The researchers have claimed that at least one in four children told that they were pressurized by their friends. Researcher Thomas J. Holt said, “This is not to downplay the danger of pedophiles acting online, but it does draw attention to the potential threat of child sexual victimisation by the people our kids are closest to, the people they spend the greatest amount of time with online.”

The study stated that the children with low self esteem and were more harassed online and even though parental-filtering was under-taken, it noted that 24 percent of the respondents were harassed so far.

The researcher informed that such a sensitive issue could not be solved technologically but only after deep and understanding conversation between the child and parent is engaged.

He added that such conversations could be tricky and difficult to deal with since they relate to sex and such an open dialogue can minimize the risk of any harassment. The research is published in the Journal of Contemporary Criminal Justice.

Hyderabad Turns Into ‘Pink City’

Share

trs_hoardings1452245333

Jaipur in India is famous as ‘Pink City’. But it might have to make way soon for Hyderabad for that appellation. The entire city of Hyderabad has been flooded with placards, posters and giant hoardings featuring the TRS Party and leaders in view of the upcoming GHMC elections.

With virtually every nook and corner being taken over by the TRS, the opposition parties are dismayed at lack of space to showcase their own candidates and achievements.

And conveniently forgotten amid all the color of the poll activity is the High Court order that had called for all the hoardings featuring politicians in the city to be removed on a war footing. While the existing hoardings have not yet been removed, newer ones in far more numbers have come up. Such is the respect shown for the judiciary in the state’s capital.

Is the Babai-Abbai war turning into a bitter fight?

Is the Sankranthi film war getting political? Is ‘Alludu’ entering into the Sankranthi film battle for his ‘Mamagaru’? Is operation ‘Mamaku Prematho’ on to fail ‘Nannaku Prematho?’ Is the Babai-Abbai war turning into a bitter fight for political upmanship? Sources now say that Nara Lokesh has entered the Sankranthi film war between Nannaku Prematho and Balayya’s Dictator.

Lokesh is allegedly talking to the exhibitors and distributors and is asking them not to get deeply involved in the film. Allegations are afloat online and NTR camp is blaming Lokesh. They claim that Lokesh is asking the exhibitors and distributors to ensure that Nannaku Prematho fails. Interestingly, some people threatened NTR’s friends and directors not to attend the Nannaku Prematho audio release.

Sources say that if Nannaku Prematho becomes a hit, then NTR could grow as a political rival to Lokesh. Hence, Balayya’s group is accused of trying to ensure that the film fails in both Andhra and Ceded areas, where TDP is in power. But, they are not very worried about Telangana, where the TDP has little stakes. This is a clear indication, according to NTR fans that political forces are trying to ensure that Jr NTR’s film fails.

This Top Director Is Now Begging For Work

Share

Puri-Jagannadh_0

This director is a fiery runner. He doesn’t like to rest and makes films at supersonic speed. If one film is over, he is always ready with another. How does it feel for such a dashing director to be out of work? He’ll go mad for sure. That precisely is speedster Puri Jagan’s story. The director, who readies a script in weeks and makes a film in months, has no work now.

Though he has ‘Rogue’ on hand, things aren’t moving the way they should. So, it is rumoured that he is approaching producers to make films with him as director. The problem for Puri is that he has a huge office and a big establishment to maintain. Without work, all these will turn into white elephants. But, the bigger problem is the producer will come forward to make a film only when a hero is ready to act. So, Puri should first approach the heroes, not producers. If the heroes are ready, the producers will follow.

But, the hitch is his Guru Ram Gopal Varma has already ruffled the feathers of most heroes in the industry with his mad tweets. He made enough comments on Mega family and criticised all heroes for not donating for flood hit Chennai. He has also tweeted that new comer Raj Tarun is better than many big heroes. All these have surely upset the big names in Telugu film world. Now, everyone knows that Puri admires his guru RGV to no end. Those in the know feel that big heroes, who are upset, might stay away from working with this RGV sishya.

Why The Center Will Not Contribute

The spending spree of Chandrababu Naidu has once again landed AP in a financial mess. Despite increase in revenue from commercial taxes, land registrations and sale of liquor, the AP government is left with a financial deficit of Rs 12000 crore for the last nine months.

Probably, the only state where increase in revenue leads to increase in deficit. Why has this happened? Fiscal irresponsibility! For example, the Godavari Pushkarams were allotted Rs 300 crore, yet the government ended up spending Rs 1600 crore for it not to mention the loss of lives as well. Rs 100 crore has been spent on the renovation of the Chief Minister’s camp offices in Vijayawada and Hyderabad.

A fitment of 43% has been given to employees who refuse to move out of Hyderabad. And do you know how much it has cost the state for the travel of Ministers in chartered flights for the last one year? Just Rs 70 crore. Naidu once again is looking to the Center to bail AP out of its predicament. But the BJP will not do it. They strongly disapprove of the financial loot by Naidu in the name of development and hence view with suspicion, each and every appeal of the latter.

Junior NTR’s appearance as contestant in hot-seat sitting opposite to host Nagarjuna in Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu (MEK 3) show is pretty much popularized on social networking sites. With time nearing for ‘Nannaku Prematho’ release, promotions are in full swing and NTR attending MEK 3 is one such wonderful publicity stint. However, the teaser of NTR and Nag on the show telecasted by MAA TV also gained immense response.

As per the reports, NTR won Rs.12.5 Lakhs prize money on the show and this total bounty is donated to NTR Trust and Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital with 6.25 Lakhs each. Ever since, the widening gap between NTR and Balakrishna is used to create rifts between Nandamuri Fans dividing into Tarak and Balayya groups, this noble thought of Young Tiger to donate the whole prize money for the above said two institutions should be seen as a generous move.

Whatever, ‘Nannaku Prematho’ has become the most prestigious film for NTR in recent times and a clash between NTR, Balakrishna made the atmosphere more volatile. Before the actual battle, let us enjoy Tarak on MEK 3.

Islamic State affiliate owns up Libya attack

An Islamic State affiliate in eastern Libya is claiming responsibility for Thursday’s suicide truck bomb attack targeting a police base in the town of Zliten.

In a statement posted on the Twitter accounts of IS sympathisers several hours after the attack, the group calling itself the IS Barqa Province said the attack was carried out by Abu al-Abbas al-Muhajir, who detonated his explosive-laden truck among the Libyan border police at the base. The attack killed at least 60 policemen and wounded around 200, according to Libyan authorities. The last name, al-Muhajir, implies that the attacker was not Libyan.

Earlier Thursday, the IS-affiliated Aamaq News Agency also claimed the attack was carried out by the extremist group’s Barqa Province affiliate.

The princess and the CIA

PrincessAshraf_2688648f

Iranian Princess Ashraf Pahlavi, the twin sister of the country’s deposed Shah whose glamorous life epitomized the excesses of her brother’s rule, has died after decades in exile. She was 96. Many in Iran before the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution believed Princess Ashraf served as the true power behind her brother, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and pushed him into taking power in a 1953 coup engineered by the U.S. Immortalised in her royal prime by an Andy Warhol portrait with bright red lips and raven-black hair, Princess Ashraf’s years out of power more resembled a Shakespearean tragedy. Assassins killed her son on a Paris street just after the Islamic Revolution, her twin brother died of cancer shortly after, while a niece died of a 2001 drug overdose in London and a nephew killed himself in Boston 10 years later.

Still, she always defended her brother’s rule and held onto her royal past. “At night, when I go into my room, that’s when all the thoughts come flooding in,” the princess told The Associated Press in a 1983 interview in Paris. “I stay up until 5 or 6 in the morning. I read, I watch a cassette, I try not to think. But the memories won’t leave you.” Reza Pahlavi, a son of the Shah, announced his aunt’s death in a Facebook post on Thursday night. Her personal website said she died Thursday, without elaborating. A longtime adviser to Princess Ashraf in New York could not be immediately reached for comment Friday. In Iran, local media reported her death relying on international reports. State television reported she died in Monte Carlo and described her as being famous for being corrupt.

Born October 26, 1919, Princess Ashraf was the daughter of the monarch Reza Shah, who came to power in a 1921 coup engineered by Britain and later was forced to abdicate the throne after a 1941 invasion by Britain and Russia. By 1953, America helped orchestrate the coup that overthrew Iran’s popularly elected prime minister, Mohammad Mossadegh, over fears he was tilting toward the Soviet Union. That brought her brother to power and set the stage for decades of mistrust between the countries. But the shah was “a man of indecision,” according to a long-classified CIA account of the coup first published by The New York Times in 2000. To push the coup along, the plotters reached out to “the shah’s dynamic and forceful twin sister” who already had been in touch with U.S. and British agents, according to the account. After “considerable pressure” by her and a U.S. general, the Shah reportedly agreed.

As her brother’s government ruled in opulence and its secret police tortured political activists, Princess Ashraf focused on women’s rights in an appointment to the United Nations. She travelled widely and became known for gambling on the French Riviera, the French press dubbing her “La Panthere Noire,” or “the Black Panther.” She survived a 1977 apparent assassination attempt in Cannes that killed her aide and wounded her chauffer. The political opposition during the shah’s era criticised Princess Ashraf over allegations of corruption, as well as her highly publicised love affairs with Iranian actors and public figures. She and her sister, Shams, also were among the first Iranian women to go in public with their hair uncovered, breaking traditional norms in the Shia country.

After her brother’s 1979 overthrow in Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Princess Ashraf shuttled between homes in Paris, New York and Monte Carlo. She published a memoir and remained outspoken immediately after the overthrow. “After the death of my brother, if we had had the $65 billion some people said we had we would have retaken Iran just like that,” she told the AP in 1983. Princess Ashraf married and divorced three times in her life and had three children. She gradually faded from public view in later years, though she attended U.S. President Richard Nixon’s funeral in 1994. And she always maintained she regretted nothing. “I would want to do the same thing. It’s passed, now, only memories. But there were 50 years of grandeur, of glory,” she once said.

TECH FOR THE FUTURE Virtual Reality is set to invade the market

Share

Capture_2686971g

In today’s fast-paced world of daily changes in technology, and the way people interact with it, it is always a challenge to predict trends for a full year ahead. However, I have chosen to put my finger on six technologies that I feel will make a splash in 2016.

Virtual Reality, Ever since Facebook bought Occulus VR in 2014, geeks and fanboys have been eagerly waiting for them to release something mainstream and affordable. I feel 2016 will be the year that happens. All you do is strap on the VR headset, and enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game, a movie scene or a place far away. The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel you’re actually in another place with other people. People who’ve tried it say it’s different from anything they’ve ever experienced. A rudimentary device from Google called Cardboard brought The New York Times’ VR app to life, using the smart phone, at a cost of U.S. $15. This low-cost option is just the beginning. I look forward to more business and collaborative applications of VR to make it fly in 2016.

Wearables, The Apple watch came and is almost gone like the Google glass, but these are just indicators of greater things to come. 2016 will see a plethora of ‘wearable devices’ being launched — from basic fitbits that track your health and activity and clothes that change colour based on one’s mood, to people trackers that let us know where our near and dear ones are at all times and sportswear that track and correct your gait and form. A truly exciting time for wearable tech.

Artificial intelligence, AI has been part of sci-fi movies for many years now. We have all been truly fascinated by robots and machines that do all our work. IBM’s Watson project module on medical diagnosis can now theoretically tell us with accuracy what our ailments are. Computers now come with cognitive programming, to be able to ‘understand’ and decide. These are again the basic building blocks to AI going mainstream. In the U.S., they have made robot vacuum cleaners that not only clean the house, but also go to their charging docks when low on power, and restart where they left off once charged. AI will soon be part of our daily lives.

3D printing, This is one of the simplest concepts that took a long time to fructify, and even then, there were not too many takers. 2015 saw many innovative uses for 3D printing, including 3D-printed burgers, guns and body parts. 2016 will be the year when it will become mainstream, and the possibilities are endless. Regenerating human tissue Though in its infancy, the use of cell technology is seen to improve the surgical approach to grafting bone, the second-most implanted human material. Labelling as ‘preposterous’, the fact that the only way to get human bone is to cut it out of a person, scientists and doctors are spearheading an astonishing advance in tissue engineering. They are developing a technique to use cells from a patient’s own body to grow living, personalised bone grafts — and in doing so, create a next-generation technology that is inspired by the wonders of the human body itself.

Mobile payments, As the number of mobile phones now far outnumber the number of humans on earth, and due to the fact that all of us use our mobiles as literal extensions of our bodies, the next wave of technology that has been unleashed in the West is mobile payments. It will soon come to India. Now, there will be no need to carry cash or credit cards, etc. All you need to do is show your phone to the cashier machine and either enter a PIN on the phone or just use your fingerprint sensor on the device for the transaction to be completed. This is revolutionising the way e-commerce and regular commerce is transacted and will make us further dependent on our smart phones.

Tarun Comeback With Idi Naa Love Story

Share

tarun-comeback-with-idi-naa-love-story_b_0801160121

Tarun is one of the most under rated heroes in Tollywood after the superb take-off of his career is back here to entertain us with a new movie titled ‘Idi Naa Love Story.’ On the occasion of his birthday falling today that is January 8, makers of this film have released first look posters and the gut feeling one gets watching this is, why we missed Tarun from last few years?

Tarun was once considered as cutest lover boy in tinsel town with many producers and directors making queues before his house. The success rate of Tarun was also so envious and where are those glorious times we repeatedly watched ‘Nuvve Kavali, Nuvve Nuvve, Nuvvu Leka Nenu Lenu, Nava Vasantham and Sasirekha Parinayam.’ Even now, there is no other hero in Tollywood who can compete with Tarun’s comic timing and his clarity of expression with pure Telugu pronunciation.

Forgetting the past mistakes, Tarun should give his best shot for ‘Idi Naa Love Story’ which is actually heard as Telugu remake to Kannada hit ‘Simple Agi Ondi Love Story,’ directed by Ramesh Gopi. This is right time for Tarun to give a bang re-entry.

Pawan Kalyan To Host A Talk Show on ETV

The long gaps generally taken by Pawan Kalyan in signing films isn’t welcomed by Fans and movie lovers because everyone loves to see Power Star very often spreading magic on-screen with his magnificent portrayal of socially responsible thoughts and flamboyant energy. However, Pawan definitely has his own strong reasons though he never wanted to take big breaks in between.

If reports are to be believed, Ramoji Rao and Pawan Kalyan when recently met at a function have discussed on production of a new TV program on ETV which exclusively deals with social enlightenment on issues like criminalization in politics, farmer’s issues, domestic violence and female foeticide etc. In fact, such socially relevant issues were earlier dealt by Aamir Khan in Sathyamev Jayathe TV series which initially got huge applause.

After Aamir Khan in National circuit, it can be only Pawan Kalyan’s voice which has a wide reach in South Indian circuit. Apparently, Pawan also needs a platform to showcase his views and this untitled program can become a mouthpiece for Pawanism to spread on large extent. Hope something on this materializes soon.

Cops reduced security for Superstars

Share

amir

After a threat assessment review, the Mumbai Police has reduced the security for Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The decision was taken after it was reviewed that the superstars no longer faced any kind of threat.

The stars were provided with such a high degree security because their comments on ‘India’s growing intolerance’ received negative remarks from the public and other political parties. However after a careful evaluation the cops have decided to slash down the security because they felt that such high-end protection was unwanted.

Meanwhile, according to the review it is stated that the cops will continue to provide security for Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Akshay Kumar, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.

The Bollywood Badshah has been a target since his controversial film, ‘My name is Khan’ and after he was offered an asylum in Pakistan, the cops decided to protect the star. Aamir on the other hand was provided security for the massive public outrage against his film ‘PK’ and his remarks on India’s intolerance.

The reports further indicated that Bollywood’s action hero, Akshay received extortion calls and threats for his films, ‘Khiladi 786’ and ‘Oh My God’. It’s also reported that the Bhatt brothers received major threats from the underworld.

The security for other Bollywood personalities like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Farah Khan and producers Ali and Karim Morani have been totally called off.
