Is it a good sentiment on the part of producers to release new movies on New Year eve expecting a change in audience sentiments? Or is it a simple, wise move to test their lucks before big films begin their rampage in Pongal race?

Whatever, the reason may be but we are getting flooded with at least half a dozen films on Jan1st and this mad rush has no proper logical explanation for sure.

In the list we have mainly, Ram and Keerthy Suresh starring ‘Nenu… Shailaja,’ Naga Shaurya and Palak Lalwani in Ramesh Varma directorial ‘Abbayitho Ammayi,’ RGV new flick ‘Killing Veerappan,’ Arjun and Kishore’s ‘Veerappan,’ suspense thriller ‘Chithram Bhalare Vichithram,’ and ‘Neti Vijethalu.’

According to market discussions, along with the above mentioned half a dozen films, few more like one or two should get as new addition into the list. So, its film and fun time for Telugu cinema lovers to give a reasonable start for New Year. Let us wish all the best for all these newcomers.

Young and charming Naga Shaurya should not become a one movie wonder. There was plenty of buzz on Shaurya’s attitude problems created new troubles to career in last few months and he learnt a good dose of lessons to set his career back on track with ‘Abbayitho Ammayi, Kalyana Vaibhogame’ and ‘Jo Achithananda.’ Among all three, first to release is Ramesh Varma directed ‘Abbayitho Ammayi.’

Briefing the highlights in this flick, ‘to speak plainly this film hasn’t got any lip locks because I am against this lip kiss scenes. Once when I kissed my heroine in ‘Jaadoo Gaadu,’ the film turned out a big time failure. In fact, it was also a mass action movie.

So, I decided to serve the audience what they expect from me. People love to see me more in family entertainers and soothing romantic concepts. So, I am presently going with only these two genres. I am completely against mass action stories and lip locks,’ Shaurya said.

‘Abbayitho Ammayi’ starring Palak Lalwani as heroine besides Shaurya is also impressing audience with her first and fresh looks. Let us see, how their chemistry works from Jan 1.

After releasing in a grand way amidst heavy expectations, Akhil, the debut film of young Akkineni hero Akhil, bit the dust immediately. Made with a huge budget of 40 plus crore, Akhil failed to recover even 20 crore from its theatrical release. The film’s buyers suffered a huge loss failed to recover nearly 70% of their investments.

There have been numerous complaints about the film’s failure. While everyone including the critics and fans pointed their fingers at the film’s ridiculous script, the film’s heroine, Sayesha Saigal, has finally revealed her opinions about Akhil’s failure.

Speaking to a leading media house, Sayesha stated, “I think there should have been a few more emotional and meaningful sequences between the couple. The couple looked beautiful but they hardly had any romantic sequences. The boy doesn’t even say ‘I love you’ to the girl.”

Sayesha too had a complaint about the film’s lackluster story and said, “the content needed to be a little more meaningful I suppose.” The petite beauty has already kept Akhil’s failure aside and moved on to her Bollywood debut, Shivaay, opposite Ajay Devgan.

The Telangana CM KCR’s ambitious Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam has been a huge success. Lakhs of people participated in this mega religious event, which is being organized by the Telangana state government for the well being of the state and its people.

However, a major fire accident which took place in the yagasala on the last  day of Chandi Yagam has marred the Yagam’s success to an extent. This afternoon while the sages were performing the prayers, huge fire erupted from the homagundam and engulfed the hay cottages.

Shocked by this unexpected mishap, priests, devotees and officials rushed to escape from the spot, leading to a minor stampede kind of situation. However, alerted security officials quickly removed the barricades and sent the devotees and VIPs to a safe zone. 3 fire engines doused the fire, bringing the whole chaos to normalcy within minutes.

President Pranab Escapes Safely:

On the final day of Chandi Yagam, President of India Pranab Mukherjee, who is on his winter sojourn in Hyderabad, reached Erravalli on a helicopter in the afternoon right when then fire broke out. However, noticing the whole chaos, the President flew back without landing, upon his security officials’ suggestion.

KCR Orders High Level Enquiry:

As per the latest updates, Telangana CM KCR has ordered for a high level enquiry into the fire mishap. After a brief halt, e Maha Poornahuti will be carried out in the evening in which the state’s Governor Narasimhan will take part along with his family.

Puri Jagannath Getting Close to Mahesh Babu

Share

Mahesh Babu, Puri Jagannath

The hot and spicy gossips from Puri Jagannath office about intervention of Charmi into production activities of Puri’s new movies and also showing extra interest in his personal life led to sever tumults. In parallel, the disastrous result in ‘Jyothi Lakshmi’ and below average Box Office verdict for ‘Loafer’ degraded Puri from a top star director to second rung capabilities.

All this appears to have affected Puri in many ways. Resultantly, there are strong news in film circles about Puri issued a direct warning to Charmi to get out from his life and office. This means Puri Jagannath is back to his best family man image spending quality time with wife Lavanya and two kids.

At the same time, Ram Gopal Varma is also learnt to have lent an advice to Puri to correct the office and home atmosphere first before beginning to concentrate on Mahesh Babu new movie script. After the wrap up of ‘Rogue,’ we are all set to see a new Puri with much more determination and heightened will power to re-create ‘Pokiri’ like films in 2016. Of course, Mahesh also likes more of family loving directors for sure.

Raviteja Interested in Crime Comedy and Crime Action!

Ravi_Teja-Power

Raviteja is a proven star hero with good Fan following. However, he is in a strategically different leveling platform where he is unable to select the path of travel. Whether to go with full fledged commercial, mass masala storylines with star directors or try something different for a new image? The recent success of ‘Bengal Tiger’ re-captured a big share of lost market stamina in Mass Raja which is of course good.

At the same time, Raviteja has kept on hold ‘Yevado Okkadu’ from Dil Raju production house just because of inept second half. In parallel, Raviteja also showed excitement to work with crime comedy expert Sudheer Varma (Swamy Rara fame) and also called up debutant Sriram Adittya of ‘Bhale Manchi Roju’ fame congratulating on first film success.

This led to severe speculations in market that Ravi is all willing to do a crime comedy or crime based action film with either of these directors. Sudheer Varma already narrated a story and Sriram revealed in his last interview about having four stories ready on hand. We need to wait and see, whom Ravi picks from these two.

A true leader is one who always thinks of public safety and problems. Proving to be a true leader, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stopped a man committing suicide on Christmas Day.

A young man named Vezir Cakras, dressed in jeans and a simple hoody, was thought to be preparing to jump when Recep Erdogan’s convoy was passing over the 211ft-tall structure (Istanbul’s Bosporos Bridge), which links Europe with Asia, after Friday prayers.

The man who appeared to be in his early 30’s had climbed over the railing and was menacing to kill himself, when Erdogan’s bodyguards requested him stop doing so and then told him that the President wanted to speak to him. It took almost two hours for them to talk the man out of committing suicide.

The staff took Vezir Cakras to President’s car. The young man had a little conversation with Erdogan through the window of his car, before kissing hand. He was said to have abandoned his car on the bridge and climbed over the side railing due to long-standing depression. The president promised Carkas to provide appropriate help.

The Telangana CM KCR’s ambitious Chandi Yagam has entered into its last day. Already, lakhs of people attended this grand religious event, which is being organized by the state government for the well being of the state. KCR flew down to Amaravati and personally invited Chandrababu to the event.

Today, Chandrababu will participate in the Chandi Yagam and will offer traditional pattu vasthralu, bangles, kumkuma, prasadam after performing prayers at the Durgamma temple.

Now, what is striking about Babu attending the Yagam on the last day is that all the invites will be wearing yellow today, including the Ruthviks and sages. On the first day, everyone wore yellow, followed by pink, white, red and finally yellow and finally yellow on the last day.

Call it coincidence but Babu will be smiling all the way to see his party color splashing all-around in a historical event being organized by the pink brigade (TRS).

Even more amusing sight will be Babu, all dressed in yellow, will be performing the special puja along with KCR, who will also be dressed in yellow, the color which gave him a ride in politics until more than a decade ago.

As we reported earlier, Young Tiger NTR is working day and night for Nannaku Prematho despite high fever as to wrap up the film soon to release it on scheduled date of January 13th. Meanwhile, the actor has achieved a rare feat. NTR’s Facebook page has crossed 2 million likes. Although NTR is not delivering right hits off late, fans are with him always and are hoping Nannaku Prematho to provide him the much needed break.

The number of likes indeed exhibits NTR fans base. But, one thing that worried NTR and Nannaku Prematho production unit is fans incessantly asked for audio launch passes on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Now, after getting known about NTR unhealthy conditions, fans have stopped requesting the actor for passes. The last message NTR posted on his Facebook handle was to request his fans to donate for Chennai floods relief.

“#PrayforChennai it’s time to be humans by helping each other when nature tests our integrity. I request everyone to help the needed in the best ways possible.am gonna do mine,” reads his last post.

Except for a song, currently being shot in Hyderabad, entire production work of Nannaku Prematho is done. Post production works are also in last leg. First copy of the movie is expected on January 8th and efforts are being made to release the movie for Pongal. Hope, it happens!

Amazing new tech

Share

Tech_SC_copy

It has been a year of bold moves. The planet’s biggest technology firm launched a tiny watch. Manufacturers of electronic gaming consoles are convinced virtual reality headsets are the way forward and a search engine giant has unveiled a motor car that doesn’t need a human behind the wheel. The world’s going wearable, wireless, wondrous — all at warp speed. A certain bearded Briton once suggested that we inhabitants are products of evolution. Species have adapted, changed, adjusted — devices followed a digital Darwinism too.

Machines grew smaller to fit pockets, got faster to suit schedules and more robust to match situations. Hell, your phone’s now water-proof and just in time because, boffins have figured a way to charge phones using urine. We have come far and year 2016, as far as tech is concerned, we’ll be diving into known unknowns. Efficient wearables Year 2015 saw Apple placing big bets on its Watch. The others are catching up. So, expect more efficient, cheaper watches — with better battery life, screens and hopefully, a more attractive price tag. The market for wearables has become so intense Intel’s even unveiling a reality show starring entrepreneurs vying for the $1million grand prize!

Sport apparel manufacturers such as Adidas are pouring millions just on the wrist to show cardiac capacity, performance limits etc. “Consumers don’t care what type of sensors is embedded in their wearables, but what they can learn from those sensors,” says Stacey Burr VP of wearable sports electronics at Adidas. Bear in mind, companies hope to strike gold from a market that’s expected to hit $31.27 billion by 2020 — and is all from that immediate space between your hand and the elbow. Fantastic! Virtual reality Sometime early 2016, the Oculus Rift will launch after having spent over five years and a few millions in development. So ambitious is its scope that it could well be electronic gaming’s Moon landing. The Rift will allow gamers to be ‘inside’ the game and rumours claim the landmark device will be available this year for just about $500.

But VR is not limited to unkempt gamers. Stanford University employs a surgery simulator which includes haptic feedback for those in training — one wrong move and it’s just a vibration instead of instant death. VR is also helping rehabilitate patients with cognitive damage. Thing is, the Rift’s development DNA is free for developers. Once the machine hits the mainstream, we are only limited by our imagination. Better batteries We spoke of urine being used to charge phones. Thankfully, science will not bring us to a point where we’ll need to unzip pants to continue a conversation. In 2016, expect “long-lasting” performance, “stiffer” power reserves and slower drain. Before we sound like a condom ad, consider these breakthroughs. Next year will see the release of the Alfa battery — with 40 times the capacity of lithium-ion and powered by water. Creators Fuji Pigment say a charge will last 14 days and all it needs is water. Experts are also fine-tuning traditional sources of electricity. For example, scientists have figured out a way to harness power from skin friction.

Quantum dot displays HD is long dead. The future will be all about packing as many colours as we can into a single inch of display. Quantum Dots produce a wider range of colours when hit with a special blue LED backlight. They output much more than usual LCDs. There’s already a laptop on sale that has this tech and it costs just under Rs 2 lakh. But early adopters are pricey and with a competition thrown in, we should see prices drop. And quantum dots are so flexible scientists believe these little drops of nano magic can be used in light bulbs to the imaging of cancer cells or even in the design of solar cells. The best part? Quantum dots can generate the same amount of light as LCDs using 30 per cent less power! What to watch out for in 2016 Oceans will power our homes: Blue Energy Canada says it’s close to “commercialising” turbine technologies that’ll capture energy from ocean currents and has started paperwork in countries such as India, Indonesia, and New Zealand.

The Omniprocessor: Drinking water from faeces? Backed by Bill Gates, the tech could solve our planet-sized problem of waste disposal. The machine will handle waste “from 1,00,000 people, producing up to 86,000 litres of potable water a day.” Wait for the sunscreen pill: It’s the ultimate in healthcare. The pill will take care of the eyes and the skin. The tech is based on how coral shields itself against UV rays. Scientists are closer to producing a synthetic compound which can mimic this ability. Mammoths reborn: Yup, we’ll be doing a real-life Jurassic Park. Japan’s Riken Center for Developmental Biology are of the belief that they can actually bring back the animal by using ancient DNA.

Red flags over Turkey-China weapons deal

Share

TH27-TURKEY-MISSIL_2672209f

As tensions in West Asia and Ukraine rose in recent years, Turkey moved to jointly manufacture a sophisticated missile defence system. The $3.4 billion plan would have given Turkey’s military more firepower and laid the foundation to start exporting missiles. But Turkey abruptly abandoned the plan just weeks ago in the face of strong opposition from its allies in NATO. Concerns in NATO Their main objection: Turkey’s partner, a state-backed Chinese company. Western countries feared a loss of military secrets if Chinese technology were incorporated into Turkey’s air defences.

As one of its highest economic and foreign policy goals, China has laid out an extensive vision for close relations with Turkey and dozens of countries that were loosely connected along the Silk Road more than 1,000 years ago by land and seaborne trade. But Beijing’s effort to revive ancient trade routes, a plan known as the Belt and Road Initiative, is causing geopolitical strains, with countries increasingly worried about becoming too dependent on China.

With the missile deal, Turkey was turning toward China partly to reduce its reliance on NATO. “Our national interest and NATO’s may not be the same for some actions,” said Ismail Demir, Turkey’s undersecretary for national defence. But the deal immediately raised red flags in the West. Besides the technology issues, the Chinese supplier, the China Precision Machinery Import Export Corp., was the target of Western sanctions for providing ballistic missile technology to Iran, North Korea, Pakistan and Syria. So Turkish exports based on a partnership with China Precision could have also been subject to sanctions.

Complicating matters, China and Russia are close allies on many issues. Russia is especially distrusted in Turkey because of its military intervention in Syria and its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine. And Turkey had been a close U.S. ally ever since it sent a large contingent of troops to fight North Korea and China during the Korean War. Ethnic issues have further complicated China’s relations. Many countries in the region are Muslim, and versions of Turkish are spoken in more than a dozen countries, partly a legacy of the Ottoman Empire. That history has fanned regional tensions over Beijing’s stringent policies toward the Uighurs, Muslims in China’s Xinjiang region who speak a Turkic language. Beijing has blamed Uighurs for a series of attacks on Han Chinese from eastern China.

When China suppressed Uighur protests in 2009, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister at the time, condemned the actions as “a kind of genocide.” Last July, Turks and Uighurs held two rounds of protests in Istanbul and Ankara. Technology sharing Now the President of Turkey, Mr. Erdogan is prioritising ties with China. He calmed the anti-Chinese protests last summer by urging his countrymen to be wary of rumours on social media about China’s treatment of the Uighurs. Turkish military analysts compared a long list of variables, like missile range and the willingness to share technology and manufacturing. The analysis was approved by a committee including the Defence Minister, generals and Mr. Erdogan, Mr. Demir said.

Within days of the announcement about China’s leading bid, NATO member countries organised a campaign to overturn the decision. President Barack Obama, Western European heads of state and top NATO commanders contacted Turkish leaders. NATO officials have been cautious, saying any country has a right to choose its own equipment. But they have publicly expressed concern that Chinese missiles might not be compatible with NATO equipment — and privately that they were loath to share technical details to make compatibility possible.

Sushmita Sen may have entered the 40 age group, but she still looks drop-dead gorgeous. The actress posted a snapshot of hers on Twitter on Christmas eve.

Sush has done a scorching new photoshoot. Is the former beauty queen looking at a fresh innings in Bollywood? I really hope so, since I often wonder why there are no takers for her in Bollywood.

Been ages since she did a film.

It’s a dream come true for media mogul Ramoji Rao, as Telangana government has decided to assign 505 acres for his dream project- Om City which is estimated to cost around Rs 3,000 crore. The Ranga Reddy district administration has already sent proposals to the revenue department for final approval to allot the land spread over Abdullapur, Koheda and Surmaiguda villages in Hayatnagar mandal.

The government will fix value for the land being allotted when approving the proposal. Om City has been planned as a spiritual city in about 2,000 acres land near Ramoji Film City in Hayatnagar mandal that will include replicas of 108 famous temples of the country, a theme park, film theatres that screen only spiritual movies, hotels and functions halls.
