Like many other superstars of Bollywood, they all hail Baahubali for its brilliant collections from box office but in the end say, they didn’t watch it. After Salman Khan and Shahrukh, here comes the next Khan joining this bandwagon.
Other day at the trailer launch of “Secret Superstar” Bollywood media asked Aamir Khan if he feels pressurised due to the phenomenal success of Baahubali2, his reply was like this.
“I’m happy that Baahubali 2 showed us real potential of Hindi cinema which is way more than 500 crores. Also, the film cut all language barriers. Unfortunately, I didn’t found time to watch the film yet” he said.
That’s one epic response given by all big Bollywood Superstar and that explains how insecure they are about a regional Telugu film like Baahubali 1 and 2 shaking box offices up north. On the flip side, Aamir congratulated Baahubali team for such a phenomenal success.

Everyone including director Harish Shankar, producer Dil Raju and last but not the least hero Allu Arjun expected to recreate a bigger feat with DJ Duvvada Jagannadham. Fate has other plans for them, as all the stints worked only to a certain level at the box office and finally their hopes dashed.
Allu Arjun’s career biggest hit is rn”Sarrainodu” movie which made 76+ crores ‘share’ from box office across rnthe globe. Now, Bunny and Co have made sure that their new release will rnbeat this previous record as it is happening since some time. Race rnGurram has beaten previous ones, S/o Satyamurthy overtook Race Gurram rnand so. But to make it happen, Bunny should have taken the shoulder of rncontent, but he believed in extreme publicity.
Final figures do rnindicate that DJ Duvvada Jagannadham collected only 71+ crores share rnfrom across the globe, falling behind Sarrainodu collections. That way rnhopes of Bunny and his battalion got dashed at the box office. But for arn film that got a huge negative talk on day one, huge criticism from rncinema lovers and film critics, it’s an astounding feat to collect 70 rncrores share.
On the flip side, producer Dil Raju has already applied ointment to those who sustained injuries in the losses created by DJ to a little bit. His Fidaa is doing wonders for them and next time people buy a Dil Raju film they would surely feel happy as the producer will minimise the losses for sure. Maybe DJ team should thank Fidaa team as well for the help.

Krishna Vamsi who has been out of form from many years has come up with Nakshatram, a film with police backdrop. Notable star cast and Krishna Vamsi’s past record raised hopes on Nakshatram, but it turned out to be a very loud insensible film.
Story :
Rama Rao (Sundeep) comes from a family of police men. His only aim is to become a sub inspector. He overcomes all the hurdles to live his dream, but disaster strikes in the form of Rahul (Tanish) and Ramarao’s dreams are shattered. Ramarao decides to do the police work without being appointed and nabs a weapon smuggler. Ramarao happens to wear missing IPS officer Alexander’s (Sai Dharam Tej) uniform that puzzles the police department. Why did Alexander go missing and what happens to Ramarao’s dream of turning a cop?
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan is sincere in playing his part. Despite the eccentricity associated with his character, Sundeep comes up with a decent performance altogether. Sai Dharam Tej’s screen presence is good, but his character is poorly written. He doesn’t make any impact with his cameo. Regina oozes oomph and Pragya is fine as a badass police woman. Prakash Raj and Shivaji Raja are their usual self. Tanish is adequate as the drug addict. Tulasi is over the top. There is nothing much to write home about others including JD Chakravarthy.
Technicalities:
Krishna Vamsi’s intentions are good but the execution goes haywire. Everything about the film is over the top and unbearably loud. Even the making style of the film is stuck in nineties. It is pretty evident that Krishna Vamsi is totally out of form.
Music is unimpressive. The soundtrack lacks appeal and the background score is too loud. Editing is clumsy and cinematography is a disaster. It looks like a low quality product. Production values are very poor.
Thumbs Up:
Thumbs Down:
Analysis:
Krishna Vamsi films are usually loud and people who have watched his earlier films are well aware of it. But Nakshatram is on a whole new level in terms of loudness. It is louder even for Krishna Vamsi’s standards. The plot of the film itself sounds silly and unrealistic. The first half of the film is barely passable.
One would expect the second half to be better as Sai Dharam Tej’s cameo is in the offing. However, second half turns utterly terrible and even Tej’s special appearance couldn’t save it. His character is poorly etched and it hardly makes any impact due to badly conceived scenes. Climax is a slog. The film is an exhausting experience to its viewers as it never rises above the mediocrity at any point.
Adding to the poor script and pointless direction, artistes performances are alarmingly over the top that the film endlessly puts the audience patience to test. There is not a single point that makes Nakshatram sparkle for a bit. If first half is bad, the second half is terrible and there are no words to describe the pathetic climax. One would keep wondering what happened to the ‘creative director’ that have created some cinematic gems in the past.
On a whole, Nakshatram is the kind of a film that makes you regret for choosing to watch it over all other options. Watch it at your own risk!
Verdict: Fading Star.

After her manager Ronnie recently got arrested in drugs case, top actress Kajal Aggarwal has reportedly decided to manage her career on her own.
Ronnie’s arrest and the way her name has been dragged into the potentially detrimental drugs case, has reportedly disturbed Kajal very much. She is now treading with extreme caution and is in no moon to trust any outsider, however skillful and experienced he/she may be.
Although Kajal’s career is managed by her parents, her erstwhile manager Ronnie used to accompany her for film shoots, promotional events, endorsements etc. After his arrest, reports emerged that Kajal was looking to hire a senior and trustworthy manager but she ultimately decided to manage her activities on her own, with the support of her parents, according to latest reports.
On work front, Kajal is currently awaiting the release of Nene Raju Nene Mantri, on August 11 and Ajith’s Vivekam, on August 24.

Addressing a public meeting in Nandyal town on Thursday ahead of the by-poll on 23rd August, YSRC party chief YS Jagan made several scathing comments against AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. In an emotional outburst, he even said that Naidu should be shot in public for endlessly scheming people to gain votes with sympathy.
‘Chandrababu is no different from the person who himself kills his parents and tries to gain sympathy later. Looking at the deceptive ploys being used by Naidu to gain sympathy of voters in Nandyal, I feel that there is nothing wrong if he is shot in public,’ uttered Jagan.
This is not the first time Jagan made such serious comments against Chandrababu. But, uttering to shoot the CM of a state in a massive public meeting is something no leader has said ever.
The Opposition party head’s scathing statement shocked many. Reacting to it, a senior TDP leader said that the comment of Jagan only shows his desperation for power and the lowest level that he has stooped to.
“This is not the way a leader who runs a party should speak. Is this the way anyone should speak against the Chief Minister of a state? Jagan’s statement has irked many TDP workers and now they want to file a case against him in their personal capacity,” he added.
During his no-holds-barred speech, Jagan also alleged, “Chandrababu first backstabbed his father-in-law Sr NTR for power, but he has no shame in using his portraits while campaigning whenever elections come up. In the same way, Naidu betrayed Kapus but he brought Pawan Kalyan into the scene ahead of the Nandyal by-poll for vote bank.“

Filmmakers are resorting to various glamorous routes these days to bring attention to their project. Heroines have turned no less than item girls these days when it comes to flaunting hot curves and now Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez is taking that to new heights.
For the upcoming film “A Gentleman” directed by Raj and DK, heroine Jacqueline is giving her best when it comes to glamour. After delivering eye feasting treat in two songs, last night they have released Chandralekha song where Jacky is seen scorching the office place with her pole dance. While the moves itself are ravishing, her physical fitness is sure a heart squeezer.
In other songs like Bath Bang Gayi, Jacky already bowled out everyone through her swim wear look and now she’s going to heat up more. Siddharth Malhotra is the hero of this film and “A Gentleman” hits screens on August 25th.

Talented and beautiful stars are great to watch on screen and offscreen too. Many of those stars gather at award ceremonies every year and here is are 12 talented technicians caught in one frame flaunting their filmfare awards they won for last year in films of South.
From left to right, we have Suryah, Rithika Singh, AR Rahman, Madhavan, Shraddha srinath, Trisha Krishnan, Samantha, Nivi Pauly, Allu Arjun, Rakshit Shetty, NTR and Ritu Varma in once frame clicked by famous photographer Karthik Srinivasan.

At the moment, Overseas rights are the most discussed ones in Tollywood owing to the high amounts involved. Unlike local distributors who could very well manage the film distribution, USA distribution is little tricky and risky as well. But still, our producers are able to milk huge numbers, thanks to star power.
Recently both Mahesh Babu’s Spyder and Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa didn’t found any buyers in this region owing to the high prices they are quoting. Finally, Sypder got sold out for a staggering 15+ crores for both Telugu and Tamil overseas rights though the makers demanded 21 crores initially. At the same time, Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa demanded 18 crores initially but got settled with 10.1+ crores with no buyer coming forward to pick the movie.
If these two films score thunderous hits at the box office, then recovering this amount is a good possibility though distributors will not be eating huge profits. What if they failed to do so? A flop like Brahmotsavam collected only 1.2 million and blockbuster Janata Garage neared 1.7 million gross collections from USA box office. But now, to give their investment back, Mahesh Babu’s Spyder should collect 5+ million gross and Jai Lava Kusa should collect close to 3 million. So, how is the box office going to be?
Jr NTR’s triple action could be a show stealer in Jai Lava Kusa but sticking to just mass elements would prove fatal. At the same time Mahesh’s class looks in the role of a spy sounds interesting, but too much intelligence sans emotional content will ruin the show of Sypder. Any slight mismatch in expectations would make distributors lose millions in USA market. Hope that won’t happen!!

Bhanumathi alias Sai Pallavi, who has become the current toast of Tollywood with the success of ‘Fidaa’, claimed that she wouldn’t hesitate to turn down star heroes’ films if she doesn’t like the story and her character.
In a recent interview, when Sai Pallavi was asked why she had turned down a few films of star heroes, she reasoned, ‘I don’t see if it is a star hero’s film or small hero’s when I get approached. Story and my character are important for me. I don’t accept films just because they have star heroes in lead. I rejected a few big films because I didn’t like the story. Even for my future films, I will always prefer story over stars’.
After the success of Malayalam ‘Premam’, Sai Pallavi reportedly turned down a few biggies including a Chiyaan Vikram starrer. After making a sensational debut in Tollywood with ‘Fidaa’, she is once again being flooded with offers but the acne-faced actress hasn’t signed any other film except Nani’s ‘MCA’.
She confirmed that she had signed a three-film deal with Dil Raju and the third project after Fidaa and MCA is yet to be finalized.
Sai Pallavi has also completed the shooting of a Telugu-Tamil bilingual starring Naga Shourya. The film will hit screens by the end of this year.

Veteran Actress Jamuna, who is counted among the legends of Telugu cinema, was recently humiliated by a young hero, who hails from a well-established filmy family.
Jamuna has recently attended a marriage function where this young hero was also in attendance. People hoarding up around stars whenever they attend public events is very common. When more or less similar scenario happened at the wedding, the young hero’s bouncers pushed aside the people in their way.
They neither cared for the age nor the stature of 82-year-old Jamuna, while ruthlessly pushing her down. Reportedly, they didn’t bother to help her when she fell on the ground because of their push. Some people there rushed to her rescue after the bouncers moved away very causally.
However, what shocked everyone is the hero’s callous attitude in not even apologizing to the veteran actress after his bouncers insulted and physically abused (although unintentionally) her in public. The senior actress reportedly looked more hurt mentally than physically because of the humiliation.

Taking their protest against the spiked prices of tomatoes to a whole new level, the Congress party leaders in Lucknow opened ‘State Bank of Tomato’ on Thursday.
Members of the Congress party in Lucknow gave some thought to their brains and came up with the idea of opening ‘State Bank of Tomato’ to protest against the rising tomato prices. The bank offers attractive schemes like 5 times return within six months on tomatoes deposited, lockers for tomatoes, 80 per cent loans on tomatoes, attractive interest rates for depositing tomatoes etc.
Almost like a staged parody of how a normal money bank works, the ‘tomato bank’ will operate from 10am to 5pm, and will give loans on the deposits of tomatoes.
Unless you have been underground for last month, you would know that the prices of tomatoes have been highly inflated. As per the data released by consumer affairs ministry, tomato price in metros range from Rs 60-100/kg. The ministry is optimistic that the prices may come down in a fortnight.
