Chennai: As no one turned up to buy the late Malayalam actress Srividya’s flat here, the Income Tax Department (I-T Department) has postponed the auction.The flat was put on auction by the I-T department to recover the tax arrears, which amounts to Rs 45 lakh. The base amount of the flat was fixed at 1.14 crore.

Earlier, the officials at the I-T department had said that they were going ahead with the auction proceedings with the permission of KB Ganesh Kumar, Malayalam film actor and Pathanapuram MLA, who is the legal custodian of Srividya’s properties.

The flat is currently rented by one Umasankar, a lawyer.Umasankar said he had rented the flat from Srividya in 2005, before the actress succumbed to cancer one year later. He had been paying a monthly rent of Rs 13,000.

Srividya had not paid the tax from 1996 until her death; hence the arrears skyrocketed to a whopping Rs 45 lakh.The I-T department has decided to auction off the flat as the monthly rent of Rs 13,000 collected from the tenant is insufficient to cover the arrears.

Making a sequel to a flop film is always a herculean task for the director. While, there are few films in Bollywood, where the sequels failed to recreate the magic of original ones, some managed to impress the audience with sequels and there is Don.

Shahrukh Khan’s 2006 starrer Don, which happens to be the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s blockbuster Don that released in 1978, has disappointed the audience. It fared just average at the box office. Still, SRK and Farhan Akhtar came up with Don 2 in 2011, to score one more flop at the box office.

As per the latest updates, Farhan has plans to do Don 3 with Shahrukh Khan. It is heard that Farhan Akhtar decided to do another sequel in Don franchise, this time he will join hands not as director or producer but as writer and actor. It has been almost six years, Don 2 hit the screens. In a recent interview, the actor announced that he had already developed the script and SRK also liked it. Farhan will be acting as a cop in the movie.

Coming to the heroine, the makers are looking for a fresh face for the role of female lead, as the script doesn’t need global star Priyanka Chopra as her role is being discontinued. The film is likely to hit the screens in 2020. Hope the Don sequel scores a hit at least now.

Samantha has not taken a single paisa from Telangana government, asserts Minister KT Rama Rao.Putting an end to speculations that she was paid huge amount for promoting the state’s handlooms, KTR said she is doing it for free out of her interest.

Samantha has been promoting handlooms especially the Sarees and other handmade clothes from Telangana.She has been declared as brand ambassador for handlooms. Samantha is not getting any honorarium either, minister clarified.

“She came forward to popularize the weavers’ products and we readily agreed. We are not paying anything to her from state exchequer, “he said.Samantha regularly wears cotton sarees just to promote the weaver’s work.

The prestigious biopic on legendary NTR, titled “NTR”, is all set to be launched on 29th March. The ceremony will be held at Ramakrishna Studios in Hyderabad. Here is the interesting information on the first shot to be canned on that eve – it will involve four CMs.

The first shot on the launch day will be held on the characters of former CMs – NTR (then United AP CM) and MGR (then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister). A scene featuring the two legendary stars of Telugu and Tamil cinema respectively turned CMs will be filmed.

Telangana CM KCR will give Clap for the shot and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu will switch on the camera. Thus, the two former CMs will be in front of camera and the latter two will be off the camera for the first shot, making it a unique association of four CMs.

Balayya plays his father in the biopic. He also co-produces the film along with Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri.

Kavya’s role in the untitled film is relatively small compared to Hydari’s, who is on board to play Varun Tej’s colleague in the Space film i.e. she plays an astronaut in the Sankalp Reddy directorial. Varun and Aditi will go on a Space mission, Aditi will have almost as much screen time as Varun since the film is mainly about the Space mission.

The film’s regular shooting will commence next month.

During Rangasthalam’s pre-release event in Vizag, Chiranjeevi exuded total confidence in the movie and said that Rangasthalam will surely win many awards. Chiru’s statement has been a point of discussion since then.

When asked about his opinion on the film winning awards, Charan revealed a touching incident between him and his mother. Charan said that usually his mother hardly talks about his movies and that she only says a word about his characters and his movies.

“But after she watched Rangasthalam recently, she didn’t utter a word and just held my hands and asked me to sit beside her for 5 minutes. I noticed tears in her eyes. Those tears are my biggest award,” Charan said emotionally.

Charan went on to say that his father might have made that statement about Rangasthalam winning awards out of love. Buzz is that Chiru was quite impressed with Charan’s performance in the movie. We will know the full impact when the film releases on March 30th.

Joining the list of Telugu film celebs who have rebuked the recent comments of a News Channel’s editor’s maligning comments against women who work in the Telugu film industry, Natural Star Nani asked media channels to act responsible. He reminded them that even kids watch TV and that they should do responsible journalism.

“Strongly condemn the way our TV channels and their hosts and a few YouTube channels are constantly focusing on maligning the film industry. Remember, our media plays an important role in shaping the future. Kids are watching .. enough .. Stop it!!,” Nani tweeted.

Earlier, a few members of the Movie Artiste’s Association (MAA) filed a police complaint against the channel editor for his derogatory comments against actresses.
