Rahman vs Zimmer Buzz Around Ramayana Music

When it comes to Indian film music reaching global heights, the name A. R. Rahman instantly evokes a sense of magic. An Oscar-winning composer known for constant innovation, Rahman has captivated audiences worldwide with his unique sound. However, his work is now at the center of an intense social media debate.

The discussion revolves around the much-awaited pan-India project Ramayana, where two global music giants—Rahman and Hans Zimmer—have collaborated. Naturally, expectations are sky-high given the scale of this combination.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film recently unveiled a glimpse video that received a strong response, especially for its background score. However, many felt that Zimmer’s style dominated the music. According to ongoing buzz, the makers are now re-evaluating Rahman’s compositions. Reports suggest that, based on the teaser response, more prominence may be given to Zimmer’s score, with only select portions of Rahman’s work making it to the final version. That said, there is no official confirmation yet.

This speculation has sparked a wider debate. Some music lovers argue that sidelining a legend like Rahman would be unfair and that his full potential should be utilized. Others believe that for a film of this scale, the makers are justified in making decisions that ensure the best possible output.

Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film features a star-studded cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana. Planned as a two-part epic, the first installment is set to release during Diwali 2026.

While the truth behind the reports about Rahman’s music remains unclear, the ongoing buzz has only heightened anticipation for this ambitious cinematic venture.
