Ace director Rajamouli, who has cautiously kept the secret of having differences with Mega producer Allu Aravind for so long, has finally opened up. And, the reason is truly a surprising one.

In a latest interview, Rajamouli revealed how embarrassed he was when the makers of NTR’s ‘Simhadri’, his only second film as a director, endorsed fake 175 days record. ‘I was happy when ‘Simhadri’ ran for 100 days in record number of theatres. But, coming to 175 days centres, producers faked the number by adding 15 more, just for boasting of records,’ recollected Rajamouli.

‘Hence, I requested Allu Aravind garu in the pre-production stage of Magadheera itself that i am not comfortable with the unhealthy trend of faking records and he agreed not to repeat the Simhadri stunt. However, he went on to fake the 100 days centres of Magadheera and I was very disappointed. When I confronted him, he cited the sentiments of fans as the reason. I understood the pressure on him as a producer but my conscience didn’t allow me to endorse the idea of fooling people with fake numbers,’ Rajamouli revealed.

He however added that as rumors spread wildly, he was never angry with Aravind for not giving him due credit. ‘I was in disagreement with him for only the reason of 100 days centres of Magadheera. In fact, I was very comfortable working with Aravind garu,’ Rajamouli ended his shocking revelations on a positive note.

The summary of Rajamouli’s outburst is, records of ‘Simhadri’ and ‘Magadheera’ which fans have been boasting of all these years, are actually fake.

Hardly 10 days after officially launching the first look poster of Sanghamitra at Cannes International Film Festival, the film’s leading lady Shruti Haasan has walked out of the project.

While the exact reasons for Shruti opting out of the film are not known, it’s confirmed by the close sources that the Gabbar Singh actress is not part of the two-part magnum opus that is touted to be made with a staggering Rs 250 Crore budget.

The tri-lingual historic drama also features Jayam Ravi and Arya. The poster saw Shruti Haasan riding a horse with a sword in her hand. The makers had already invested a chunk of money on Shruti. Shruti had been trained in sword fighting in London over the last few weeks.

Directed by Sundar C, Shruti was supposed to play the role of a fierce warrior. Set in 8th century AD, the film will have music by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman.

Until the time filmmakers feel that aged heroine Sridevi is a timeless beauty, her tantrums keep growing, if we have to go by the reports being heard in Film Nagar. And from the statements given by SS Rajamouli, we have to say that they are indeed true.

Other day while sharing his thoughts on Open Heart program, Rajamouli revealed why they opted out to pick Sridevi. Of course, long back there was buzz that she demanded a whopping 5 crores to play Sivagami and that’s why they opted for Ramya Krishna. The fact is that Sridevi’s demands are not just over-the-board but also quite unethical.

“Sridevi asked for 8 crores. Apart from that, she wants five business class tickets whenever she has to fly to Hyderabad and fly back. And five business suites should be booked at the biggest hotel in Hyderabad for her entourage during their stay. We thought we would bargain on this, but there is another shocker. She wants a share in Hindi version of the film. We thought it’s pointless to demand and hence opted out. But in the end, our decision got right”, said Rajamouli, about casting Ramya Krishna and pushing Sridevi out.

A similar thing happened with Vijay’s “Puli” makers as well and they agreed to all of her demands. Later Sridevi lodged a legal case on the makers for not giving a share in Hindi version. Anyway, this demand sounds way too much.

As per our reliable sources, NTR has signed a deal with Star MAA channel to host Bigg Boss reality show in Telugu. As the makers were hellbent on roping in a star to host the show in Telugu, NTR was reportedly offered the highest sum that any Telugu actor has ever received for a TV stint. ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’, a docudrama made on the former cricketer, has put up an unprecedented performance and collected around 27.60 crore in the opening weekend (10 crore on Sunday). The numbers are on par with those of medium range Bollywood heroes’ commercial films.

Considering that ‘A Billion Dreams’ was only a documentary, with no songs, comedy, dramatic presentation in the name of cinematic liberties or any commercial element for that matter, the film’s performance is exceptional. Documentaries generally have very limited audiences so the film’s huge success can be attributed to only one factor, Sachin’s name.

It is the first documentary to have got a mainstream release in India (in about 2400 screens). How well the film sustains in the week days will depend on how long Sachin can pull audiences to theatres.

After having been in pre-production stage for a long time, ‘Mahanati’, a biopic on legendary actress Savitri finally went on floors on Monday at Ramakrishna studios in Hyderabad.

To be directed by Nag Ashwin of ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ fame, Mahanati has Keerthy Suresh essaying the role of Savitri. Samantha will be seen as a journalist. Vijay Devarakonda has been roped in to play the love interest of Sam whereas Malayalam actor Dulquer Salman will reportedly play the character of Gemini Ganesan.

The story of Savitri is inextricably linked to Telugu legends – NTR and ANR. It has to be seen who the makers rope in for these roles.
