Actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has strongly condemned the circulation of morphed images on social media showing her inappropriately with 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The images falsely claimed she hugged the young player during a recent IPL match.
The original footage, shared by Rajasthan Royals, shows Preity at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur engaging in a brief, polite conversation with Vaibhav after speaking with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. The video clearly shows a professional handshake—there is no hug or any inappropriate interaction.
However, shortly after the video surfaced, digitally altered images began making rounds online, sparking unnecessary speculation. Reacting to one such misleading post, Preity took to social media, reposting it with a strong message: “This is a morphed image and fake news. Am so surprised now news channels are also using morphed images and featuring them as news items.” In another post, she reiterated her stance, calling it “Fake news with morphed image.”
She emphasized that her interaction with Vaibhav was entirely respectful and professional, and urged people not to fall for such fabricated content.
Meanwhile, Preity Zinta is gearing up for her return to the silver screen after a seven-year break. Last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit (2018), she will be appearing next in Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, and Ali Fazal.
