Mumbai: Courage is looking fear right in the eye, and that’s just what Sonam Kapoor does in the first poster of Bollywood film “Neerja” — an upcoming biopic on valiant flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. Sonam shared the poster on Twitter, and wrote: “And here it is: The first poster of #Neerja. So proud! Film out on February 19.”
Sonam’s character is seen being held at gunpoint, but she is seen standing with an undaunted streak, staring at the attacker whose face is yet to be revealed. The debut poster, which reads ‘Fear gave her courage’, also features an airplane cabin full of people and an armed hijacker.
The Ram Madhvani directorial features Sonam as Neerja Bhanot, a Pan Am chief purser who was gunned down by terrorists when Flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. She saved a lot of lives while losing her own. As the proud father of Sonam, veteran actor Anil Kapoor shared: “This poster is a story in itself..#Neerja’s courage & strength immemorialized forever! @sonamakapoor.”
Even actress Shabana Azmi tweeted about the film, saying: “She held bravery in her eyes and courage in her heart! Here is the first poster of #Neerja @foxstarhindi.”
Thrilled with the success of ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana,’ hero Nagarjuna and producer Prasad V Potluri are moving cautiously on the planning of next release ‘Oopiri.’ Directed by Vamsy Paidipally as a complete free-make to ‘The Untouchables,’ this film also casts Tamil hero Karthi and Tamanna in other lead roles. To enjoy a parallel Telugu and Tamil release, makers are eyeing on March 25th as the probable date.
In fact, PVP banner hasn’t tasted a big success off late with ‘Size Zero’ faced a humiliating result. So, ‘Oopiri’ has to hit the right spot at any cost. Above all, Vamsy Paidipally is known as a stylish director with strong technical expertise and has ‘Yevadu, Brindavanam’ to credit. Of course, Nagarjuna is also on golden run with ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana.’
As far as pre release business is concerned, ‘Oopiri’ will have a positive buzz due to the combinational factor in Nag, Karthi, Tamanna and Vamsy Paidipally. Hopefully, the Tollywood ‘King’ will continue his best work for this film also.
Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ is on a rapid pace of its shoot now. The makers are pondering to launch the audio on March 12 so as to ensure the movie released in the first week of April.
It is also heard that Pawan Kalyan is taking all the enough care to ensure the movie’s regular shoot wrapped in a quick pace without wasting the time. On the other hand, all time record pre release business figures are heard across various areas of Telugu states.
Kajal Aggarwal plays the romantic interest of Pawan Kalyan in the movie. Lakshmi Rai will be seen in an interesting role. Billed to be an out and out commercial entertainer, ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’s music is being scored by Devi Sri Prasad. KS Ravindra is directing the movie on North Star Entertainment. Pawan Kalyan Creative Works is the co-production house.
Hyderabad: Sometime back, director Praveen Sattaru announced that he would be making a biopic on the life of celebrated badminton player Pullela Gopichand.
Sudhir Babu was supposed to play the lead role; an apt choice for Sudhir Babu was himself a national player and has played alongside Gopichand. But to date, there has been no further news about the project and Praveen Sattaru is busy with ‘Guntur Talkies’.
Insiders say that the project may have been shelved. If that is the case then it is indeed a sad thing because Tollywood seldom gets to watch movies in that genre. It would also have been a fitting tribute to a badminton champ who made the Telugus proud.
One Telugu film and one hit. The 100 per cent success rate heroine Keerthy Suresh is luring Telugu gossip mongers to come up with top range rumors. Looks like, Keerthy is no more eyeing on heroes like Ram who blessed her super hit ‘Nenu Shailaja’ because she is being paired by rumor mills opposite to Ramcharan in ‘Thani Oruvan’ remake and now to romance Mahesh Babu in his upcoming Murugadoss directorial.
Despite the names of various Bollywood and Kollywood heroines sprang besides Ramcharan, finally we heard of Surender Reddy is talking with Keerthy for allotting bulk call sheets. This one of course needs an official confirmation. In no time, fresh grapevine says about Mahesh Babu has also personally called up AR Murugadoss to lock Keerthy as his heroine without wasting much of time and resources scouting for Bollywood babes.
It’s too greedy for Keerthy, if she is really offered the above two and accepted the both. To be much more practical, either of the above projects can take Keerthy to evolve as a star heroine in Tollywood in parallel proving to be a factor of envy for all other seniors Shruti Hasan, Tamanna, Kajal and Tamanna.
‘Nannaku Prematho’ is less than half a mind game between Jr NTR, Jagapathi Babu and more than half Sukumar’s unwanted intelligence forcibly added into screenplay. Whatever, when audience liked it there’s nothing one can comment on it. However, Mega Fans are a little worried with floating gossips on crucial mind game scenes shot for NPT are lifted or say inspired largely from ‘Thani Oruvan’ which is now being remade by Ramcharan under Surender Reddy direction.
Apparently, the above gossip is also half true and half untrue but from viewers perspective, every scene in every film is either inspired or copied from some or the other world or local cinema. It’s not lifting the cream that matters. What matters is presenting the same in a befitting manner keeping the soul in sync with story or script written hero centrically.
‘Thani Oruvan’ remake is a project lies entirely as a burden on Surender Reddy’s shoulders. Being a technical director who understands the minute detailing in every shot, he shouldn’t be worried much with NPT because the theme and basic story of ‘Thani Oruvan’ is wholly non-identical with NPT.
Among the four new movies released massively on the occasion of Sankranti, thankfully each of them got decent response from all sections of audience catering to their different tastes. Despite four big films in Box Office battle, there was no dearth for competition among buyers who paid fairly risky prices to bag distribution rights in various regions of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and of course Overseas market.
As we are coming close to one week, how far are these buyers safe in recovering their investments? Let us have a glance. ‘Dictator’ from Balakrishna is although doing a safe business in lower class B, C and D centers, reports say there is a long way for distributors to get into safe shores with at least 30 per cent of their investment still under risk. ‘Nannaku Prematho’ is of course roaring in higher order metros, urban centers and Overseas, yet the situation is grim with nearly 20 per cent of the distributors investment still to be recovered in domestic market while in Overseas, profits are guaranteed.
In contrast to insecurity prevailing around above two films, ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ from Nagarjuna and ‘Express Raja’ from Sharwanand is considered as safe bets from business point of view. While Nagarjuna released his movie on commission basis in many areas providing a win-win situation for distributors and exhibitors, ‘Express Raja’ is also guarded with minimal profits for sure. Finally, two are safe and other two are fighting to fall in a safer zone.
