The teaser of ‘Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu’ garnered a fantastic response from the audience as this non-linear crime drama seemed to have patriotism as its backdrop.
The makers even released the movie in USA much before domestic release. Such confidence they have on this movie.
Is it really worth the hype?
Performances:
A boy’s home goes missing from his colony. Several kids are abducted. An airplane that carries celebrities is hijacked. These seemingly three different incidents have a connection.
Special investigation officers Deepak Reddy (Nara Rohit) and Neelima (Shriya) are assigned to deal with the case of the missing plane, while local police officer (Sudheer Babu) investigates the other case. A private investigator ( Shashank) is investigating child kidnaps.
Who is behind all these activities?

Nara Rohit and Shriya have played the roles of investigation officers in okay manner though their characterisations are poorly written.
Shriya has got her demeanor right. Sudheer Babu appears as local police officer and he has done good job. He also gets lengthier role.
Sree Vishnu is the surprise package; he has done negative role. However, his characterization lacks proper sketch.
The final portions on Sree Vishnu are totally confusing. Shashank is okay. Srinivasa Reddy’s comedy is silly.
Technicalities:
The film has decent cinematography but rest of the technical departments have failed. The production values are of low standards. The editing goes haywire.

Analysis:
On paper, “Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu” must have sounded exciting as three different stories collude with one main theme. More than the idea, it is the narration that matters. This is where the film fails miserably.
The new director has chosen to tell this movie in a non-linear way, but his capabilities are limited as the film turns monotonous and clumsy after a point.
In the very beginning, it is revealed that a guy named Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu is the man who is plotting all these. But why he is doing and what is his motive is revealed in the end, and by then, we can easily guess the ending. The director has reserved a twist for climax, but that is too vague.
Before reaching the final point, the director has tried to play on two investigative operations – one is about hijacking of a plane and the other is about a missing house. The kid coming to the police station and lodging a complaint that his house is missing makes the film very interesting in the beginning. Sudheer Babu heading the investigation also holds the interest but the excitement dies down soon with other elements coming in.
As the film revolves around the same thing constantly and doesn’t move further, we feel restless. The real twist in the film comes in the last 20 minutes. Till then the director focusses on Nara Rohit and Shriya’s investigation and their negotiations with Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu (played by Sree Vishnu). These episodes are clumsy and are shot with low production values. The investigation team and the setup look awfully cheap.
The way Nara Rohit and Shriya go about the investigation, no one can believe that they are special investigation officers deputed by the central government. The logic goes for a toss here.
The real twist that comes in the end is very confusing. This year we have already seen two such films (ex: ‘Awe’). But here the twist does not convince. The film finally turns silly.
There is too much of blood-shed in the film. To top it all, Sree Vishnu’s character looks weird.
All in all, “Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu” is an exercise to look different, but its clumsy narration and confusing climax make it hard to watch.
