wants to take one year break to play role in politics. So we’ve called the film off.  And if Pawan Kalyan becomes free after 2019 and decides to act in films, then definitely we will take that project forward” said Trivikram, talking about that script which has never seen light till date.

Going by this, one has to say that Trivikram is not so confident that Pawan will get busy in politics full time. Either this well-wisher is thinking that Janasena President will play his role and comeback to films after 2019, or he might be indicating that Pawan will walk off with empty hands, say netizens.

But there are those who are looking at that silver lining in a positive way. They think that maybe Pawan Kalyan will take late NTR’s route, who has continued in films even after becoming Chief Minister. Let’s see what is in store for Pawan and what will happen to KoBali.

Ravi Teja has apparently charged a bomb for his recent dud Nela Ticket. Ravi was reportedly paid a staggering Rs 12 Crore for his ordinary role in a wafer-thin story.

If buzz is to be believed, director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala too took Rs 3 Crore fee for the story and direction. Whereas Jagapathi Babu, who played antagonist, was paid Rs 2 Crore as his remuneration. Including the remunerations of other cast, crew and locations, shooting expenses, the film’s budget has shot up above 25 Crore.

With the disaster talk all over, the film’s producer is expected to lose a chunk of the money. Inside buzz is that Ravi Teja is reportedly agreeing to do films based on the high remuneration. Film Nagar circuits are buzzed that Ravi is not particular about scripts or director and is only keen on remuneration.

The biopic of legendary actress Savitri, Mahanati, turned out to be a money spinner at the Box Office – both domestic and overseas markets.

The latest feat of the epic is that it has beaten the full-run collection of Trivikram’s A..Aa (24,49,000 USD)  in the US.  By crossing landmark 25,00,000 USD mark, Mahanati has become the sixth highest grossing Telugu film in the US.  With a ticket price of just 12 USD, Mahanati has made this phenomenal feat at the BO.

Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu is its nearest target (28,91,000 USD) that is standing at the Top 5. The other highest grossing Telugu films in the US in order are Baahubali : The Conclusion (11.8 Million USD), Baahubali : The Beginning (6.8 Million USD), Rangasthalam (3.5 Million USD), Bharat Ane Nenu (3.4 Million USD).

Even 21 days after the film’s release, the film is still running strong in cinemas. With the disaster talk of both the last week releases – Nela Ticket and Ammamma Garillu, Mahanati is now marching towards 2.8 Million USD mark.

Since the film is released in the US on the sharing basis, producers and its US distributor are laughing all the way to the bank.
