Actor Arjun Kapoor came to his half-sister Jahnvi Kapoor’s defence when an online portal splashed her unflattering photographs in an offensive way. He says it’s a shame to see how the country looks at young women.

Arjun on Thursday retweeted a news portal’s post about Janhvi sporting a “sexy dress” as she reached Arjun’s home. She was seen sporting a white cotton dress with a low back.

The actor tweeted: “You know what, f**k you man, f**k you as a website for highlighting or bringing it to anyone’s attention and it is shameful that your eye would go searching for something like this. Shame on you… This is how our country looks at young women. Yet another shining example. Ashamed by this.”

The news portal later withdrew the post.This is not the first time Arjun has come out in support of Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, daughters of his father Boney Kapoor and the late Sridevi.

Arjun, son of Boney and his first wife Mona Shourie, has stood as a support system for the two sisters since Sridevi’s death. He also remained by his father’s side during the emotional phase.

Hyderabad: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday sent notices to the Telangana government and the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry over a Telugu actress’ allegations of sexual exploitation.

The commission took suo moto cognizance of media reports about the allegations raised by actress Sri Reddy and a lack of grievance redressal mechanism for women in the film industry.Reddy created a sensation by resorting to strip protest against casting couch in Tollywood in front of the office of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce here on April 7.

The actress, who started her career as a news reader on a Telugu channel and also did small roles in a couple of films, named a few prominent personalities of the industry.She started ‘SriReddyLeaks’ page on Facebook to expose those exploiting women aspiring to work in films.

She has questioned the Telangana government and the Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) on the absence of a Committee Against Sexual Harassment.The Commission observed that the contents of the media reports, if true, tantamount to inaction of the part of the state government.

“The Commission is of the opinion that the reported prohibitions imposed upon the actress, barring her to act in the films and stopping others to work with her are violation of her right to livelihood and live a life with dignity,” said an NHRC release.

It issued notices to Telangana’s Chief Secretary and the I&B Ministry Secretary, calling for a detailed report in the matter within four weeks.

The Commission also observed that reportedly action against the actress has been taken under IPC’s Section 294 (obscene acts in public) but it is nowhere mentioned if the authorities have taken any action on her allegations.Therefore, it appears to be an attempt to muzzle the voice of the whistleblower both from the sides of MAA and the state authorities.

The Commission said the issues raised by the actress demand action on part of the state government in the form of a committee to address and redress the grievances of the female actors and women employees.

The panel noted that actress staged a semi-nude protest outside the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and an annoyed MAA not only dismissed her allegations but also declared that she will not be given its membership under any circumstances.

The MAA has even reportedly said that action will be taken against any artiste who decides to share screen space with her.The MAA, which filed a police complaint against the actress, has said action against her has been taken as per rules, the NHRC said.

Not all celebrities will be able to handle two boats quite well. Some actors often fail as producers, forget about any business outside the film industry. However, hotties like Tamanna and Kajal tried their luck outside, but it looks like things are not going as planned.

Amidst growing criticism against Nara Lokesh’s public speeches and Telugu dialect, TDP’s top brass has stepped in to initiate damage-control. As part of the plan, Lokesh has been advised to hire a teacher who could groom him in the mass communication skills as well as the Telugu language.

None other than Peddi Rama Rao, well-known TV serial writer and research scholar, who had earlier groomed Jr NTR during his political campaign in 2009, has been zeroed in on to teach Lokesh. Peddi Rama Rao is very good at diction and is known to groom Jr NTR in teaching him the political jargon.

The scion of Chandrababu Naidu is presently serving as the IT & Panchayat Raj Minister. Since Lokesh is getting active in direct politics and electoral politics, Chandrababu Naidu and other party seniors want Lokesh to go for formal training ahead of 2019 elections.

Recently, Pawan Kalyan had hit out at Lokesh and the latter’s alleged links with Sekar Reddy. Even during then, Lokesh had stated that he ignores Pawan’s comments since they’re baseless. But the party wants Lokesh to strongly counter in such instances.

Even earlier, Peddi Rama Rao had groomed Lokesh during his foray into politics. But that wasn’t full-fledged training since Lokesh couldn’t accommodate his full-time then. Now, Lokesh too is keen on learning the nuances of public speaking. Peddi Rama Rao is also a popular speech-writer for CM Chandrababu.

“At that moment, we felt unhappy for the things done by Sri Reddy. But our Tollywood biggies (Pedda vaallu) have today asked us to reconsider our decision and we’re taking our words back. We request Sri Reddy garu to continue acting in films and do good work in the film industry” said MAA president Sivaji Raja, offering an olive branch to actress Sri Reddy by welcoming her into the association.

Actor Sivaji also stated that Sri Reddy’s stripping acts have hurt them emotionally and that’s the reason they asked 900 members of their association to not act with her. Pushing it down as a momentary reaction, the whole of MAA is now saying that they will help Sri Reddy in all the aspect. What about the casting couch accusations she alleged on Suresh Babu’s son Abhiram now?

“We’ve actually formed a committee to address this ‘casting couch’ issue and once Sri Reddy or any other actress lodges a complaint, we’ll consider them and solve it,” said MAA team members. But talking about the demand of giving chances to Telugu heroines in Telugu films? Maa says, “With producers investing crores of rupees, they have the choice to pick the actors or actresses they want. If we say that only Telugu people should be taken, the government of India will not also accept that demand”.

We have to see what Sri Reddy will say about this now. Recently she stated that all the culprit bigwigs in the industry should be punished no matter whether they take her into MAA or not.
