Beating the odds and surprising most part opf the world, Donald Trump has finally landed in the White House as the 45th President of United States of America. If we have to rank the factors that worked in his favor, his strong views on immigration and H-1B visas can be arguably number one.

As the verbose businessman turned US President has time and again expressed his severe dissent over H-1B visas and outsourcing jobs, there is curiosity over what steps he would take. Interim, have a look at the rhetoric statements of Trump over H-1B visa issue during his election campaign.

1. Trump said that he will hike the minimum wage paid to H-1B visa holders, which may reduce the job opportunities for Indian IT professionals.

2. He also assured that he will impose 35% tax on the American firms that lay off local workers and outsource jobs to other countries including India.

3. Accusing the US companies of importing low-wage workers on H-1B visas instead of hiring young college-trained American students, Trump vowed to protect American jobs for the local skilled workforce.

4. Trump accused US tech giant IBM of laying off 500 workers and shifting their jobs to India and other countries. “Trump administration will stop the jobs from leaving America, and we will stop the jobs from leaving Minnesota,” Trump said during his speech in Minneapolis during his election campaign.

5. Trump is not leaving anyone when it comes to H1B Visa demands, like he came down on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for his demand to triple H1Bs.

6. ‘Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry-level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the US, instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas,’ Trump’s immigration policy paper said.

7. To appease the immigrants, he also has used his sugar coated tongue and said that he was in favor of people coming into the US legally, be it on visas or work permits. ‘We need skilled people in this country and if we can’t produce, we will have to get them in. H-1B visas enable our firms to recruit and retain offshore talent,’ he added.

8. Trump added that students from different countries come to the US for better education and that they desperately try to stay in this country after their studies.

9. On the whole, as per a policy paper on immigration, Trump made it clear that he was not completely against outsourcing but that his priority is to ensure that jobs are offered to Americans first before looking for outside talent.

In view of the increased threat perception particularly from extremists, the security cover has been increased to AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu by the union government. The security cover was improved five fold from the existing three fold by providing another group of NSG (National Security Guard) commandos.

With this, Naidu will be restricted from meeting people in the public places and also will not be allowed people to meet him without any security check. As a result he will lose free walk in the meeting and visits in the villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and Delhi particularly.

Recently, the intelligence wing of the union Home ministry alerted the AP police that Naidu is reportedly facing a threat to his life as a group of naxals allegedly belonging to the banned CPI (Maoist) party planned to attack him in New Delhi.

It may be mentioned here that Naidu was attacked by Naxals during his visit to Tirumala and escaped with injuries in October 2003.

It is learnt the naxals conducted recce at least six times at AP Bhavan and also identified spots to attack the leader anytime in the next visit to the national capital. Alerted AP police immediately swung into action and began efforts to tighten security by deploying more forces. Naidu also reviewed the security arrangements at AP Bhavan with top police.

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu should take inspiration from Tamils, who had taken the Centre by its horns and got the ordinance approved to allow their traditional game Jallikattu.

“They made the Centre to bow before their demand within three days by taking up a massive agitation. But we have not been able to get even the assurances made in the AP Reorganisation Act fulfilled even after three years. Why do we lack the fighting spirit?” asked senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao, in an open letter to Naidu on Saturday.

KVP said the state could not achieve even a single demand, whether it is the special category status to Andhra Pradesh, securing separate railway zone for Visakhapatnam, special financial package to north coastal Andhra or Rayalaseema, filling up of revenue loss, Kadapa steel plant and many other issues.

“This is mainly because of lack of unity among ourselves. Because we are fighting among ourselves, we have fallen down in the eyes of the Centre. It is time we fight unitedly and bring pressure on the Centre to achieve our demands,” he said.

Surprising as it might sound, a YSR Congress party MLA has come forward to resign from his assembly membership to make way for Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh to contest in the by-elections and win the seat, so that the latter could become a minister in the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.

The MLA is N Amarnath Reddy, who has defected from the YSR Congress party into the TDP. Representing Palamaner assembly constituency in Chittoor district, Amarnath Reddy is learnt to have made the offer at a meeting of the TDP leaders convened by Naidu during his recent visit to Chittoor district.

The party leaders were requesting the chief minister to induct Lokesh into the cabinet, but Naidu reportedly told them that his son wants to become an MLA first and then become a minister, but he does not want to make an indirect entry into the cabinet by becoming MLC. Since there are no by-elections in the near future, the chances of Lokesh entering the cabinet are bleak, Naidu said.

At this stage, Amarnath Reddy got up and said he was ready to resign from his seat for Lokesh Babu.

“I will sacrifice my seat for Lokesh. I will ensure that he will win with thumping majority from Palamaner,” he said.

Though Naidu was very happy with the offer, the other party leaders said it would send wrong signals into the people and the opposition party might demand the resignation of other MLAs who jumped into the TDP. So, Naidu dropped the idea.

However, Amarnath is happy that Naidu had acknowledged his sacrifice and is hopeful that his sacrifice would be rewarded appropriately.

Donald Trump could probably be the happiest person on the planet at the moment as he finally has taken after Barack Obama as the new President of the United States. However, the fun loving entrepreneur might not be too happy with the new phone that he has to embrace out of compulsion.

As a result, he will have to give up his favorite Samsung Galaxy and reluctantly accept a highly secure and encrypted BlackBerry ‘smartphone’, which might not be too smart for Trump’s needs.

The Secret Service approved phone will not boast even the basic features of a smartphone like camera, texting features, music playback etc, citing security reasons. Trump would not be able to call or even send texts to his friends.

Obama once commented that as the US President, he uses a ‘phone’ that even kids would feel useless. Imagine the plight of Trump with his new ‘Smart’phone.

The cricket teams of India and England, which arrived in Kolkata on Friday to play the third and final ODI of the three-match series had to spent at least 30 minutes in a traffic jam.

After landing at Kolkata airport, the team buses, which were ferrying the players to the hotel, got stuck in the traffic. Then, it took a herculean effort for the Rapid Action Force personnel escorting the players to the hotel to keep the by-passers away from the buses as several fans tried their best to click selfies with their favorite cricketers.

On Friday, Kolkata city witnessed huge traffic jams at several places due to large presence of VVIPs including President Pranab Mukherjee and Ex-PM Manmohan Singh.

India currently leads the (ODI) series 2-0 after the close yet memorable wins in Pune and Cuttack. The 3rd ODI will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.

Barack Hussein Obama, who’s now officially the former president of US, has been replaced with the new president Donald Trump sometime back. After taking inviting the new president couple to White House, Obama and Michelle had his way out of office.

Having inspired and liked by millions of people across America, Obama left office with a lasting mark on administration. Over the last eight years, he might have phoned thousands of leaders and people from the White House building. But, as the President of America, who do think Barack made his final call to?

In a historic farewell call, the 55-year old president phoned to one of the world’s most powerful woman and a leading administrator in Europe.

According to White House’s statement, Obama had his final telephone conversation with Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel before the former was leaving office and praised her as the “most reliable international partner he’s had”.

Over the years, the duo have always maintained a good relation to strengthen the ties between US and Germany and also, they share mutual veneration for each other.

Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s will make a big surprise to Telangana people on his 63th birthday on February 17. The much hyped KCR’s autobiography will be released on his birthday as KCR is busy writing his autobiography and his daughter and MP K Kavitha is extending all support to finish writing the book at the earliest.

KCR’s close associates said, the CM completed almost 70 per cent of writing and busy in compiling the details of the Telangana movement launched in 2001 and his childhood days in consultation with his close friends and followers.

Several important issues like the support he got from other party leaders during Telangana movement and his struggle to protect the movement during chief minister YS Rajasehkar Reddy’s rule in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. KCR will also reveal many secrets including his close association with congress leaders at the centre and the reasons for quitting TDP before launching the Telangana movement.

Govt. owned flier, Air India has shifted 57 cabin crew members to ground jobs after labeling them overweight.

These crew members reportedly had a higher than permitted body mass index (BMI). Some time ago, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had found most of the crew members having disproportionate body weight and they were asked to lose weight in the given deadline.

As some members could not do so, they were temporarily (for six months) relegated to ground jobs. A ground job means loss of flying allowance of around Rs 40,000 a month. If these crew members, mostly air hostesses, don’t get back in shape in the stipulated time, they will be assigned ground duty permanently.

As per the guidelines of DGCA, the ideal BMI for a cabin crew is 18-25 for male and 18-22 for female. Most of the cabin crew that have demoted reportedly had BMI over 30.

There were many debates and amendments about the syllabus and exams for kids in school but there has not been much about school hours for kids below 5th standard so far, which needs the focus at this moment.

Minister KTR too agrees on children need their childhood and shares a picture of a kid with her breakfast half eaten roti in his pocket and half-asleep while standing during the morning anthem at school. This heart breaking picture clearly shows how today’s child’s ‘running to school’ has become all his childhood and has to forcibly ignore food and sleep.

“I agree completely. That’s a picture that just breaks your heart. Children need a childhood & not this sort of a pressure cooker environment” KTR Tweeted.

While many are suggesting on bringing the change in school timings to 10am to 5pm, also there are tweets from people who blame parents for their kids’ incomplete sleep.
