Pawan Kalyan’s HHVM Set for Grand Release on June 12

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan is all set to return to the silver screen with HHVM—his first film after the historic electoral victory in the recent Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The much-anticipated film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12.
Promotions for this big-budget period action entertainer have already begun, with the makers rolling out promotional content one piece at a time. As per the latest reports, HHVM is gearing up for an unprecedented release strategy, especially in Andhra Pradesh, where massive fan support and political significance are expected to boost its theatrical performance.
Given Pawan Kalyan’s new role as Deputy Chief Minister, it is anticipated that the film could benefit from favorable release conditions—such as special ticket pricing, tax exemptions, and additional shows. In fact, industry buzz suggests that special shows might begin as early as midnight on release day to maximize box office potential.
The film is riding on immense hype, not only because it marks Pawan Kalyan’s cinematic comeback post-elections, but also due to the emotional connect and enthusiasm of his massive fan base, particularly the Mega and Janasena supporters. With political momentum and star power both in its favor, HHVM is poised for a phenomenal run at the box office, especially in Andhra Pradesh.
US, South Korea, Japan Enhance Ties Amid Regional Threats

Seoul, May 20 (IANS) – Diplomats from South Korea, the United States, and Japan met in Washington on Monday for the Trilateral Coordinating Secretariat Managing Board session, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to strengthening three-way cooperation, according to the US State Department.
The meeting was led by Yi Won-woo, Deputy Director-General for North American Affairs at South Korea’s Foreign Ministry; Kevin Kim, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and Taiwan; and Akihiro Okochi, Deputy Director-General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs at Japan’s Foreign Ministry.
The officials underscored their shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific and emphasized the importance of institutionalizing collaboration across economic, security, and people-to-people domains. They reviewed recent progress in trilateral cooperation and discussed steps to enhance coordination, boost information sharing, and strengthen joint responses to regional and global challenges.
The Managing Board highlighted its continued support for the Secretariat’s efforts to operationalize trilateral outcomes and maintain momentum across priority initiatives.
The trilateral secretariat was established in November to institutionalize cooperation amid growing regional and global challenges, including North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile programs, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and China’s increasing assertiveness, according to Yonhap News Agency.
During Monday’s talks, the three countries discussed major common challenges, reviewed the implementation status of recent initiatives, and explored ways to expand the secretariat’s role to make trilateral cooperation more action-oriented and substantive, the South Korean Foreign Ministry stated.
Jagan’s Political Messages Grow Predictable

There was a time when YS Jagan displayed a unique blend of originality and raw energy, especially before the 2019 elections. His statements like “Maa time vastundi memu kuda kodatham” struck a chord and dominated the political discourse. However, in recent times, Jagan’s rhetoric has become increasingly repetitive, losing the freshness that once made his speeches impactful. Many observers now find his political statements predictable and monotonous.
In the past few months, Jagan has repeatedly issued warnings to government officials and the police department, often using phrases like “Saptha Samudralu daatina kuda vallani vadalam” and “cinema choopistham.” While these words initially resonated with YCP supporters, their constant repetition has dulled their impact.
Recently, for what seems like the tenth time, Jagan reiterated his plan of action against officials during a public address. “If any officials are troubling you (YCP cadre), make note of their names. I’m not just talking about the red book—I’m asking you to record their details. Once I return, I will show them the real cinema. Even if they cross the seven seas and settle abroad, I will bring them back,” he declared.
This repetitive messaging strategy has persisted for far too long. Jagan’s weekly warnings are not only irritating government authorities but are also losing their effect within his own party cadre, who are growing weary of hearing the same lines over and over again.
Pakistan Promotes General Munir to Field Marshal After Operation Sindoor

Islamabad, May 20 (IANS) – In a surprising move following India’s impactful Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan after the Pahalgam massacre, the Pakistan Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced the promotion of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal.
According to Geo News, the government approved this unprecedented promotion to honour General Munir’s “brilliant military leadership, bravery, and commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” during ‘Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos’. At 57, General Munir becomes only the second Field Marshal in Pakistan’s 78-year history, following former military ruler Ayub Khan, who promoted himself to the rank in 1959.
While General Munir expressed his gratitude to Allah and dedicated the honour to the nation, the decision faced criticism within Pakistan. Analysts noted that this marks the first time an Army Chief has been promoted following a military setback. Many commentators suggested that Munir essentially “promoted himself” amidst the fallout of the defeat in Operation Sindoor.
Experts further interpret this promotion as Munir’s attempt to solidify his authority and reinforce his narrative of victory despite Pakistan’s strategic setbacks. On social media, some drew parallels with former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, dubbing the situation “Musharraf 2.0 loading!”
Alongside Munir’s promotion, the government extended the tenure of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, recognising his leadership during the recent conflict, as reported by Samaa News.
Meanwhile, international assessments have largely praised India’s military performance in Operation Sindoor. The campaign demonstrated India’s ability to strike terror camps, drone coordination centers, and airbases inside Pakistan with precision, while Pakistan failed to penetrate Indian territory.
Military historian Tom Cooper described India’s air campaign as a “clear-cut victory,” highlighting Pakistan’s inability to respond effectively. He emphasized the failure of Pakistan’s deterrence strategy, noting that India not only retaliated but escalated its operations, forcing Pakistan to seek a ceasefire after sustaining heavy losses and facing ammunition shortages.
John Spencer, Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute, lauded India’s strategic restraint and assertiveness. He stated that Operation Sindoor redefined India’s red lines by treating terror attacks as acts of war and delivering a “massive victory” within just four days of calibrated military action. Spencer praised India’s approach as “textbook deterrence,” combining decisive power with measured control to achieve and exceed strategic objectives without escalating to full-scale war.

Chiranjeevi Steps Back from Remakes After Recent Setbacks

Has Megastar Chiranjeevi taken a sensational decision to step away from remake films? Going by the latest reports from industry circles, it seems the actor has become increasingly wary of remakes, especially after a couple of recent setbacks.
Chiranjeevi’s Godfather, a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, was released with high expectations but failed to deliver the desired results at the box office. The film was produced under his home banner, Konidela Production Company, in association with Super Good Films. The underwhelming performance led to financial losses.
Following this, Chiranjeevi starred in another remake — Bholaa Shankar, directed by Meher Ramesh and based on the Malayalam hit Vedalam. This film too failed to meet expectations and ended up as a major disappointment. Notably, Chiranjeevi was not involved in the production of Bholaa Shankar, which was produced by AK Entertainments.
After these two consecutive setbacks from remakes, reports suggest that Chiranjeevi has become cautious. Several directors reportedly approached him with remake projects — including V.V. Vinayak, who proposed a remake of a Hindi film, and another filmmaker who suggested remaking Empuraan (Lucifer 2). However, Chiranjeevi is said to have politely declined both proposals.
According to sources close to the Megastar’s camp, Chiranjeevi has decided to focus only on straight (original) scripts for the time being. He has reportedly stated that he won’t consider any remake projects for now, unless the story feels entirely fresh and unique. That said, he hasn’t ruled out remakes permanently — it appears to be a temporary break rather than a complete rejection.
The message is clear: for Chiranjeevi to even consider a story, it has to be original and compelling from the get-go.
