Small Film’s Lucky Run At Box Office!

Noted director Indraganti Mohanakrishna’s latest effort ‘Ami Thumi’ had a decent first week thanks to the conducive circumstances. Can the comic caper continue its lucky run in the second week?
Despite of negative reviews, the film however was benefited by lack of alternatives at Telugu box office. Both Baahubali 2 and Ra Randoi.. have significantly slowed down and none of the new releases could make an impression on audiences.
Amidst such favorable conditions, Ami Thumi had a decent run. The film reportedly landed its distributors in safe zone, thanks to the tight budget the film was made on. Vennnela Kishore’s current form and his impeccable comic timing was also instrumental in pulling audiences to theatres.
This Friday, four direct Telugu films and a few dubbed ones are hitting screens, the prominent among all of them is ‘Kaadhali’, which was promoted by Ram Charan, KTR, Samantha and Rana Daggubati. With these many new films hitting screens, audiences will have plenty of options and ‘Ami Thumi’ may lose its advantage of being the sole option.
Content matters in the end so if the new releases don’t have that appealing factor, Ami Thumi can enjoy another week of decent run until Bunny’s DJ hits screens next Friday, on June 23.

Two Deaths: Telangana SI – Andhra Beautician

Siddipet district Kukunoorpalli Sub Inspector P Prabhakar Reddy’s suicide mystery is yet to be cracked. Even as his family members are alleging harassment by higher officials has abetted 32-yr-old Prabhakar taking extreme step of killing himself with his service weapon, cops have unearthed a new angle in the case. According to police officials, Prabhakar Reddy’s suicide has been linked to the suspect death of Hyderabad-based beautician and married Andhra woman Sirisha who died a day before Prabhakar’s suicide.
According to media reports, Sirisha had last visited Prabhakar’s house along with two others Rajeev, Sravan the day before she was found dead in a settlement. While the four stayed till early morning next day and had heated debate, Prabhakar asked them to leave his home as he felt the things have gone out of hand, after which Sirish had left with Rajeev, Sravan to Hyderabad where Sirisha went inside her beautician studio and allegedly ‘hanged’ her self. While her family members allege it’s a murder, SI Prabhakar’s suicide the next day has made the case further complicated.
Cops suspect that Prabhakar’s suicide is connected with Sirisha’s death and a detailed probe has been going on. Apparently, Prabhakar’s call data has ‘revealed’ connection to Sirisha’s death. Police are going to interrogate Rajeev, Shravan. Apparently, Rajeev’s girlfriend Tejaswini had lodged a complaint on Sirisha alleging that Sirisha is ‘harassing’ her. Rajeev is Sirisha’s client. Sirisha does bridal-dressing, make-up and etc.
As per media reports and speculations, Sirisha used to visit Rajeev’s office often which raised suspicion for Tejaswini who subsequently complained in Banjara Hills police station. All the three have attended a counselling in Banjara Hills police station and went. But since their issues weren’t solved, Rajeev’s friend Sravan sought SI Prabhakar Reddy’s help. More details are yet to be furnished. Cops are probing the issue in all angles.
On other hand, earlier in Aug 2016, then Kukunoorpalli SI V Ramakrishna Reddy had committed suicide alleging harassment by Deputy Superintend of Police Sridhar Goud and other officers. With the second SI from same police station committing suicide in 9 months, allegations from a section has it that Prabhakar too took the step allegedly due to “pressures” from higher-officials.
Police has taken Prabhakar’s suicide very seriously. Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Father Turns Villain for Star Hero

Stylish star Allu Arjun’s new film ‘Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India’ was launched the other day. Senior Tamil actor Sarathkumar, who is playing a crucial role in the film, was also in attendance at the ceremony. He is reportedly playing the film’s lead baddie.
Now, going back to Allu Arjun’s earlier film ‘Bunny’, Sarathkumar played the father character of the star hero in that film. Director VV Vinayak portrayed Sarathkumar in a larger than life role, which connected well with masses and was one of key factors behind ‘Bunny’ becoming a huge blockbuster. Apparently, Allu Arjun and Sarathkumar didn’t have combination scenes in this film.
This is the second time Sarathkumar is acting in a Bunny starrer and this time, he is essaying his nemesis. It is an interesting case of an on-screen father turning into villain for a hero. Sarathkumar has rarely played negative roles after becoming a star hero in Tamil, which makes ‘Naa Peru Surya’ very special.
On the other hand, Action king Arjun is also essaying a key role in this film. Kannada actress Rashmika Mandanna has been rumored to have signed the film to play Bunny’s love interest. With an interesting title and an equally potential cast and crew, the film has set up very high expectations among audiences.
The Sad duty now his, Trump calls for unity after shooting

It was a sadly familiar ritual- an American president addressing the nation at an unsettling time, decrying violence while urging citizens to set aside their differences and pray for the recovery of victims.
But this time, it was President Donald Trump who was called upon to speak words of comfort in such a troubled moment, one fraught with the overtones of gun politics and the heated rhetoric of a nation sharply divided along party lines.
Mr. Trump’s measured response to Wednesday’s shooting at a congressional baseball practice stood in stark contrast to his inflammatory reactions to some previous acts of violence. He delivered a brief address from the White House Diplomatic Room in which he denounced the shooting of a top House Republican and others as a “very, very brutal assault.” He said that “many lives would have been lost without the heroic action” of Capitol Police officers who took down the gunman.
“We may have our differences, but we do well in times like these to remember that everyone who serves in our nation’s capital is here because, above all, they love our country,” Mr. Trump said. “We can all agree that we are blessed to be Americans, that our children deserve to grow up in a nation of safety and peace and that we are strongest when we are unified and when we work together for the common good.”
Republican Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana was shot in the early morning fusillade of gunfire, and several other people, including members of Scalise’s security detail, also were wounded. The gunman was killed.
On Wednesday evening, the President and first lady Melania Trump visited MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where Mr. Scalise remains in critical condition.
“The President entered the room, spoke with Scalise’s family members and sat by his bedside with Mrs. Trump,” Press Secretary Sean Spicer said, describing the scene in the intensive care unit as emotional. Mr. Scalise and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.
The President was briefed by Scalise’s medical team and also visited with Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner, who was shot in the ankle during the attack.
Back at the White House, Mr. Trump tweeted- “Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape — but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!”
Mr. Trump was informed of the shooting minutes after it occurred. The White House press office quickly put out a brief statement noting that Mr. Trump was “deeply saddened by the tragedy,” and the President followed up with a tweet- “Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.”
Wanting to present the President as a steadying hand and avoid any distractions after the shooting, the White House then quickly canceled a presidential event on apprenticeships at the Labor Department and scuttled any plans for a briefing. Instead, aides drafted the short, somber remarks Mr. Trump delivered from the Diplomatic Room.
The President praised Mr. Scalise as “a very good friend” and “a patriot,” telling the legislator he had “not just the prayers of the entire city behind you, but the entire nation and frankly the entire world.” He praised Capitol Police officers and first responders who mobilized at the softball field where the Republican baseball team was practicing ahead of Thursday night’s charity game against the Democrats.
“Their sacrifice makes democracy possible,” he said.
Mr. Trump also broke the news that the shooter, 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson of Illinois, had died. Hodgkinson had a history of lashing out at Republicans and apparently had volunteered for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.
Several prominent Republicans, including the President’s eldest son, were quick to link the gunfire to anti-Trump rhetoric from the left. But in the hours after the shooting, the President, whose pugnacious style has come to define this era of bruising partisanship, avoided any mention of the political debate surrounding the shooting.
Mr. Trump showed little of that restraint when reacting to acts of violence during his campaign. He drew sharp criticism a year ago when he tweeted “Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism” in the wake of the shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, that left 49 people dead. He also was accused of inciting violence when he warned that the “Second Amendment people” among his supporters might find a way to stop his opponent, Hillary Clinton, from rolling back gun rights.
Earlier this month he used Twitter to denounce the mayor of London in the wake of a terror attack that left seven dead there.
Mr. Trump’s brief speech at the White House was reminiscent of the more than a dozen times that his predecessor had to address the nation after a mass shooting. Some of the most indelible images of Barack Obama’s presidency followed an act of violence, including the tears in his eyes while mourning the 26 people, including children, killed in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012 and his rendition of “Amazing Grace” while delivering a eulogy after nine churchgoers were killed in Charlestown, South Carolina, three years later.
While Mr. Obama’s statements of mourning were frequently paired with a plea for stricter gun control laws, Mr. Trump did not mention firearms regulations.
