MCA Tattoo Craze Among College Girls

Share

Natural Star Nani has a huge fan following and that is evident from the collections of his films despite critics labeling them as routine flicks. And that fanbase includes many college going girls who want to bunk for the day and catch his movies.

Today in Hyderabad, to cash on this craze over Nani’s newest release, many tattoo stalls at popular multiplexes of Hyderabad actually came up with a unique idea. They have readied the stencils of “MCA” movie logo and started advertising about it by mouth during the interval.

Getting excited by the crazy call, immediately some college-going girls rushed to the stall and got inked with this temporary painted tattoo of MCA logo. As you could notice in that picture shot at a posh multiplex in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, many rushing to get their wrist area decorated with that way.

Well, fans have no logic but only emotions and showcasing their love for their favourite hero is always a topmost priority for them.

Samantha Didn’t Cry, But Why Tears Then?

Share

Other day “Hello” audio function saw a horde of celebrities from Mega and Akkineni clans heaping praises on Akhil. At that time, Kodalu Samantha looked little emotion when Nagarjuna praised her husband.

During introducing Chay at the event, Nagarjuna said, “Chay is the good guy and he’s best than all of us when it comes to that good”. While Nagarjuna is talking that way, actually Samantha is seen blinking her eyes as if she got very much emotional and later she was said to be clearing her swollen eyelids. Many felt that she will get emotional when Chay gets praised.

When fans asked her the same on Twitter, she gave an interesting reply, “Aiyooo lol .. I was having an eye infection, wasn’t crying”.

Is Samantha really trying to say that she didn’t slip into such emotional state or is she covering about her tears by calling it as an eye infection? We can’t say.And for actors who wear makeup to eyes all the time, these types of infections are also common.

Trailer Talk: Trisha’s Mohini Avatar!!

Share

Dusky siren Trisha Krishnan has trying to prove her mettle yet again after losing her star-status to young heroines for reasons unknown. She’s now coming up with the movie “Mohini” which features her horror side. As the poster of the film raked up huge curiosity couple of months, many are waiting for the trailer of the movie.

Directed by R Madhesh, “Mohini” actually deals with the soul of one Mohini that is doing rounds on earth. It goes to Malaysia, Thailand, London, Amsterdam and other places to kill few people. Some of the visual effects show in this trailer and the rich production values are top notch, but however, the story line and the content looks quite tried and tested.

On the other hand, Trisha tried to showcase her fierce side in the movie which she has achieved only partially for the now. And her glamorous side is as usual okay. But surely she has kept some good efforts other than those four-song and three-scene kind of films. We have to see how the film will impress.

While regular horror-goers may not find the film much interesting going by this trailer, those fans of Trisha who are expecting some change from her might like it well.

Megakkineni Bonding Became Talk Of Town

Share

Last night it was a cheerful environment at ‘Hello’ pre-release event as we have seen Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan gracing as Chief guests for Akhil’s “Hello”, produced by Dad Nagarjuna. And the Mega-Akkineni bonding, ala megakkineni’s, have simply stunned everyone at the event and also the watchers on TV.

When Akhil said, “My Pedananna Chiranjeevi garu, my Peddanna Charan”, it’s just so astounding to hear. And then, Nagarjuna stated that he liked it when Akhil called Charan as a big brother. “Chiranjeevi garu and I have a big age gap, but still we are very good friends. Our hearts are in resonance. And now Charan and Akhil, it’s too good”, Nag said, adding more cement to strengthen the bond.

And then Chiranjeevi’s turn came in. “Whenever Akhil comes to our home, my wife says even we should have planned for a younger son. But I feel Akhil is our younger son”, he said, breaking the crowds into that amazing cheers. And Ram Charan stated that there is nothing he couldn’t talk about when the likes of Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna are present at a venue.

Later Naga Chaitanya also added that Chiranjeevi is the inspiration for heroes of not just one generation but all generations. And Samantha joined the chorus by thanking Megastar’s fans who have come there. Earlier also we have seen Chiru turning up on Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu as a guest when Nag is the host and later Akkinenis joining as guests when Megastar moved to the hot seat.

This camaraderie between Akkinenis and Mega family is anticipated but people haven’t expected that this would be of such divine proportion. Generally, we see a lot of rival camps and it seems like Tollywood’s big families are blurring such thoughts which fans usually have. Hope this bonding extends to films also and some mega-akkineni multi starers come up in the future.

DSP : What Amma? What is This Amma?

Share

Devi Sri Prasad is undoubtedly the rock star and the king of Tollywood music industry. But isn’t he losing his grip slowly? His recent music albums indicate that DSP seems to be losing his magic. The latest work of DSP is Middle Class Abbayi.

The music of DSP in MCA has got a thumbs down from all quarters where critics went onto dub it as ‘average’. In addition to the brickbats that DSP got for MCA, the decrease in number of films for Devi is opening doors for several others.

The exodus of musicians from neighbour states such as Anirudh, Radhan, Harris, Yuvan, Vishal Chandrasekhar and the rise of many young and talented musicians in our home turf pose serious challenge to Devi. It looks like DSP is going to have a very tough competition in 2018. At the same time, the rise of SS Thaman should also be underlined for the decrease in number of films of DSP.

This apart, DSP’s huge fee and his tight schedule are also forcing several filmmakers to look for other options.

While DSP has a very lengthy filmography in 2017 (starting from Khaidi No.150 to Rarandoyi to DJ to Jaya Janaki Nayaka to Jai Lava Kusa to Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi to latest MCA), in the next year he has only three and out of them, only two are biggies. Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu and Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam are the two of his films. Also, the fact that he didn’t end 2017 (MCA) on bright note, one has to wait and see what is up in the store for DSP.

Yet, having said this, DSP has done very well in 2017. One of the biggest chart busters such as ‘Ammadu…Let’d Do Kummudu’, to ‘What Amma…What is This Amma’, most of the hit numbers are from DSP. But it is high time, he should introspect.

Anu Emmanuel is Equal To Keerthy Suresh!

Share

It was assumed earlier that young actress Anu Emmanuel was playing second female lead in Trivikram’s ‘Agnyaathavaasi’. However, the promos released thus far have contradicted this assumption, and it seems her role is as important as Keerthy Suresh’s. Both of them have dubbed in their own voice for their characters too.

Trivikram has this particular way of creating two heroine characters in his films and giving a relatively smaller role to second heroine, the roles of Parvathy Melton in Jalsa, Pranitha in AD, Anupama Parameswaran in ‘A..Aa’ and Nithya Menen in S/o Satyamurthy are the examples.

Considering this modus operandi of Trivikram and also taking into account the fact that Anu Emmanuel hasn’t yet acted opposite any star hero unlike Keerthy, it was assumed that Anu might be playing second fiddle in Agnyaathavaasi like Pranitha did in AD. But, it is now heard that Trivikram had given more or less equal weightage to both Keerthy and Anu in the film, the same was evident from the teaser and songs as well. In that case, Anu must be extremely lucky to land lead heroine role in a film as big as Agnyaathavaasi.

Meanwhile, Anu has learnt Telugu and is speaking the language very well. She divulged that she would love to work with Trivikram in more films. Will this star director, who has the habit of repeating heroines consider Anu for his next films? Well, according to the buzz, she is a strong contender to play the female lead in Trivikram’s next film starring NTR.

MCA -Middle Class Abbayi Movie Review

Share

Nani has been unstoppable at the box office lately. With a series of hit films, Nani’s market value took a big leap and it is reflected in the opening day collections of MCA. This is Nani’s third film this year and it is produced by Dil Raju who is of late having a ball as a producer. Sriram Venu of Oh My Friend fame is back to direction after a huge gap. Can MCA join the likes of Nani’s recent hits? Did Dil Raju get it right again? Let’s analyze MCA.

Story :

Nani (Nani) is from a middle class family. His life is very happy until his brother (Rajiv Kanakala) gets married to Jyothi (Bhumika). She is a very strict woman and makes Nani do household chores as he doesn’t have any other work to do. Nani falls in love with Pallavi (Sai Pallavi), who happens to be a cousin of Jyothi. After learning about his vadina’s true affection towards him, Nani becomes responsible. At this point, Nani confronts a goon Warangal Siva who wants to kill his Vadina.

Performances:

Nani is an effortless actor who can make any scene work with his terrific performance and impressive dialog delivery. However, MCA has a very weak script and poorly etched character that even Nani couldn’t do much about it after a point. Even supremely talented Sai Pallavi has been wasted in a silly, pointless and typical run of the mill character. Bhumika looks dignified as the strict Vadina. Rajeev Kanakala is fine in his brief role. The guy who played the villain is a poor choice. Priyadarshi, Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh make an impression in the supporting roles.

Technicalities:

Sriram Venu has come up with a lackluster script that doesn’t have a bit of novelty. Apart from a catchy title and the initial setup everything about the film goes off track. The film’s plot resembles many eighties and nineties family dramas that cannot click with the current generation audience unless they are dealt in a hilarious way. On a whole, it is a shoddy work from the director who is back to business after six years.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is uninspiring. None of the songs are fresh and his background score is surprisingly bad. Cinematography is standard. Technically, MCA doesn’t offer anything exceptional on any front. Production values are strictly okay.

Thumbs Up:

  • Initial scenes
  • Nani
  • Sai Pallavi

Thumbs Down:

  • Poor second half
  • Terrible climax
  • Below average music
  • Script and direction

Analysis:

Dil Raju has been sticking to template commercial films lately. With so many movies coming out of his stable, Dil Raju is inclining towards playing safe by opting to make commercially viable films. Though safe it is a tight rope to walk as the film may fall flat on its face if it fails to hold the interest of audience.

MCA has a very poor script that it will leave us wondering how Nani and Sai Pallavi accepted to be a part of it. The director takes audience for granted and simply recycles old ideas and scenes and pass it off as a new film with a catchy title. Hero coming from middle class family has nothing to do with the actual plot of the film.

It is just another hero vs. villain saga where the protagonist has to save his sister-in-law from the antagonist. This might have worked to an extent if the villain is threatening enough. The actor who played the villain looks very weak and lean. He doesn’t seem like a serious threat at any point. Whole second half relies on the mind games between hero and the villain.

Director’s inability to come up with interesting scenes made it a torrid affair as it puts the viewers’ patience to test. The film starts off well with enjoyable scenes between Nani, Sai Pallavi and his friends. But it is all downhill once the action part comes to the fore. Second half is a giant yawn that even Nani and Sai Pallavi look helpless most of the time.

MCA will have to rely upon Nani and Sai Pallavi’s craze and the holiday season to be a safe venture. It may attract audience in big numbers at the beginning but majority of them will come out disappointed with this dated below average family-action drama.

Verdict: BA – Below Average.

MCA US Premieres Collection: Nani’s Career Best

Share

Nani, the undisputed king of US box office among mid-range heroes, has once again shown his dominance here. The actor’s latest film, ‘MCA’ has collected around a mammoth $260K from US premieres. The astonishing part of this feat is that the film had a Wednesday release.

MCA is Nani’s career highest opener in US, which stamped a record 60 percent growth from his previous highest, “Nenu Local”, which had collected $160K from premieres. Incidentally, both MCA and Nenu Local have been bankrolled by Dil Raju.

The premieres’ collection of MCA places it in the All Time Top 20 highest premiere grossers in the US. Furthermore, MCA has taken better opening than Ram Charan’s highest grosser in US, ‘Dhruva’, an indication of what a box office behemoth Nani is turning out to be, especially in US.
