Veteran director Mani Ratnam’s latest offering ‘Cheliyaa’ opened to below par reviews and disappointing box office numbers in the Telugu states.

The romantic drama starring Karthi and charming Aditi Rao Hydari could rake in only a meager share of Rs 60 lakhs in the Telugu states.

Below is the area wise break-up of share.

Ceded – 10,00,000

Nellore – 2,75,000

Guntur – 4,50,000

It is quite often that people in country make Bollywood responsible for growing attacks on women and eve-teasing but this time, it’s union minister for woman and child development – Menaka Gandhi, who made those sensational comments against Hindi film industry.

Menaka Gandhi, who attended as speaker on day-2 of Goa-Fest 2017, delivered a key message that ‘push woman through advertising’, besides taking a swipe at Bollywood Industry for generating content which is leveraging youngsters in nation to harass women in the name of love and Eve teasing.

‘Almost every Hindi film features an Eve teasing scene, objectionable content and boys pestering girl scenes. Even regional film makes no exemption to it,’ she said by adding ‘we would want Bollywood films to showcase our women in a respectable manner.’ Apparently, her comments drew mixed reactions from Bollywood industry.

Film director and social activist Ashok Pandit strikes back saying, ‘it has become fashion for everyone to attack Bollywood’ and appealed union minister not to under-estimate the power of film industry. He further added, ‘we had many directors right from Shyam Benegal to Madhur Bhandarkar who’ve always presented women respectable roles and made female-oriented films too.

New Category In National Film Awards

Although National Awards in India cover wide range of categories, from best actor to best make-up artist and from best film to best costume designer, but they always missed to include an important category in list of awards – Best stunt choreography.

Only after continuous demand from fight masters over last few years, the jury team considered to perceive their request this year and recognized their efforts by introducing a new category in the 64th national film awards – Best Stunt Choreography.

Having declared the choreography award to India’s No.1 Peter Hein for Pulimurugan (Malayalam), the jury recognized his talent. Peter worked for many monstrous movies in the past, like Baahubali and Robot, but he finally received a national award for Puli Murugan starring Mohanlal.

The high ratings and critical reception for the film Puli Murugan also credit the top-notch action episodes designed by Peter Hein. And it is no surprise to have awarded him the very first national award (in stunt choreography category).

Easy Way To Get Baahubali 2 Tickets

Share

bahubali 2

Popular Hindi filmmaker Karan Johar, who is known for his business acumen, looks to have come up with a plan to leverage the Baahubali craze.

It is known that the Hind version of ‘Baahubali’ first part was re-released by Karan Johar on 7th April in around 1000 screens. Given how eagerly people are waiting for the second part, getting tickets on the first few days will surely be difficult. In such case, movie lovers won’t mind coughing up more than deserved bucks to grab the tickets.

To take full advantage of this craze for Baahubali 2, Karan Johar has announced that whoever watches the re-released Baahubali in theatres, will surely be given tickets of ‘Baahubali 2’. The madness for ‘Baahubali 2’ might propel people to watch the first part once again in the hope of grabbing tickets of second part.

Apparently, Johar has not specified whether the tickets will be given on the first day? after first weekend? or after more than a week?  Without making this clear, he has announced to give away Baahubali 2 tickets on the only condition of watching first part. Isn’t this an act of preying upon people’s emotions? Isn’t this plain looting?

In its bid to curb the uncountable channels that are being created in the hope of earning easy money, popular video sharing medium YouTube has come up with strict rules.

From now on, Newly created channels will have to get a minimum of 10,000 lifetime views before they can start earning money through adverts on their channels. Once a channel hits the 10,000 views mark, YouTube will evaluate whether the particular channel is adhering to its guidelines before considering it for its Partner Program. YouTube said that the new rules will help it restrict content theft and fake channels.

“Publishers are increasingly going to spend their money on digital so they are going to be asking for more in terms of their ads appearing alongside the right content. These new guidelines will help ensure revenue only flows to creators who are playing by the rules,” said YouTube in a blog post.
