Hyderabad: As protests continue in the University of Hyderabad after the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, politicians of all hues are making a beeline for the campus visit to express solidarity with the agitating students. A day after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s visit, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati and Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechuri are set to arrive on Wednesday.

Lok Janshakti Party parliamentary board leader Chirag Paswan and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s brother Ramchandra Paswan will also meet students and Rohith’s family here. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is likely to visit the university on Thursday. Trinamool Congress MPs Derek O’Brien and Pratima Mondal spent two hours on the campus on Tuesday night, interacting with the four Dalit scholars suspended along with Rohith as well as the agitating students.

The parliamentarians will visit the campus again on Wednesday to address the students at the site of their hunger strike. YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who met Rohith’s mother and brother at their house, will also visit the campus. The leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh assembly assured all support to the family. Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also visited the campus on Tuesday and expressed solidarity with the agitating students.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Tammineni Veerabhadram was also present on the campus when Rahul Gandhi addressed the students. Veerabhadram, a Telangana state secretary of the CPI (M), sat along with the students who are on a relay fast to demand the resignation and arrest of central minister Bandaru Dattatreya and vice chancellor Appa Rao.

Mumbai: “Disgusting and sexist” questions posed to Indo-Canadian adult-film star and Bollywood actress Sunny Leone in a TV interview have left Hindi film celebrities enraged. Sunny, who made inroads into Indian showbiz with a past season of reality show “Bigg Boss” and then landed a role in Bollywood with “Jism 2”, is busy these days promoting her new film “Mastizaade” directed by Milap Zaveri. During one such promotional TV interview, CNN IBN anchor Bhupendra Chaubey posed some questions, which Sunny tackled quite sportingly.

Some of the questions asked were: There are lots of married women who look at Sunny Leone as a threat to their husbands, do you not care about all this? You would like to work with Aamir Khan, but would Aamir Khan like to work with you? A member of parliament, in his speeches, has held you responsible for corrupting Indian morality. How do you deal with that? She was even asked: If Sunny Leone is becoming brand ambassador of New India, is that a dangerous trend to have? The anchor didn’t stop there. He also asked Sunny if she is the reason behind the growing porn watchers in India.

“Since you have come to Indian cinema, the number of people watching porn has increased proportionately to the extent that we are now the world’s largest consumer of porn. Can you respond to that,” he asked. However, Sunny answered the queries with wit and poise, thereby garnering applause from known names of the film fraternity. Mumbai: Actor-producer John Abraham, who is likely to take action in Bollywood to an altogether new level with “Rocky Handsome”, plans to remake the film in Tamil and Telugu. John told IANS: “We would like to remake this film in the south. We have got superstars who are interested in doing this film in the south. Someone from Hyderabad saw this film and two-three actors in Tamil and Telugu filmdom are very interested in remaking this film because it’s a very commercial project. So, we are very excited about it.”

The actor didn’t wish to reveal the names of the southern stars who are interested in remaking “Rocky Handsome”, but said: “The only fear is how we cope with this action because this action is too high-intensity.” Directed by Nishikant Kamat, the Hindi film features John and Shruti Hassan, who last featured together in “Welcome Back”. While the action in “Rocky Handsome” looks extremely diverse, John said he trained for martial arts Tai chi and Aikido in Thailand.

“I trained myself for Tai chi and Aikido… I trained in those art forms for a month for 14 hours a day in Thailand with a master. We trained hard. I wanted to learn the art forms… I am playing with knives, and it’s very difficult,” the 43-year-old said. Talking about the film’s USP, John said: “The USP of the film is the action that’s backed by the emotions or the emotions that are backed by the action. With ‘Rocky Handsome’, I just felt that any amount of good action is worthless without the right and requisite emotion.

“When we look at Hollywood films, we always talk about the James Bond kind of films and we say, ‘Why can’t we do the same?’ I guess ‘Rocky Handome’ is the answer to Hollywood, where you can say, ‘Here’s the action and here’s the action hero that could match up to all of you’,” he added.

Age and marriage are not worrisome factors for male actors. But, when it comes to female actors, their career span is less. Heroines will be in demand when they are young and aren’t married. Bollywood spectator may not consider age and marital status, however south audience and filmmakers will consider it.

Very few people are aware of the fact that, homely actress Radhika Apte is married. The dusky starlet informs that, filmmakers and actors insisted to hide her marital status. “My husband lives in London, and I spend half my time there. I’ve never hidden the fact that I am married. But it does matter to certain directors and actors. And I have been given suggestions to avoid telling people that I am married.”

Radhika was seen in several films, but she grabbed nationwide recognition with her bold performance in the short film Ahalya. Later, she turned everyone emotional as the pregnant independent woman in the Myntra ad. Surprisingly, Radhika says that, she has no problems in doing item songs, but these numbers should not mean for skin shows.

Radhika tied knot with British musician Benedict Taylor in 2013. Radhika met Benedict in 2011 in London during her year-long sabbatical when she had gone to learn contemporary dance. The two were in live-in relationship for a long time, before a registered marriage took place in March 2013.

Mumbai: Courage is looking fear right in the eye, and that’s just what Sonam Kapoor does in the first poster of Bollywood film “Neerja” — an upcoming biopic on valiant flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. Sonam shared the poster on Twitter, and wrote: “And here it is: The first poster of #Neerja. So proud! Film out on February 19.”

Sonam’s character is seen being held at gunpoint, but she is seen standing with an undaunted streak, staring at the attacker whose face is yet to be revealed. The debut poster, which reads ‘Fear gave her courage’, also features an airplane cabin full of people and an armed hijacker.

The Ram Madhvani directorial features Sonam as Neerja Bhanot, a Pan Am chief purser who was gunned down by terrorists when Flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. She saved a lot of lives while losing her own. As the proud father of Sonam, veteran actor Anil Kapoor shared: “This poster is a story in itself..#Neerja’s courage & strength immemorialized forever! @sonamakapoor.”

Even actress Shabana Azmi tweeted about the film, saying: “She held bravery in her eyes and courage in her heart! Here is the first poster of #Neerja @foxstarhindi.”

Thrilled with the success of ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana,’ hero Nagarjuna and producer Prasad V Potluri are moving cautiously on the planning of next release ‘Oopiri.’ Directed by Vamsy Paidipally as a complete free-make to ‘The Untouchables,’ this film also casts Tamil hero Karthi and Tamanna in other lead roles. To enjoy a parallel Telugu and Tamil release, makers are eyeing on March 25th as the probable date.

In fact, PVP banner hasn’t tasted a big success off late with ‘Size Zero’ faced a humiliating result. So, ‘Oopiri’ has to hit the right spot at any cost. Above all, Vamsy Paidipally is known as a stylish director with strong technical expertise and has ‘Yevadu, Brindavanam’ to credit. Of course, Nagarjuna is also on golden run with ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana.’

As far as pre release business is concerned, ‘Oopiri’ will have a positive buzz due to the combinational factor in Nag, Karthi, Tamanna and Vamsy Paidipally. Hopefully, the Tollywood ‘King’ will continue his best work for this film also.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ is on a rapid pace of its shoot now. The makers are pondering to launch the audio on March 12 so as to ensure the movie released in the first week of April.

It is also heard that Pawan Kalyan is taking all the enough care to ensure the movie’s regular shoot wrapped in a quick pace without wasting the time. On the other hand, all time record pre release business figures are heard across various areas of Telugu states.

Kajal Aggarwal plays the romantic interest of Pawan Kalyan in the movie. Lakshmi Rai will be seen in an interesting role. Billed to be an out and out commercial entertainer, ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’s music is being scored by Devi Sri Prasad. KS Ravindra is directing the movie on North Star Entertainment.
