Darsakendra K Raghavendra Rao would be quitting direction after his ongoing film Om Namo Venkatesaya with Nagarjuna as the lead. None other than Nagarjuna himself divulged this at the audio launch of Om Namo Venkatesaya held on auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi day.

Nag speaking at the event shared that Raghavendra Rao had told him that this film would be his last film and hence he is making it a memorable and remarkable in everyone who is associated with it.

Interestingly the film happens to be 108th film of Raghavendra Rao. Nag wished that ONV would be classic like his Manam which was the last film of his father ANR.

Meanwhile, the film is slated for a world-wide release on Feb 10. Let’s wait and see whether Nag-KRR recreate their magic or not.

Dangal, a thorough blockbuster material, is rewriting all existing box office numbers in India and finally on 17th day from its release, the movie emerged out to be the highest earner among Hindi films.

Having won the likes of both audiences and critics, Dangal outperformed Aamir’s previous blockbuster PK, Salman’s Bhajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan as well to claim the top spot. With Dangal taking rank 1, the following are other highest grossers, 2. PK, 3. Bhajranji Bhaijaan, 4. Sultan and 5. Dhoom-3.

Dangal, which minted 300 Crore on its 13th day, achieved an incredible record in Bollywood as it breached the record of top grosser PK (330.96cr) on 17th day (Sunday) with 340.8Cr, according to BO analyst Taran Adarsh. Reportedly, Dangal is Aamir Khan’s third movie to list in top five Bollywood grossers.

The big-budget biopic of Phogat sisters have come out at the right time and is still having serious legs at the box-office. While Dangal does have the capability of sending you out of a theater with great feel and brilliant performances of the cast, it also has the strength to pass a strong message for all girls out there.

The film was also awarded tax exemption in many states of the country. When it comes to overseas, it has pocketed $25.58 million (174.30 Crore) in USA, Canada and Australia.

King Nagarjuna’s upcoming devotional entertainer ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’s theatrical trailer was unveiled by producer Shobhu Yarlagadda during the audio launch of the movie held on Sunday, January 8.

It seems the makers haven’t worked much on trailer as it appeared to be an extension of teaser. Most of the scenes shown in the trailer were already seen in teaser.

Anushka’s ‘Koti koti dandalatho koneti raayudaa’ song was impressive and the actress looked ravishing as Krishnamma. The dice game between lord Venkateswara and Nagarjuna generates great curiosity on the story. Nagarjuna’s intense dialogue assured a little mass elements in the film and it goes on, ” “Ee konda pai evari meeda eega vaalinattu thelisinaa, ee ugra Srinivasa Murthy sakshigaa, Jwala Narasimmuni sakshigaa, padivela sheshula padagala sakshigaa em chesthano cheppanu.” Keeravani’s BGM and tunes, K Raghavendra Rao’s expertise in direction, artist’s performance and interesting VFX might make the movie a big hit.

Initially, Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s ‘Dhruva’ was expected that it’s business would be closed at around $1 M in the US. The film, however, has recorded long run and minted $1.55M collections in the territory. As a result the movie comfortably fell into the profit zone. It was earlier reported that additional screens were added during the fifth weekend’s run of the film.

On the other hand, ‘Dhruva’ is expected to hold a few theaters for Sankrathi run across Telugu states. The film is reported to have collected around Rs.57 crores world wide share so far. As we know, Ram Charan played a tough and stylish cop in the film while Arvind Swamy  essayed an antagonist.

Young Tiger NTR appeared to have been inspired by his babai Basava Rama Taraka Putra Balakrishna’s new film’s title ‘Gauthamiputra Satakarni’. It was reported a few days before that a title ‘Jai Lava Kusha’ was registered at the film chamber by NTR Arts.

It is a known thing that Kusha and Lava are the sons of lord Sri Rama. Since his babai got the title which has historical significance, NTR might have preferred our mythologies to get his new film title confirmed. However, the makers haven’t confirmed title yet.

Archana aka Veda is one unlucky actress who couldn’t make it big despite having the acting abilities and oomph factor. The actress in her latest interview has expressed her angst for rejecting an offer made by top director Rajamouli SS.

Archana revealed that she had rejected a role in ‘Magadheera’ and it fell in the lap of Saloni. Explaining the circumstances under which she had to lose such a golden chance, she added, ‘after making my debut as lead heroine with Naresh’s ‘Nenu’, I made the biggest mistake of my career by playing a supporting role in ‘Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana. I feel that mistake killed my heroine chances in tollywood. I used to cry everyday on that film’s sets’.

‘After that film, Rajamouli sir approached with the offer of ‘Magadheera’. Fearing it was another supporting role, I rejected it and that was the second biggest mistake of my life. Had I done that film, I might have played the lead role in his ‘Maryada Ramanna’ as well. I wanted to ask apology to Rajamouli,’ she said.

Poor Archana confessed that because of those mistakes, her career never took off in tollywood.

As Telugu film lovers are just days shy of watching the films of two of the top most senior heroes of Tollywood, here is a comprehensive analysis on how much megastar’s Khaidi No.150 and Balakrishna’s Gautamiputra Satakarni need to collect at box office to be called hits.

GPS has done the career best pre-release business for Balayya. As the craze for the film is at peaks, the distribution rights of AP especially were bought for huge prices. With Rs 11 Cr from Nizam and Rs 28+ Cr from AP, GPS has done Rs 39+ Cr business in the Telugu states. Adding the close to Rs 10 Cr theatrical business from Karnataka, Rest of India and Overseas, GPS has done a total business of Rs 49+ Cr.

So, the film needs to collect around Rs 50 Cr share from its theatrical run. Given the Sankranthi season advantage and tax exemption in the Telugu states, recovering this amount doesn’t look tough for the Balayya starrer provided it offers decent content.

On the other hand, the rights of Khaidi No.150 have been sold for a total of close to Rs 84 Cr (Nizam – 21, Andhra – 43, Overseas – 10, Rest of India & Karnataka – 10). So, Khaidi needs to amass over Rs 84 Cr share from theatrical run to land its distributors in safe zone. The number looks huge and so does the craze surrounding this project.With good content offered, Sankranthi season has the potential to make both these films score hits.
