In this age when the craze for a movie is measured based on the number of views its promos garner on social media and how fast milestones are reached, Mahesh Babu’s SPYder teaser is setting up some enviable records.

Released on June 1, the glimpse of SPYder teaser clocked 10 million views in four-and-a-half days. This record looks even more staggering when we compare it with the time taken by teasers of other star-heroes’ films to reach this milestone – DJ (23 days), Saaho (30 days) and Katamarayudu (35 days). SPYder teaser reaching the same 10 million views mark in less than 5 days is truly a monumental feat.

The team of Spyder and fans of Mahesh babu will surely be elated with the euphoric response the teaser has garnered. Carrying humongous expectations, this action thriller will hit screens for Dussehra festival.

Interim, a huge Assembly set is being erected for Bharat Ane Nenu in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Mahesh will join the sets later this month, scenes featuring him as CM will be canned in this schedule.

The authenticity of this rumour couldn’t be verified because these types of money related stories generally arise whenever a biggie leaves this world. But some close associates of Dasari shared that in fact many others also took money from the legend and they have to return.

After making the film’s title – Nene Raju Nene Mantri – official, the makers have unveiled the film’s teaser today coinciding with the birth anniversary of veteran producer Ramanaidu.

Barely half-minute teaser stuck to Rana’s solo show. Director Teja seems to be keeping cards close to his chest. With voice of Posani playing in the background and Rana walking in style with panche-kattu in jail with a cigarette in hand, the teaser is stylish but lacks much substance. The film marks the maiden production of Suresh Babu for his son Rana’s film in association with another producer CH Bharath. It has to be seen how the film’s trailer would look.

When ‘Baahubali’ became a worldwide success, Telugu film fraternity was over the moon with pride and happiness. Along also came a sense of pressure to live up to the high standards set by the epic VFX extravaganza. Well, going by the happenings in last month, Baahubali’s effect on industry is more on positive side.

Post Baahubali’s phenomenon, a surge in the openings of even small films was observed. All the post-Baahubali notable releases such as Radha, Keshava, Ra Randoi, Andhhagadu etc. opened to the best numbers in the respective actor’s careers. This is a clear indication that audiences are not expecting Baahubali kind of experience form every film but they are coming to theatres considering only that film’s merits. So, no Baahubali pressure on new releases.

Coming to the biggies, the market has increased by at least 20 crores. Before Baahubali, 80 crore used to look like a benchmark to score industry hit in Tollywood but even 100 crore looks easy for biggies now, this fact was was proved by Megastar’s Khaidi No.150. Even a poor film like Katramarayudu collected a share in excess of 60 crore, imagine the result if it had received positive response.

Going by the pre-release business of upcoming biggies like #PSPK25, SPYder, DJ etc. a 20+ crore jump is seen compared to the actors’ respective previous films. Moreover, after the success of Baahubali, Bollywood filmmakers and North audiences are keenly looking towards Tollywood biggies, which will help Telugu filmmakers to strike good dubbing and remake deals. Filmmakers like Karan Kohar Johar are reportedly eyeing upcoming biggies such as SPYder to release them in North.

Our heroes have also started setting up multi-lingual projects, Mahesh’s SPYder, Saaho, Ram Charan-Mani Ratnam and Bunny-Lingusamy projects fall into this category. If these films click, we can expect more and more multilinguals to come out from Tollywood. And, in the coming two years, the market of Telugu cinema may go up by another 20-30 crore.

Owing to take his fans for a ride this time after a bitter disappointment from Brahmotsavam, Mahesh Babu has been continuously working without big breaks to make sure his next releases will be terrific. One of them is AR Murugadoss’ Spyder and another one is Koratala Siva’s Bharath Anu Nenu.

Coming to this new film under Koratala Siva’s direction, which unites the Srimanthudu duo yet again, shooting has already started. As discussed already in these columns numerous times, Mahesh will be seen as Chief Minister of a Telugu state in this movie.

If we have to talk about Mahesh’s look in the recent times, most of the films like 1-Nenokkadine, Brahmotsavam and Srimanthudu almost shown him in a similar look. But Koratala wants his CM to be little different.

Taking a cue from Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu’s handloom styled look, even Mahesh will sport a similar one, revealed a source. Currently, various other looks are also being tested on the superstar as Koratala wants his CM to kill it with looks itself. Whatever maybe his attire, styling and body language for this Chief Minister’s role, his looks will be safeguarded very carefully such that no leakages will be there before the first look comes out.

Meanwhile, Kiara Advani is rumoured to be the heroine of Mahesh Babu in this political drama, but Koratala Siva neither confirmed this nor denied.
