Revanth ‘Leaks’ KCR’s Strategy

Share

Telangana Congress senior leader A Revanth Reddy has made some startling revelations with regard to the political developments taking place in ruling TRS.

Revanth said he received information from some important sources that three key leaders in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s cabinet will be not given opportunity to contest in Assembly elections. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and Finance minister E Rajendar will be sent to Lok Sabha in 2019 elections.

“KCR is preparing ground to clear all hurdles to his son and IT minister KT Rama Rao to become next Chief Minister. KCR considered Harish is a big competitor to KTR. The other two senior leaders and ministers Rajender and Srihari were also not cordial. The TRS is of the view that three leaders will also strong following and win Lok Sabha MP seats easily”, said Revanth.

KCR wanted to retain all 12 Lok Sabha seats in 2019 elections which will help him to play a key role at Centre post 2019 elections. Sending the three senior leaders to Parliament will help KCR to serve the political purpose, Revanth explained.

It’s Not Anu, But Pooja With NTR?

Share

Ever since the release of Allu Arjun’s “DJ”, slender beauty Pooja Hegde has become one of the most sought after actresses in Tollywood. She has already signed Mahesh Babu’s next film, done a special song in Ram Charan’s “Rangasthalam”, and if the inside buzz is to be believed, she is almost finalized to star in NTR-Trivikram film.

We hear that Pooja Hegde is currently in talks to play the main female lead in NTR’s next film to be directed by Trivikram. Trivikram earlier wanted to sign Anu Emmanuel, but after disastrous result of Agnyaathavaasi, he reportedly decided to look for other options. Pooja Hegde has been zeroed in by Trivikram because of her craze among youth, flawless charms and most importantly, her ease in dances, which is a pivotal requirement to star opposite Tarak.

As Pooja has also signed Mahesh’s soon-to-be commenced film in the direction of Vamsi Paidipally, her dates are being worked out to accommodate both the biggies.

Pooja will be next seen in a full-fledged heroine role in Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ “Sakshyam”.

I Took A F***ing Crore From Tollywood – Taapsee

Share

At the recently concluded India Today Conclave, popular heroine Taapsee Pannu who rose to fame with south films and slowly finding her foot in Bollywood has made some stringent comments on Telugu industry yet again. This time, her comments are filled with a sense of pride and financial success as well.

Talking about her slowing down in Telugu movies, she stated that the way they looked her down for the sake of a hero is what hurt her. “They have changed my intro part in a movie which I’ve come to know only during the shooting day. The director told me that hero asked him to change and tone down my part. When I asked him ‘Why was I’m not informed?’, he replied that ‘I actually didn’t think I should tell you’, and that hurt me. So I’ve decided to work in those films that could wait for me, give me respect, space and equal prominence” she said.

Adding more, “Recently I’ve done a Telugu movie Anando Brahma only because they have waited for me for one year. And also I’ve done it on a profit-sharing basis and walked away with a fu**ing one crore money as my share from this industry. I will do only those films that will wait for me and honour me“.

Earlier she stated that heroes will be called nothing even if the film flops, but heroines have to tone down their remuneration and also they stamp heroines as iron-legs.

No doubt, some of these comments are truly true but not always. In that case, how come the likes of Samantha and Rakul would become sought-after star heroines in Tollywood? It is wrong to call a heroine as an iron-leg, but asking them to tone down their remuneration for the sake of a project isn’t a faulty thing. There are many heroes who have cut down their remuneration during flops including Mahesh Babu, to reduce the burden on producers.

Jhanvi Kapoor In Place Of Kajal Aggarwal?

Share

Jhanvi Kapoor, the most promising star kid (daughter of veteran diva Sridevi), is likely to sign her second film much before her debut film releases. And, the film could be the Bollywood remake of NTR’s “Temper”.

According to reports, Jhanvi has been finalized to play the female lead role in ‘Temper’ remake. Kajal played the heroine in Telugu. It was Karan Johar, the man who is mentoring Jhanvi, who decided to cast her in the film since he is co-producing it. Titled, “Simmba”, the action entertainer will be directed by Rohit Shetty, one of the most successful commercial directors in Bollywood, and stars Ranveer Singh in lead role.

It is heard that Sridevi initially had reservations in letting her daughter act in ‘Temper’ remake considering the limited role of heroine. Karan however promised her that heroine’s role will be enlarged in the Hindi remake, and got her green signal.

Jhanvi is currently shooting for her debut film, ‘Dhadak’, a rustic and intense love story. Karan reportedly convinced Sridevi that Temper remake is the perfect masala entertainer that could launch Jhanvi in top league, courtesy the excellent subject and Rohit Shetty-Ranveer Singh combo.

Operation 2019 – Beware of Public

Share

Good number of Telugu movies, both big and small, are being made based on the current political situation in the Telugu states, in view of the 2019 Assembly elections. The first look of one such political film has been unveiled today, on the eve of the Republic Day. What caught our attention is the film’s title and the interesting tagline.

Titled ‘Operation 2019’, the film has ‘Beware of Public’ as tagline. Hero Srikanth is playing the protagonist, essaying the role of a politician in the film. There might be two reasons for naming the film ‘Operation 2019’. One is to give the vibes of ‘Operation Duryodhana’, which is one of the landmark films of Srikanth’s career. And, the second is the obvious reference to 2019 elections.

Unlike most political films which target politicians, Operation 2019 seems to be targeted at ‘public’, as the film’s tagline (‘Beware of Public’) suggests. We can expect makers to highlight the fact that public accepts money from politicians before elections, elect corrupt politicians and cry later when the elected leaders start looting them.

The film has attracted the attention also because a powerful and seasoned actor like Srikanth plays the protagonist, a politician’s character.

Bhaagamathie Movie Review

Share

The most awaited movie of Anushka is out in theaters now. Bhaagamathie that has set high expectations with sensational promos is packed with a lot of twists and surprises. The film will surely leave its viewers with mixed feelings. It is not the film that we expect after seeing the promos. Director Ashok has written an intelligent screenplay for a regular revenge plot.

Story :

An honest minister (Jayaram) needs to be sacked by framing him as a scammer. For this CBI takes his former PA Chanchala IAS (Anushka) into custody. By then Chanchala is already in jail for killing her husband (Unni Mukundan). Police shifts her to a remote location to enquire about the minister. She is house arrested in an abandoned fort called Bhagamathi bungalow. It is a haunted house and Chanchala’s life is under threat. How does she and others escape from the clutches of Bhaagamathie forms rest of the story.

Performances:

Anushka has come up with a brilliant performance. She has done even challenging roles in the past that she is very much at ease as Bhaagamathie. Her performance in the interval scene is the highlight of the film. Jayaram shines in an important role. Unni Mukundan had a limited role but makes his presence felt. Asha Sharath is good as the CBI officer. Murali Sharma, Prabhas Srinu and Dhanraj did justice to their respective roles.

Technicalities:

Director Ashok who made Pilla Zamindar and Sukumarudu before came up with a very different script this time. Though it seems like a regular horror film at the beginning he springs in many surprises and impresses with his work. He made a quality product with the help of ace technicians. There are a few scenes where his inexperience is evident but it is a decent effort on the whole.

Madhie’s cinematography is top notch. Most of the scenes are shot in the dark and the ace cinematographer brings his A-game to the table. Thaman is in red hot form lately and he has come up with a brilliant background score yet again. Art work by Ravinder is top class and editing is neat. Production values are superb as the producers didn’t compromise on any aspect. Bhaagamathie is a technicians film with every department giving their best output.

Thumbs Up:

  • Anushka
  • Interval scene
  • Twists in second half
  • Music and Cinematography

Thumbs Down:

  • A bit lengthy
  • Too much focus on politics
  • Hurried climax

Analysis:

Bhaagamathie seems like another Horror/comedy at the beginning. With the initial setup and a pack of comedians director prepares us for some laughs and jump scares. Political backdrop has given it a different look from the usual horror comedies. Interval scene totally prepares us for watching a horror comedy in the second half.

But Bhaagamathie turns out to be an entirely different film as it moves along. It switches genres and thrills us with unexpected twists and turns. Pre climax scenes in the Bhagamathie bungalow are wonderfully executed. However, a section of audience might feel cheated with the director’s take on the plot. There is a deliberate attempt to misguide the viewers so that the twists could pay off. In the process the director leaves the logic behind and there are far too many loop holes in the script.

First half of the film runs at a snail’s pace. Things don’t speed up even after Chanchala enters the Bhagamathie Bungalow. The build up to so called horror effect seems boring after a point. Even the political drama in the beginning lacks spice and Chanchala’s back story doesn’t have enough to hold the interest.

Bhagamathie gets interesting only towards the interval point. Pre interval scenes set up right build up for the nerve wracking interval scene. It is easily the best moment in the film. We expect second half to be as exciting as the interval episode and in fact there are a few moments that really pays off. However, director springs in a surprise with a plot twist and the movie heads for a thrilling climax.

This part seems a bit hurried without giving much insight about the revenge plot planned by the protagonist. There is scope for betterment but director Ashok seems to have convinced with what he has on hands. On a whole, Bhaagamathie isn’t another Arundhati for sure, but it has its moments to create a strong impact and give satisfactory feel to its viewers. The film is technically rich with brilliant performances from the main star cast. It should work at the box office too.

Verdict: Surprising Twist to Horror Tale!
