Sukumar’s Pay: 18 Cr Plus Share In Profits
Producer and director were treated like godfathers during the ’50s and ’60s era. Then, both director and producer lost their charm after heroes domination started later in ’70s and ’80s.
In the ’80’s, directors like Dasari Narayana Rao and K Raghavendra Rao were paid almost equal remuneration to that of star heroes. At one stage, Dasari used to demand at least one rupee high to the pay of his film’s hero.
In current era, it’s ace director SS Rajamouli who brought back the charisma for director. Besides taking home his regular pay, Rajamouli also gets share in profits.
Director Koratala Siva too started taking additional pay from profits with Bharat Ane Nenu.
Currently, top directors in Tollywood are charging nearly Rs 10 to 20 Cr of remuneration.
Director Sukumar who just delivered non-Baahubali hit with Rangasthalam too has joined the list of directors who will be getting additional pay from profits.
Mythri Movie Makers are happy with the way Rangasthalam performed at the box-office. In fact, the film is still raking in shares in many centers.
The same production house as we all know has signed director Sukumar for another film. Superstar Mahesh Babu has been finalized to star in the film.
For this film, Sukumar has been offered Rs 18 cr as remuneration. What’s more, he will pocket share from profits as additional pay. So, with this film, Sukumar joins the likes of Rajamouli and Koratala Siva.
On the other hand, Mahesh Babu will next work with Vamsi Paidipally for a yet-to-be titled film. Soon after wrapping up that film, Mahesh will team up with Sukumar who previously made a disaster 1 Nenokkadine with him.
Naidu Cosies Up With Rahul Gandhi!
The swearing-in ceremony of Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy as the new chief minister of Karnataka might be a big news for the media, but it was Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who hogged the limelight on Wednesday.
Naidu drew the attention of the media by moving closely with the Congress bigwigs like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Particularly, the way Naidu was shaking hands with Rahul, patting his back and exchanging pleasantries have become the talk of the town.
Though it is too early to say that Naidu would join the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, all the regional party heads with whom Naidu had interaction on Wednesday to discuss the prospects of a federal front were also moving closely with the Congress top bosses.
This has given rise to the impression that Naidu might also join the pro-Congress bandwagon to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next elections. Since politics make strange bed-fellows, there is no surprise if Naidu joins the Congress-led front.
After all, Naidu still has the Congress blood flowing in his veins!
BJP Begins Operation Garuda in AP!
As soon as Karnataka polls ended with the failure of ‘Operation Lotus’, BJP has upped its plan ‘Operation Garuda’ in Andhra Pradesh. Many TDP leaders are now linking the issue of ex head priest Ramana Dikshitulu to Operation Garuda. TDP leaders are countering that people know who is behind all this to malign Chandrababu Naidu who is bravely fighting against Narendra Modi & Centre that caused gross injustice to AP.
On the other hand, a few Uttarandhra leaders from TDP are alleging that Pawan’s Porata Yatra is also part of the BJP’s plan as Pawan is targeting only Chandrababu and AP State government by not uttering anything against Centre.
And as usual, Jagan and YCP’s counter protests to TDP’s Dharma Porata Sabha against BJP and Centre are also being accused by TDP as part of the game plan chalked out by BJP’s top brass.
TDP leaders from AP are accusing that this all-round attack on Chandrababu and TDP is happening at the behest of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi. The Telugu Desam Party netas assure that they would overcome all these easily and these ‘Operations’ can’t affect them. However, the one thing political analysts caution TDP is to be proactive than before to tackle such serious issues else the damage would be irreparable. It’s high time, TDP should also change its game plan and start no-holds-barrier counter attack.
Rangasthalam celebrates 50-day run in the US
It’s been a glorious time for blockbuster village drama Rangasthalam at the box office. While the film has been going strong at the ticket windows attracting more audiences even after over a month of release.
And now, the film has completed a landmark 50-day run at the cinema halls. What’s interesting is that the film has done so well in the US market that the elated US distributors of the film, Creative Cinemas NY are celebrating the success.
The Creative Cinemas NY distribution house decided to donate the collections of the film from the screens in Columbus, Ohio, on its 50th day to a charitable organisation H2O.
The period drama set in the 80’s has been running successful in 12 centers (Virginia, Chicago, San Jose, Dallas, Columbus, Edison amongst other locations in the US) for 50 days now and has been opening to huge crowds week after week.
Rangasthalam has proved to be a profitable venture for its makers as it makes record collections worldwide. In the US alone, the film collected $3,513,371 and counting.
To mark the 50 days run in the US, director Sukumar thanked both fans and movie lovers in the US.

Prabhas disappointing his fans!
In Rajamouli’s movies, every time the hero gets a new weapon in his hand to kill the antagonists. But in reality, all heroes have one particular weapon that will be impressing audiences all the time with good looks. And Baahubali Prabhas is losing control of such weapon now.
For all big stars, their looks and personality are their weapons. That’s the reason some heroes spend hours at the gym and some prefer ayurvedic massages, to get slim and look manly. Definitely, his macho looking physique in Baahubali has done wonders for him, as many girls went gaga over it while boys felt jealous. But if we look at Saaho working stills that came straight from Abu Dhabi, surely Prabhas is disappointing his fans a bit.
With his face little chubby and his muscles completely out of shape (looking little plump), Prabhas is losing that charm we have to say. As “Saaho” is aimed at Telugu and Hindi release, surely Prabhas needs to keep a check on his physique. At this moment, his competitors in Telugu arena including Mahesh, Allu Arjun, Charan and NTR are enticing audiences with their stud looks. And almost all the Bollywood star heroes have great bodies. So why is Prabhas neglecting his primary weapon knowing all these facts?

TDP Leaders Hired Goondas To Attack Me: Pawan
In a shocking allegation, Pawan Kalyan, who is doing his Porata Yatra in Srikakulam district where he is touring around and giving public speeches on his way, claimed that a few TDP leaders in Palasa had tried to attack him on Tuesday (May 22, 2018) night. Pawan alleged that TDP leaders had deliberately cut down the power late night in his area where he was staying and allegedly tried to attack him with the help of 15 contract Goondas.
Giving a warning to TDP leaders and CM Chandrababu Naidu directly, Pawan said he is brave enough to face any consequences and won’t fear to such attempts. He reiterated that he is ready to face any situations and hence joined the politics.
In a strong speech, Pawan took on ruling TDP government and alleged the government of failing to resolve Uddanam issue. Saying that meagre two dialysis centers are not enough, Pawan demanded the state government to set up a dialysis center in every mandal in the district. Public have attended in large numbers for Pawan’s meetings.
Missing Jewelry Is In Chandrababu’s House: Vijay Sai Reddy
Going too far and too personal, YSRCP’s Vijay Sai Reddy alleged that ‘missing’ jewelry of Lord Balaji of Tirumala, India’s richest Temple, would be found in Chandrababu Naidu’s residences at Amaravati and Hyderabad.
This is after Chandrababu Naidu responded on controversial priest Ramana Deekshitulu and shot back saying he would keep YSR’s photo next to the deity of Lord Venkateswara in his house. It all started when Ramana Deekshitulu was relieved from his duties after the TTD Board passed new resolution that Archakas above 65 years would be retired.
A day after Naidu’s fitting reply on Ramana Dikshitulu episode, Vijay Sai Reddy resorted to fresh mudslinging by directly framing Chandrababu Naidu. What’s more shocking is that Reddy accused Naidu of ‘hiding’ the precious stones, jewelry of Balaji in his houses. Further to this allegation, Vijay Sai Reddy challenged that he would quit his Rajya Sabha MP seat if his allegations are proven wrong.
He however put a condition that it would be applicable only if the CBI or Telangana police conduct raids at Chandrababu’s residences within just 12 hours of time. Vijay Sai Reddy has made such allegations only after knowing that CBI or a state police forces can’t conduct raids in the houses of a Chief Minister without direct orders from a top court that too based on profound evidence. Aware of this, Vijay Sai Reddy seems to have made such baseless allegations to defame Naidu but by trying to drag Naidu personally, Reddy has even lost the very little bit of credibility that he had.
Vijay Sai Reddy further alleged that Chandrababu amassed huge wealth not through by his Heritage company alone but by looting the Devasthanam. But knowing that Naidu had never involved in such acts be it when he was the CM of united Andhra Pradesh or during his tenure for the last 4 years as the CM of the successor state. Given that Naidu is one of the long-serving Chief Ministers in the country, Vijay Sai Reddy’s allegations are turning out to be comedy.

AB DeVilliers Announces Retirement from Cricket
South African star cricketer AB DeVilliers officially announced retirement from all forms of international cricket earlier this evening. Announcing through a video bite that’s posted on his Twitter account, AB said, ‘the time is right’ and called it quits after 14 years of play for Proteas. The 34-year old was a hero South African fans still take pride in and he had one of the most-celebrated careers in International cricket.
The retirement announcement was totally unexpected from ABD and confirmed ‘I have decided to retire from International Cricket with immediate effect.’ With fierce shots and stormy boundaries, DeVilliers had fans across all the cricketing nations in the globe. Confirming that he’s no plans to play overseas, ABD said he will continue to be available for Titans in domestic cricket and remains to be the biggest supporter of Faf Du Plessis and the Proteas.
