Trade: Rangasthalam Earns 80 Cr In 1st Week
It’s been a week already since the release of Ram Charan’s latest blockbuster, Rangasthalam. The film has turned out to be the biggest hit and a landmark movie in Charan’s career.
In its first week, Rangasthalam grossed a staggering Rs 128 crores with a share of 80 crores worldwide. The film earned 90 Cr gross and a share of 58 Cr, creating a non-Baahubali first week record by beating Khaidi No.150’s first week share (56 Cr).
Rangasthalam has surpassed Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No.150’s first week collections (77 Cr) and also zoomed past the lifetime collections of Atharintiki Daredi (75 Cr) and Jai Lava Kusa (76 Cr). The film is all set to beat NTR’s Janatha Garage’s full run collections (82 Cr) today. Rangasthalam will cross the 100 Cr share mark likely by the end of 2nd week or 3rd weekend.

A Telugu Guy Behind Salman Khan’s Conviction
To prove that Salman Khan had shot dead two blackbucks in 1998, Forest official got various proofs and scientific evidence in place. But to distance him away from the case, and to dissolve the case, various arguments like the killed animals are general antelopes (not endangered species) and the animals died due to excessive eating but not bullet wounds.
However, the DNA fingerprinting lab in Hyderabad played a crucial role in nailing the accused as they proved everything scientifically. Centre for DNA fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD)’s the then head, Telugu scientist GV Rao provided crucial evidence that the killed animals are blackbucks.
Even after the dead bodies are exhumed they took bone samples to prove their theory. While deposing in court in 2015, Rao confirmed that the killed animals are indeed antelopes. And then he retired from the department a year later. Rao lives in Alwal, Hyderabad and is now into civic activism.
Cut to Salman Khan’s conviction, the actor might have to stay in Jodhpur jail for one more night as the judgement on bail order will be coming out tomorrow (Saturday).
No No-Confidence! Lok Sabha Adjourned Sine Die
Without admitting No-Confidence Motions moved by TDP and several other opposition parties, Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die today (April 6, 2018). The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on today morning bringing an end to the Budget session – half of which was completely washed out in disruptions.
As the Lower House met, AIADMK MPs protested near the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s podium demanding the setting up of the Cauvery Management board.
Mahajan asked the MPs to return to their seats so that the no-confidence motion moved by opposition against the government can be taken up, but the protests continued. The Speaker then adjourned the House sine die.
Rajya Sabha Adjourned Sine Die
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha was also adjourned sine die concluding the budget session, half of which was completely washed out in disruptions. The upper house worked for 45 hours in around 30 sittings and lost 120 hours in disruptions.
In his valedictory remarks, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu rued that he had little to say in terms of what the Rajya Sabha did but a lot to say what it did not.
“No legislative business apart from passing of the Payment of Gratuity Bill could be transacted. Even the general Budget was not discussed nor the Finance and Appropriation Bills were discussed and returned to the Lok Sabha,” Venkaiah Naidu said. Venkaiah lamented that even a farewell to the retiring members could not be done smoothly on the fixed day and had to be “negotiated” subsequently.
He asked the MPs to “introspect” and try to create a “win-win situation, not the lose-lose situation”.
PS: Smartly, BJP has avoided No-Confidence Motion with the “help” of AIADMK MPs. Thus, Narendra Modi has escaped from the first-ever No-Confidence Motion in his tenure without even facing discussion, debate.
Pic Talk : NTR Cries With Pain!
NTR is not just one of the most talented actors in Tollywood, he is also one of the most hard-working actors. Even after shedding nearly 18 kilos, NTR hasn’t given up the course in the middle and still continuing it unabated.
Latest is that NTR is spotted working very hard in his gym under the training of reputed physical fitness trainer Lloyd Stevens. Lloyd has posted the pic of NTR from his work out regime and wrote, “When a Trainer and the Client want the results as badly as each other.” NTR is almost seen crying with “pain” and “difficulty”. The best thing was that he hadn’t stopped in between. With this pic shared by Lloyd, NTR’s commitment, dedication is proved once again.
Lloyd had earlier trained the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh. A Zimbabwean, Lloyd has been camping in Hyderabad and closely working with NTR throughout his next film to be directed by Trivikram Srinivas.
Husband Complaints on Wife’s Affair With Ex TDP MP
Former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao seems to have landed in major trouble. A criminal case has been filed against him with the Jubilee Hills Police Station. A person named CK Ramakrishnan has alleged that Nama has been having an extramarital affair with his wife Sujatha Ramakrishnan since 2013.
As per the media reports, Ramakrishnan has been residing in the USA since 1992. His wife Sujatha returned to Hyderabad in 2014. Nama used to occasionally visit Sujatha at her Jubilee Hills Road No.45 residence. Ramakriahnan further alleged that in October last year, Sujatha called him and told him that she is being threatened by Nama and his brother Seethaiah to divorce him and live-in with Nama. Sujatha even filed a case against Nama in October last year.
Two days ago, Ramakrishnan returned to Hyderabad and found his wife depressed. When enquired, Sujatha confessed to him of having an extramarital affair with Nama since 2013. But of late, Nama and Seethaiah have been harassing and even threatening her to divorce her husband.
Following Ramakrishnan’s complaint, the cops registered criminal case against Nama and Seethaiah under IPC sections 497, 504 and 506. The matter is under investigation at the moment.
Confirmed : Only NTR, No Ram Charan!
The grand gala pre-release event of Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu is triggering several discussions in the industry circuits. The reason for the discussion is about the guests for the event. While speculations were rife that Charan and NTR would be the guests for the event, it is reliably learnt that only NTR is attending the event.
“Only NTR has been invited. And NTR has readily agreed to attend the do. Since Charan is busy with promotions of Rangasthalam, his time was not sought,” divulged a highly reliable source who is aware of the developments.
Of course, Charan would be made part of film’s promotions later, may be, post-release. Since Charan and Mahesh are BFFs and share very good rapport, they’re all like one family, added the source.
Meanwhile, it is not yet known whether director SS Rajamouli would attend the do of BAN or not. Rajamouli is going to direct RRR (Rajamouli, Ramarao, Ram Charan) under Danayya’s next production. Since Rajamouli would also expected to work with Mahesh after RRR, he is likely to attend the do until and unless he has pre-production work of RRR.
Let’s wait and see, who all will be there at BAN pre-release event. For now, NTR and Mahesh are going to take the stage by storm.
Rangasthalam Throws Challenge To Bharat
Ram Charan-Sukumar combo has done the unthinkable. The film has surpassed many previous blockbusters and went on to sit in the Top, only next to Baahubali films in the US. The film emerged as the third highest grossing Telugu film in the US after Baahubali : The Conclusion and Baahubali : The Beginning. Simply put, Rangasthalam has beaten Mahesh Babu and Koratala Siva’s Srimanthudu US BO record by huge margin. Simply put, Rangasthalam has beaten Mahesh Babu and Koratala Siva’s Srimanthudu record by huge margin. Charan has pipped Mahesh to the post.
Given this, Mahesh and Koratala Siva’s combo which is coming up with Bharat Ane Nenu is under pressure to beat Rangasthalam record in the US. Since Mahesh has consistently proved as the US Box Office King and owns record of having highest number of Million Dollar films under his belt, Mahesh-Siva’s Bharat is keeping their fingers crossed.
All eyes of the trade are now on Mahesh’s BAN whether it could tear into Rangasthalam records (both in overseas and domestic market) or not. Since BAN arrives after two major duds of Mahesh, Mahesh is under pressure to deliver this time around. It needs to be seen whether Koratala Siva will once again be saving grace for Mahesh or not.
Tarak’s ‘Vetakaram’ or ‘Pain’ ?
Jr NTR once again became an epicentre of discussions with his comments not going well with certain sections of the audiences. Though his fans find him quite genuine, some observers say, his actions and words are raising unwanted speculations.
Whether Balayya invited or not, Jr NTR didn’t turn up at NTR biopic launching event and other day also confirmed that he hasn’t got any call to play any particular role. But the way he said it, is a bit laced with unwanted ‘vetakaram’. When the journo quizzed if he got any invite to play a role, NTR quipped, “Naakem pilupu raledu. Meeku teliste naaku cheppandi. Okavela naaku telistey, meeku cheppe veltanu” is what he said.
While the lines generated some laughs at that time, slowly some are reading between the lines and are able to understand that ‘vetakaram’. Let’s forget what is between NTR and Balayya, firstly NTR didn’t turn up at MLA pre-release event nor he tweeted about the film. But without any worry of leaking his new look, he took part in IPL press meet now and also tweeted about Rangasthalam movie. Some cinema lovers feel that NTR has his own share of taking some bold decisions and probably he should also respect such decisions taken by others.
But fans felt something else. “When everyone out there is invited but not Tarak, how would he react? There is no vetakaram in his reaction, but only pain”. What do you think folks?
I Want To Become Both Doctor And Actor
After mega daughter Niharika Konidela, another Telugu actress with a filmy background is all set to make her debut into Tollywood with a challenging role. Following footsteps of her parents, Shivani, daughter of Rajasekhar and Jeevitha, is soon making her debut on silver screen.
When asked about her biggest inspiration, without any doubt, Shivani immediately said, it is her father Rajasekhar. We all know that Rajasekhar is a doctor by profession and an actor by passion. Like her dad, she too wants to become both, a doctor as well as an actor. “My father didn’t quit doctor profession, even after he became a successful actor. Still, some of his patients say, he’s a better doctor than an actor. I want to continue that legacy. Will finish my medicine, will become a good doctor and a good actor as well” she said.
The actress is all set to make her debut with Telugu remake of 2 States, where she will reprise Alia Bhatt’s role. When asked about her choice, she said, “As there are many layers in Ananya’s role, I thought this is the perfect choice for my debut and revealed that the director did a small change in my character that suits the Telugu nativity.”
Surprising everyone, Shivani is a pack of multiple talents. She learned Kuchipudi and now learning Kathak lessons. She also mastered in belly-dance, Carnatic music and guitar playing. But what acting lessons then? “I’ve grown up watching my parents on sets. Do I need to get a lesson?” she concludes.
