Tollywood’s Comedy King Brahmanandam and star writer Kona Venkat gave several hits in their combination. Kona’s pen wielded hilarious roles for Brahmanandam in films like Ready, Dhee, Adhurs and Dookudu etc. However, the star duo’s recent acts in Shivam, Bruce Lee and Akhil utterly failed to tickle the funny bones of the audiences.

Both Kona and Brahmi were in for severe criticism for their stale ‘bakara’ comedy and this in turn made Brahmi to state that he is just doing what his writers and directors are asking him to. Insiders in Tollywood are even discussing that Brahmi no longer trusts Kona’s pen and distanced himself from the writer.

On the other hand, Kona claimed that he will come out of the bakara template with his latest production Shankarabharanam. To make his comedy look ‘fresh’, Kona even ditched Brahmi and went ahead with upcoming comedians like Prudhvi, Sapthagiri etc.

However, even Shankarabharanam was panned by critics and audiences for the same bakara template with a few changes. While Kona failed to keep his word, many are now wondering that Kona’s ditching of Brahmi did not yield him any positive results. Will Shankarabharanam’s result reunite the Kona-Brahmi combo?

Telangana’s IT Minister KT Rama Rao is looking things from a wider perspective. As he’s constantly in touch with some big films stars like Ram Charan and attending their private parties too, media has been eyeing to question him about this from a long time. Also he attended the private launching ceremony of TruJet of Charan, wondering everyone what’s this bonding all about.

“My aim is to see Tollywood don’t chalk any plans to go to Vizag. I want to make them very comfortable here. That’s the government’s motto not just mine”, said IT Minister “Telugu Industry’s turnover might be 1000 crores only and revenue wise it isn’t a big contributor for the state. But it’s an industry giving employment to 30,000 people and has huge visibility.

If at all tomorrow Tollywood biggies take decision to shift to Vizag completely defacto most Superstars hail from Coastal Andhra, that will be a huge dent to Telangana state”, explained KTR further.

He reasoned that his meeting with various youngsters, not just Charan, is to hold back Telugu Film Industry in Hyderabad. “Not just me, any person in Telugu states or India in that case, would be obsessed with movies. So, movie industry is vital for Telangana state”, KTR concludes. Speaking in a special interview of a top news channel, KTR shared this stuff.

Showing solidarity to the victims of Chennai floods, Superstar Rajinikanth has decided to drop grand gala celebrations of his 65th birthday which happens to be on Dec 12, 2015. This is not all. Rajini has openly requested his fans to not to celebrate his birthday and instead asked them to help the rescue operations in the rain-battered city. Rajini urged his fans to support the needy.

Rajini has already extended his support to the rain-affected victims by donating Rs 10 Lakh to the TN CM’s Relief Fund. Though this is not so big amount, Rajini’s call to his fans itself is considered as his biggest donation as he has huge fan base who are ready to do anything for him.

It may be recalled that incessant rainfall in Chennai has cut off more than three million people from basic services and disrupted power supplies, with the authorities under fire for slow relief and rescue operations.

CLIMATECHANGE-SUMM_2647340g

India stands to gain from massive renewable energy investments and achieve energy efficiency in key sectors under a Climate Agreement, a global coalition of business organisations working on low carbon economic growth has said. The top industries and services that could reap the benefits are energy companies, financial services attracting investment from around the world, and the IT sector that would find new opportunities in big data analytics, measuring and monitoring systems to meet national climate obligations. Besides direct benefits, the economy could save enormous costs in the future, both in terms of higher efficiency and avoided losses due to more severe catastrophic climate events, Edward Cameron, policy lead, We Mean Business, a coalition of corporations whose members include Google, Microsoft, General Electric and Sun Edison told The Hindu. The We Mean Business group consists of seven business-facing networks working to promote business action on climate, and to develop a policy enabling environment for a clean economy. It works with investors who collectively are worth almost $20 trillion in assets under management. Global business has welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on boosting growth of solar and other renewables by 2022, and cutting the energy intensity of growth. The coalition is “very sympathetic to the Indian position [on emissions reduction], because you must reduce emissions as a global community, otherwise we will breach temperature thresholds that threaten natural resources, threaten food security, undermine development and human rights”.

The Indian position, that in order to be effective on climate you need to reduce the cost of capital, so that low carbon investments become possible is understandable, the coalition says. The price point of energy for consumers who have limited disposal income must be low. The availability of technologies should also be increased so that India can meet its commitments to deploy more and more energy. Simultaneously, there is a need to tackle issues of governance, of relations between industrialised economies and the least developed countries, and domestic governance. Businesses are looking to the forthcoming U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change agreement to provide policy certainty, “as the type of investments we need are not six month or five year investments, they stretch across multiple decades. The important market signal that is sought is the long term goal towards decarbonisation before the end of the century”. Without the agreement, the physical, operational and financial risks to all businesses all over the world will be huge. Verizon in the U.S. lost a billion dollars because of superstorm Sandy, because salt water intruded into its communication infrastructure. At the Paris conference, the WMB coalition has made specific policy asks. “We have indicated to governments not only the type of agreement we would like to see, but also where the text should be placed in the context of the new agreement,” says Mr. Cameron.

Market signals: If the private sector is viewed as an important player, the Paris Agreement itself would be the most important market signal. The only way businesses would make those investments is if “they are certain that governments around the world will honour those commitments made in Paris”. So the very important market signal is the long term goal towards decarbonisation before the end of the century. It was positive that 184 governments including India have come forward with their domestic climate action plans. Before the national action plans came forward the world was on course for a 4.8°C rise by the end of the century, which would be uninhabitable, and crises such as water scarcity, agriculture distress in staples like rice, and wheat corn becoming impossible to grow would have followed. As a consequent of the voluntary climate action pledges, “we are on course for a 2.7°C rise. That still is not good enough”. But the space between 4.8°C and 2.7°C creates a whole new global economy, that moves trillions of dollars in the direction of renewable energy. China alone is committing to a rise in renewable energy in the next decade that is the equivalent of all the electricity produced in the U.S. today, involving trillions of dollars in public and private investments. Paris also needs to see climate finance commitments, with industrialised countries honouring the $100 billion a year pledges that they made in Copenhagen in 2009.

Sardaar Girls And Negative Sentiment?

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh is currently having its shoot in Gujarat. Already, the film completed a major portion of its shooting in India, where the sexy Kannada beauty Raai Lakshmi sizzled alongside Pawan in an out and out mass item number. And in the Gujarat schedule, yet another Sandalwood svelte beauty Sanjjanaa Galrani has been shooting for her role.

While Raai Lakshmi is pinning high hopes on striking big with the item number, Sanjjanaa too will be making her Telugu comeback in a grand way with Sardaar. But, Pawan’s Kannada sentiment is posing as a threat for both these Bengaluru beauties.

In the past, Pawan gave a chance to two more Kannada beauties, Kriti Kharbandha and Pranitha Subhash. While Kriti, after Teenmaar, was hardly seen in Tollywood circuit, Pranitha who got a plum role beside Pawan in Athaintiki Dharedhi couldn’t manage to cash in on the opportunity as she was not seen in a star hero film again until Mahesh Babu’s upcoming Brahmotsavam, where she will play one of the three female leads.

This gets us back to Raai Lakshmi and Sanjjanaa and wonder if these beauties will utilize the rare opportunity Pawan gave them and in turn end Pawan’s not so pleasant sentiment with Kannada beauties.

Storing electricity in paper

Researchers at Linköping University’s Laboratory of Organic Electronics, Sweden, have developed power paper — a new material with an outstanding ability to store energy. The material consists of nanocellulose and a conductive polymer. The results have been published in Advanced Science. One sheet, 15 cm in diameter and a few tenths of a millimetre thick can store as much as 1 F, which is similar to the supercapacitors currently on the market. The material can be recharged hundreds of times and each charge only takes a few seconds. It’s a dream product in a world, where the increased use of renewable energy requires new methods for energy storage — from summer to winter, from a windy day to a calm one, from a sunny day to one with heavy cloud cover.

“Thin films that function as capacitors have existed for some time. What we have done is to produce the material in three dimensions. We can produce thick sheets,” says Xavier Crispin, Professor of organic electronics and co-author to the article just published in Advanced Science. The material, power paper, looks and feels like a slightly plasticky paper and the researchers have amused themselves by using one piece to make an origami swan — which gives an indication of its strength. The structural foundation of the material is nanocellulose, which is cellulose fibres which, uses high-pressure water, are broken down into fibres as thin as 20 nm in diameter. With the cellulose fibres in a solution of water, an electrically charged polymer, also in a water solution, is added. The polymer then forms a thin coating around the fibres.

Manchu Manoj Rubbishes Rumours

Manchu-Manoj-Mr-Nokia-_13_-320x213

Manchu Manoj was quick to deny the rumours that he’d be part of Ram Charan’s next (Telugu remake of Tamil Superhit Thani Oruvan). Quashing them as ‘wrong news’, Manoj made it clear that he is not going to don villain’s hat for Ram Charan. Given that Mohan Babu acted as baddie alongside Chiru, many thought that Manoj and Charan would repeat the feat.

But unfortunately, it’s not happening. Several names have been doing the rounds for the baddie’s role in the Telugu remake of Thani Oruvan. Big names like Madhavan, Sudeep, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Rana Daggubati etc propped up but nothing finalised concretely.

Though reports had it that the makers are keen on roping in Arvind Swamy who played the original role and stole the show, makers are apparently worried over Arvind’s high pay. Latest buzz is that, the filmmakers are looking for other options.

Surender Reddy will be directing the Telugu version while NV Prasad is going to produce the film and Allu Aravind to oversee the production. Shruti Haasan is likely to essay Charan’s love interest. Thani Oruvan is about the face-off between a righteous policeman and a rich, cunning industrialist.

The Actress Who Slapped Chiru 24 Times

Senior actress Radhika Sarathkumar made her Tollywood debut with the Megastar Chiranjeevi starrer Nyayam Kavali in 1981. Radhika was just about 18 years old by that time and she was completely clueless with the language, people and the whole Tollywood setup. In her latest interview to a Telugu news channel, Radhika revealed a few interesting incidents from her debut film experience.

Radhika said that in one scene she was supposed to slap Chiranjeevi hard and that she couldn’t get the shot right as she struggled to utter her dialogues properly and the director wasn’t happy. This made Radhika to take 24 takes and in all the 24 takes Radhika slapped Chiru.

After the shot was okayed, Radhika profusely apologized to Chiru for slapping him so hard. A thorough professional, Chiru, whose cheeks were all red by then, jokingly ‘thanked’ Radhika for at least getting the shot right after 24 takes.

Hero Sudheer Babu’s debut film ‘Siva Manasulo Shruthi’ could not perform well at the ticket windows. However, his second film ‘Premakathachitram’ was a huge hit then. Then again, Sudheer Babu had to get four flops in a row which in turn leads to bad phase of his career as a hero. Sudheer Babu’s upcoming film ‘Bhale Manchi Roju’, however, appears to be promising.

Having compared with the teasers and trailers of movies which are slated for release in near future, ‘Bhale Manchi Roju’s trailer appears to have shown a much needed difference. But then, will this difference spin the money at the box office? As of now, the production team appears to be confident and are releasing the movie on December 25. Meanwhile, this crime comedy was directed by Sriram Aditya.
