His latest film Killing Veerappan is all set to release on December 11, just a day after Ravi Teja’s Bengal Tiger strikes the screens. Ram Gopal Varma’s Anukshanam was released exactly a day after Ravi Teja’s Power was released and we have seen the fate of Anukshanam that couldn’t stand against Mass Maharaja’s Power.

He is once again messing with a Ravi Teja’s film that is surely going to dominate the box office during next weekend. RGV’s recent track record is pretty bad that ticket paying public is not showing any interest in his movies. Killing Veerappan promos were promising and the subject has the potential to pull curious crowds. All that this film needs is a good release date to make an impact but RGV is releasing it against Bengal Tiger, which is not a great idea according to the trade.

Mumbai: Soon after Salman Khan made a comment on his alleged ex-beau Katrina Kaif during his appearance on Kapil Sharma’s TV show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, media was abuzz with the news. On the show, the actor took a dig at Katrina, whose face featured on a crackers’ packet. Commenting on the packet, Salman said, “She is of no use to me”. While media was abuzz with Salman’s comment, the news didn’t go down well with Katrina Kaif. The actress called up Salman and yelled at him for his comment. The actor then apologised to Katrina.

“The base of my relationship with Salman was correct, it was true. Which is why we are still able to be friends. But he lives in a parallel universe, always making these jokes about me publicly, which get the media really kicked. Like the comment he made on Kapil’s show when he saw my pictures on a set of crackers. ‘She is of no use to me’! I called him and yelled at him. I can do that, it is the sort of equation we have. Ram Gopal Varma’s horror film titled Patta Pagalu, starring Rajasekhar and Swathi Dixit, was supposed to release last year around May, but it still hasn’t seen the light of day. According to a source, RGV is not interested in the film and after it was completed, he handed it over to Rajasekhar. “So Jeevitha and Rajasekhar will have to decide the film’s fate.

They wanted to re-shoot some scenes but RGV was not interested. So the film is lying at the lab,” adds the source. Rajasekhar too is not showing much interest in releasing the film as he wants to comeback with a big film. “Rajasekhar now wants to do character roles and is waiting for a good opportunity,” says the source.

With small films always getting affected due to the continual postponements of big films, the Producers’ Council has decided to control releases henceforth. “Big films like Baahubali, Srimanthudu, Rudhramadevi and Akhil were postponed several times. Because of these postponements the exhibitors and small films are affected the most. So to keep things in order, the Producers’ Council has decided that once a release date for a film is announced, the makers will have to stick to it,” says a source from the council.

If the producers can’t meet the release date the film should be postponed for at least four weeks. “It will allow small films to release during that time,” adds the source. This rule will come into force from January 1. Interestingly, releases in the Hindi, Kannada and Tamil film industries are always on time, it is only in the Telugu film industry that there’s no control over release dates. “Recently, everyone agreed to it during a meeting,” says the source. “Now, the Telugu producers want to put the releases in a streamline,” added the source.
