At a time when Bollywood is reeling under a series of disasters this year, Superstar Akshay Kumar has finally shown some signs of life for the industry.

After the release of Baahubali-2, the distributors and exhibitors continuously lost their money even with mega films like Tubelight (Salman Khan) and Jab Harry Met Sejal (Shahrukh Khan). But, the latest film of Akshay ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ has exceeded the expectations doing decent business.

For buyers, who are already had a rough phase, Toilet is some sigh of relief. On its first day, the film pocketed Rs 13.10 Crores and on day-2, it was 17.10 Crores. By end of the first weekend, the film may have collected the 50 Crores. Also, the holidays over the week would advantage the film at box-office.

Having made on a budget of 18 Crores, Toilet is primarily focused to promote PM Narendra Modi’s dear scheme ‘Swachch Bharat’. With strong mouth talk, the film is doing exceedingly well and will stand out in Akshay’s career.

Trade analyst Tarak Adarsh predicted 48 Crores for the first weekend-, ‘#ToiletEkPremKatha Fri 13.10 cr, Sat 17.10 cr. Total: Rs 30.20 cr. India biz… ₹ 48 cr [+/-] weekend on the cards… SUPERB… #TEPK’.

Actress-turned-politician Vijaya Shanti has been staying away from politics since the last assembly election, but she made a big splash with her recent interview to a TV channel wherein Vijaya Shanti hints that she may strike back in politics soon.

According to the interview, the popular actress feels that ‘there is no wrong in dreaming to become Chief Minister‘ and she also admits to the query that if she’d like to be called as ‘CM Vijayashanti’.

‘To reach this point in politics/cinema, I had been through all the steps and after every success, we apparently wished for better chances and Superstar status. Like wise, I want my political career to be big as well,‘ said the veteran actress who shot to popularity with Osey Ramulamma.

She further continued – ‘with growing popularity comes growing problems. Since I was a popular politician across Telangana after my continuous struggle for separate state, some people who cannot accept it have designed a conspiracy to bring me down.’ When she was asked to offer a reply on -‘Had she been in a better place, if she’d stayed back in TRS?’ She tells- ‘I may be enjoying the cabinet ranks today but the politics of regional parties will never allow us to grow larger.

Ramulamma says she holds her gratitude for Congress party for making separate state dream a reality. She feels her 19 years for fight for separate state is biggest achievement in her career.

Naga Chaitanya, who’s getting married to Samantha on 6th of October, has received the best actor award for 2016 release ‘Premam’ at Santosham South Indian Film Awards on Saturday while Samantha elected as ‘best actress’ for ‘A..Aa’.

Chay, who received the award from ace producer Allu Aravind, attributed the achievement to his excelled performance in Premam. He said ‘the Malayalam version of Premam had immense impact on me & audiences, which eventually helped me gain applause from critics as well.’ The Akkineni actor added, ‘Samantha’s house is full of awards, and this one will add up it.’

The best director at Santosham Awards was won by Boyapati Sreenu for Sarrainodu and Aadi Pinisetty also bagged best villain award for the same flick. The event was attended by Movie Artists Association President Shivaji Raja, Naresh, Vijay Antony, Allu Sirish, Roshan, Mannara Chopra, Raj Kandukuri, Parichuri and comedian Sapthagiri.

Puri Jagan wanted to become writer-actor but became a director. Here is a curious case of a guy who wanted to become a composer, but became an actor, later turned writer and now finally making his directing debut along with realising music dreams.

None other than Harshavardan of Amrutham fame is the guy we’re talking about. After proving his mettle as a comedian, he became a writer for movies like Ishq and Gundejari Gallantayyinde. And today his debut film as a director, Good Bad Ugly is announced. In this period drama set in the 80s backdrop, anchor Srimukhi is essaying a key role. Big thing is that Harsha is also composing music for this movie.

“I wanted to become a composer and came to industry. But never got that dream realised though I’ve taken other paths. Now I can’t play any instrument but with my music sense and support from a technician, I’ve composed music myself” says Harshavardhan, justifying his turnaround.

Only if he scores a huge success with this debut project, he will surely get attention for his multiple talents for providing Story-Screenplay-Music-Dialogues-Direction to this movie. If the film back fires, then people might say he’s a jack of many trades but a master of none. Let’s see what happens.

“Entire two Telugu states are only talking about Rana and they seemed to have even forgotten the names of the lead actors of the other two films which released along with NRNM, ” says director Ram Gopal Varma who is in the process of lifting Rana to the sky for reasons that are known only to him.

Varma is known for taking pot shots at flop films and hailing hit movies as bigger ones than Hollywood films. Now that Rana scored a hit, for reasons unknown, he’s taking a dig at other movies. Also, he felt that more than his any assistants, Teja is the best.

Teja had the greatest talent among all my assistants and just one of the many proofs of my belief is that Teja made a super blockbuster hit Jayam with a nobody from the street called Nitin. Today Rana is already up there as an already existing volcano and where I failed in Department and various others failed in other films I am so thrilled it took the great Teja to push Rana to a bigger upper limit and for this I am so happy and so proud about both of them” his Facebook post read.

The classy Shekar Kammula film ‘Fidaa’ is bringing in some extraordinary money for distributors and exhibitors even in its fourth week of release, despite three major films this Friday. With fine performance by Sai Pallavi, Fidaa earned a massive response from audiences both domestically and overseas.

After the decent start, the Shekar Kammula directorial went on to effortlessly breach the prestigious $2+ million mark in US and is running strong, despite the strong tug-of-war between Jaya Janaki Nayaka, LIE and Nene Raju Nene Manthri that released this week. That is absolutely a big milestone achieved by Fidaa and producer Dil Raju is enjoying the series of successes this year.

So far the Telugu films that crossed 2 Million dollar mark in US are Baahubali : The Beginning, Srimanthudu, Nannaku Prematho, A..Aa, Khaidi No. 150, Baahubali : The Conclusion.

Directed by Shekar Kammula, Fidaa is a love-story of a Banswada girl and Indian-born NRI boy (played by Varun Tej). The Telangana-slang by Sai Pallavi and her fascinating performance as ‘Bhanumathi’ was quite appealing. Ever since its debut, the film had some dominating ticket sales at box-office and that helped the film to surpass the full-time collections of Attarintiki Daredi and Janatha Garage in United States.
