Story :

Soggade Chinni Nayana is the story of a father and son (Nagarjuna in dual role), Bangarraju and Ramu. Bangarraju is killed and later sent back to Earth as Ghost who will be visible only to his wife (Ramya Krishna). On the other side, Ramu has a struggling marital life. REst of the story is all about how Bangarraju saves the marriage life of his son and also avenge those behind his death.

Performances:

Soggade Chinni Nayana is Nagarjuna’s show right from the start to the end. He is seen in two entirely different roles but executed both of them with ease. Ramya Krishna is apt fit to the role and she did very well. The yesteryear actress is doing some interesting roles in her second innings. Lavanya is good as well. There are several supporting artistes – Brahmanandham, Nazar, Sampath, Posani, Anasuya and Sapthagiri are of them are adequate. Anushka is seen in a little cameo and she is good.

Technical Performances:

The debut director Kalyan Krishna got a winner with his first project itself. The first half of the film is enjoyable with Bangarraju evoking good laughter. The second half is slighter on a slower side but ends with a solid climax. Comedy is fine and romance worked out well. The supernatural elements in the film have their own share of flaws but are interesting.

Anoop Rubens’ music is a big plus and rerecording is equally good. The camera work is fine while the editing is decent. The action sequences are over the top at times but are okay. Production Values are appropriate.

Plus Points:

1. 2 Songs.
2. Bangarraju`s Histrionics.
3. Hair Raising Climax.
4. Nagarjuna.
5. Music.

Minus Points:

1. Lag in the second half.

Final Say:

Soggade Chinni Nayana is a perfect festival film which has ingredients which will cater to the needs of all the audience. The movie carries more weight of all the festival release. You can watch with with all your family.

Movie Schedule Clashes With GHMC

The shooting of Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’ is going on in Hyderabad. A holiday has been given for the unit for the Sankranthi festival after which the shooting will resume.

The schedule of the shoot will collide with the GHMC polls and it is unlikely that Pawan Kalyan will campaign for the TDP-BJP combine. Only a direct order from Chandrababu will probably make him do it. Pawan campaigning for the TDP will definitely work out to Naidu’s advantage because it will be the star actor who will take any pot shots at the TRS and KCR.

Any brickbats in return will be directed at Pawan and not the TDP or Naidu. Thus Naidu’s new found bonhomie with KCR will be intact. There will be no section 8 in Hyderabad and the Revanth Reddy case will be put to rest forever.

Brahmi Back In Action

Star comedian Brahmanandam who has been missing in action on the big screen of late will be seen in ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’. A comedy scene featuring Brahmi and Pawan Kalyan was shot in Hyderabad a couple of days ago. Brahmi shoots the cap off Pawan Kalyan’s head.

As Pawan bends down to retrieve it, Brahmi shoots at it again, sending it further away from the power star. This scenario is repeated a third time. After the scene ended, director Bobby rushed to Brahmi and wrapped his arms around Brahmi saying, “You did a wonderful job, Sir!”

The unit was also pleasantly surprised when Trivikram Srinivas and Devi Si Prasad dropped in on the location. They spent some time talking to Pawan and left soon after.

Balayya’s Plans For Mokshagna?

Following the debut of Akhil Akkineni, the next most anticipated one is that of Nandamuri Mokshagna. While everyone expects his entry to be with an out-and-out mass entertainer, insiders say that Balayya may have completely different plans for Mokshagna.

Apparently, Balayya wants Mokshagna to initially star in roles that suit his character rather than straightaway go for mass roles. He believes that Mokshagna needs a strong foundation first after which he can graduate to mass roles and establish himself firmly as a star.

While the details of his launch and the director have not been decided yet, true to expectations, Balayya intends his son’s entry into filmdom to be a lavish affair.

An elementary, Affordable Smartwatch

With numerous advancements in the field of connected devices and Internet of things (IoT), the demand for smart devices is incessantly on the rise. Over the past couple of years, numerous consumer-oriented and smartphone manufacturers are investing in a whole new realm: Smart watches.

Today, smartwatches are gradually gaining immense popularity, especially amongst the younger generation. Several tech giants such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, and even Apple have launched a number of smart watches/wearables in the market. However, there is one slight issue with all these devices: They are quite expensive and most of these watches are priced close to Rs 15,000 or more. Although the features offered are excellent, the devices still remain largely away from the youth’s reach.

Well, not any more, as Indian smartphone manufacturer Wickedleak introduced the Alpha Watch, which is now priced just under Rs 6,000. The watch was launched roughly two months ago at a reasonable price of Rs 6,990 and we had the chance to play around with this watch for a week. So let us find out if this “affordable beauty” can match up to the expectations of Indian smartwatch aficionados.

Design and Display: A smartwatch should preferably have a small body along with a sharp display, and a simple user interface. Contrary to the first requisite, we found the watch a tad over-sized in contrast to the standard 22 mm leather strap, however, it does not take anything away from its unsullied design. The 1.54-inch capacitive touch screen curved display is enclosed inside a beautiful square-shaped stainless steel frame. The 3D curved glass display has a fixed resolution of 240x240pixels and is scratch-proof, so don’t worry about minor nicks and bumps.

Islamic State militants attack Jakarta

Share

Jakarta-gunman_2696615f

Islamic State (IS) said it was behind an attack by suicide bombers and gunmen in the heart of Jakarta on Thursday that brought the radical group’s violence to the world’s most populous Muslim country for the first time. Just seven people were killed despite multiple blasts and a gunfight, and five of them were the attackers themselves, but the brazenness of their siege suggested a new brand of militancy in a country where low-level strikes on police are common. It took security forces about three hours to end the attack near a Starbucks cafe and Sarinah’s, Jakarta’s oldest department store, after a team of seven militants traded gunfire with police and blew themselves up. An Indonesian and a Canadian were killed in the attack. Twenty people, including an Algerian, Austrian, German and Dutchman, were wounded.

“A group of soldiers of the caliphate in Indonesia targeted a gathering from the crusader alliance that fights the Islamic State in Jakarta,” the group said in a statement. It added that 15 people were killed. Mastermind in Raqqa Jakarta’s police chief told reporters: “ISIS is behind this attack definitely,” using a common acronym for Islamic State, and he named an Indonesian militant called Bahrun Naim as the man responsible for plotting it. Police believe Naim is in the Syrian city of Raqqa. The drama played out on the streets and on television screens, with at least six explosions and a gunfight in a movie theatre. But the low death toll pointed to the involvement of local militants whose weapons were rudimentary, experts said.

In a sign of public unease, a bang caused by a tyre bursting triggered a bomb scare that sent police cars rushing back to the scene hours after the attack. “The Starbucks cafe windows are blown out. I see three dead people on the road. There has been a lull in the shooting but someone is on the roof of the building and police are aiming their guns at him,” Reuters photographer Darren Whiteside said as the attack unfolded. Police responded in force within minutes. Black armoured cars screeched to a halt in front of the Starbucks and sniper teams were deployed around the neighbourhood as helicopters buzzed overhead. Jakarta police chief Tito Karnavian said one man entered the Starbucks cafe and blew himself up, wounding several inside.

As people poured out of the cafe, two waiting gunmen opened fire on them. At the same time, two militants attacked a police traffic post nearby, using what he described as hand grenade-like bombs. After the militants had been overcome, a body still lay on the street, a shoe nearby among the debris. Indonesia has seen attacks by Islamist militants before, but a coordinated assault by a team of suicide bombers and gunmen is unprecedented and has echoes of the sieges seen in Mumbai seven years ago and in Paris last November. Australian Attorney-General George Brandis, who was in Jakarta recently to bolster security coordination, told the Australian newspaper he had “no doubt” Islamic State was seeking to establish a “distant caliphate” in Indonesia.

The last major militant attacks in Jakarta were in July 2009, with bombs at the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels. The country had been on edge for weeks over the threat posed by Islamist militants. Counter-terrorism police had rounded up about 20 people with suspected links to IS, whose battle lines in Syria and Iraq have included nationals from several Asian countries. Indonesia has the world’s largest Muslim population, the vast majority of whom practise a moderate form of Islam. The country saw a spate of militant attacks in the 2000s, the deadliest of which was a nightclub bombing on the holiday island of Bali that killed 202 people, most of them tourists.

Timeline of extremist attacks in Indonesia Indonesia is home to Asia’s deadliest attack by Islamic extremists- the 2002 Bali bombings that killed more than 200 people. There have been many attacks since then, though all resulted in substantially less loss of life. They have often targeted Western tourists or businesses, as Thursday’s bombings in Jakarta did. A look at some of Indonesia’s most serious extremist attacks in this century- Sept. 13, 2000- A car bomb explodes inside the garage of the Jakarta Stock Exchange building, killing 10 people and injuring 16. Police blame Acehnese separatists, who deny involvement. Dec. 24, 2000- Bombs explode at 11 churches across the country on Christmas Eve, killing 19 people and injuring around 100. The al—Qaida—linked, Southeast Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiyah is blamed.

Oct. 12, 2002- An Islamic militant sets off a bomb attached to his vest after walking into a busy nightclub on the resort island of Bali. Many of the revelers who fled are killed by a larger car bomb that explodes minutes later outside another nightclub nearby. The attacks killed 202 people, mostly foreign tourists, including 88 Australians and seven Americans. Authorities blame Jemaah Islamiyah. Dec. 5, 2002- Three people are killed and 15 wounded in the bombing of a McDonald’s restaurant in the city of Makassar on Sulawesi island. Aug. 5, 2003- A car bomb in front of the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Jakarta kills 12 people and wounds 150. Fifteen alleged members of Jemaah Islamiyah were convicted for the blast. Dec. 31, 2003- A bomb tears through a crowded New Year’s concert in Indonesia’s Aceh province, killing 10 people, including three children. Authorities blame separatist guerrillas, who denied involvement.

Jan. 10, 2004- Four people are killed by a bomb in a karaoke cafe in Palopo on central Sulawesi island. Sept. 9, 2004- A bomb explodes close to the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. At least three people are killed and about 100 wounded. Oct. 1, 2005- Suicide bombers strike Bali again in near—simultaneous attacks, this time at two seafood cafes in Jimbaran Bay and a third restaurant in the popular tourist district of Kuta. The attacks killed 23 people, including the three bombers. Dec. 31, 2005- A bomb explodes at a market popular with Christians in Palu, on Sulawesi island, killing seven people. July 7, 2009- Suicide bombers walk into the lounges of the Ritz—Carlton and J.W. Marriott hotels in Jakarta and blow themselves up, killing seven people and wounding more than 50. Jan. 14, 2016- Attackers set off bombs at a Starbucks cafe in central Jakarta and engage police in gunbattles. Police say five attackers and two civilians were killed.

‘Severus Snape’ Alan Rickman passes away

Share

alanrickman-servussnape

Rickman’s family said Thursday that the actor had died after a battle with cancer. Born to a working-class London family in 1946 and trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Rickman was often cast as the bad guy; with his rich, languid voice he could invest evil with wicked, irresistible relish.

Film roles included the psychopathic villain Hans Gruber who tormented Bruce Willis in Die Hard in 1988; a deceased lover who consoles his bereaved partner in 1990’s Truly Madly Deeply; the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood- Prince of Thieves in 1991; and a wayward husband in 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually. Millions know him from the Potter films, in which he played the Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Severus Snape, who was either a nemesis or an ally — possibly both — to the titular teenage wizard.

Mohammed Saghir, the present-day Sheriff of Nottingham — now a ceremonial role — in the English Midlands city paid tribute to Rickman’s version of Robin Hood’s famous foe. “His sheriff was a gloriously nasty character who it was easy to love to hate and who he appeared to have great fun playing,” Saghir said. Rickman’s villains were memorable, and included an Emmy-winning turn as “mad monk” Rasputin in a 1996 TV biopic. But Rickman’s screen roles were remarkably varied, and included the upright Col. Brandon in Ang Lee’s 1995 film version of Sense and Sensibility and Irish politician Eamon de Valera in 1996 historical drama Michael Collins.

Rickman was also a filmmaker, directing and co-starring opposite Kate Winslet in 2014 costume drama A Little Chaos. Seventeen years earlier, he’d directed Emma Thompson and her mother Phyllida Law in The Winter Guest. Frequently charming in person, Rickman was, by his own account, uncompromising as an actor. During the filming of Harry Potter, he maintained Snape’s air of haughty disdain even off-camera. “The animal in me takes over,” Rickman told The Associated Press in 2011 when he appeared on Broadway in Theresa Rebeck’s play Seminar.

“You’re as polite as possible, but it’s not always possible.” Rickman is survived by his partner of 50 years, Rima Horton, whom he married in 2012. Funeral details were not immediately available.

Clash Between Pawan’s Fans & TDP Cadres

Back in 2014, Powerstar Pawan Kalyan formed Janasena party and surprised everyone when he openly extended his support to TDP. Pawan’s support did wonders for TDP in the general elections. Since then, Pawan, even though deferred with Chandrababu on a couple of occasions, maintained close ties with him.

But looks like the honeymoon is slowly coming to an end between the fans of Pawan Kalyan and TDP cadres. On Wednesday night, a large group of Pawan Kalyan fans came out on the roads in Attili, West Godavari alleging that TDP activists have torn Pawan Kalyan’s flexi in town.

Nearly 300 Pawan’s fans carried out intense protests against a TDP leader and his supporters, demanding the police to arrest them. The cops calmed down the protestors and assured them a swift action. As per the media reports, caste angle seems to be the primary reason behind the conflict.

Lack Of Funds Saw YSRCP Out Of GHMC Race?

Share

jagan

While all the major political parties in Telangana are gearing up for the upcoming GHMC elections with intense campaigning, the YSRCP boss YS Jagan surprised everyone by pulling his party out of the GHMC contest all of a sudden.

While Jagan’s decision did startle many and disappointed the party’s modest cadre in Telangana, fresh reports reveal that the main reason behind YSRCP’s exit from GHMC polls is nothing but the funds crunch.

With the chances of pulling off surprises by winning a few seats in the elections looking very bleak, the party apparently decided to save its limited financial resources and stayed away from the poll battle. The elections could have been a real major test of the party’s strength to win the trust of numerous Andhra settlers living in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders have lashed out at YS Jagan for withdrawing from the polls and indirectly helping the TRS party. In the past, the party faced a severe funds crunch in Nellore, where the party’s office remained shut for a few days.

Pawan Fans Taken By Surprise

Pawan-Kalyan-Good-Bye-Films

While top directors queue up for the dates of Pawan Kalyan, the power star is apparently more comfortable working with new comers. After doing the multi-starrer, ‘Gopala Gopala’ in the direction of Dolly, he is now doing ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’ in the direction of Bobby.

While fans expected Pawan’s next film to be with a seasoned director, they were taken aback when news filtered in that his next film might be with Tamil director SJ Suryah. The latter directed Pawan in ‘Khushi’ which established Pawan permanently as a super star in Tollywood. But these days, Suryah is busier as an actor than as a director.

Against this backdrop, fans are somewhat puzzled as to the veracity of the news and how this deal may have materialized. What gives credibility to the news is that Pawan’s ex-wife Renu Desai tweeted about a luncheon meeting she had with SJ Suryah. Although separated from Renu Desai, Pawan still has cordial relations with her. Maybe fans are a bit concerned because SJ Suryah’s last film with Pawan was ‘Komaram Puli’ which was a box-office disaster.

According to the original plan, Raju Sundaram was supposed to direct Pawan in a story written by Suryah. Now, Suryah himself will be directing it.

What Did Modi Give, Except Broomsticks?

Stating that Hyderabad people have immense faith in the 18-month- old TRS government, Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to keep his promise of bringing black money and on the spree of foreign tours.

He expressed discontent at Modi for not visiting Hyderabad after NDA government formed at the Centre and not giving any funds for Telangana State. Addressing party workers, KTR said the Prime Minister had done nothing for the people, except giving “broom stick” to everyone to clean their houses and opened bank accounts for poor to save their own money.

He vehemently condemned the Opposition leaders’ pungent comments and sought to know what the BJP-led NDA government did for Hyderabad city. He expressed displeasure at the BJP and the Telugu Desam parties for doing politics for civic polls in the name of religion and region respectively.

“The voters will not prefer the BJP as Union minister Bandadru Dattatreya and party Telangana State president Kishen Reddy were least bothered about developing the City. They must press the Centre to give Rs one lakh crore package to the State as it gave to Gujarat and bring Modi to Hyderabad”, he added.
