‘Gandhi Didn’t Give Back British Degree’

“Gandhi ji has protested against the British, but he has never given back his Law Degree that was given by the British. Had he?” asked iconic actor Kamal Haasan, who reiterated that he’s firm on his words that there is no need to return awards if someone has to protest intolerance.

Kamal felt that those who are calling him insensitive for not returning his three National Awards despite the growing ‘intolerance’ in the country, are not even thinkers. “By giving awards, I’ll be humiliating the jury but not government. If intolerance is rising, then we could raise our voice, but what’s the need and use of returning awards?” he questioned. At the same time he clarified once again that he’s not starting any political party nor inclining with one.

Kamal Haasan’s words are being praised by many. Also a Whatsapp joke is doing rounds about this #AwardWapsi this way: “An award is useful is twice. For the first time when you get it, you’ll become celebrity. After years, when you return it, again you will become big celebrity”â€” Returning awards is not solution for intolerance.

Baahubali Rejected by IFFI Jury

In a major blow to Telugu Film Industry, not even a single Telugu film has been selected to be screened in the Indian Panorama section of the 46th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2015. Even SS Rajamoui’s epic Baahubali, Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu have failed to make it to the list. Among the 26 films selected under this section are seven Bengali, five Hindi and four Malayalam films where they will be screened at the festival held in Goa from Nov 20 to Nov 30. It’s learnt total 5 Telugu films have been sent for nominations including Baahubali, one of the biggest blockbusters this year.

However, much to everyone’s shocker, selection committee, jury which watched Baahubali was not impressed with the film and didn’t send it to the central committee. “The jury members took 27 days to finalize the selections,” IFFI said in a statement, adding that the films are chosen for thematic and aesthetic excellence. This clearly means, Telugu films, particularly Baahubali, failed to meet the thematic, aesthetic excellence.

This is not first time not a single Telugu film is selected for the Indian Panorama. Even last year, not a single Telugu film made it to the festival despite the fact that two Telugu directors were in the selection panel. Since the emphasis was on quality , the two selectors K N T Sastry and Ganga Raju Gunnam went by the prescribed norms. This time, Telugu director and national award winner Praveen Sattaru was among the 13 jury members. “There is a criteria for selecting movies for the Indian Panorama. The Telugu films did not meet it,” Praveen was quoted as saying.

On whole, Telugu film fraternity and Telugu film lovers are in a deep shock that Baahubali, Srimanthudu couldn’t make it to Indian Panorama. It’s high time, filmmakers should introspect on films that churning out each year. Movies might be commercially successful, yet they should also be screened at International Film Festivals to spread the glory of Telugu films.

Senior actor and star comedian in Tollywood Ali has been in wrong news for his controversial and regressive comments on leading star actresses like Samantha and Anushka. Recently, Ali’s comments on Anushka’s thighs during the audio launch event of Size Zero have sparked off a huge controversy, with media houses attacking Ali.

To this, Ali cleared the air in a recent TV interview and apologized to all those who are hurt by his comments and even promised to not make such comments in the future. In the same interview, the TV channel aired the views of Ali’s wife Zubeida about the controversies surrounding her husband.

A visibly upset Zubeida said that her husband steps out of their home each day with the sole intention of bringing a smile on people’s faces. Zubeida further added that Ali was born only to make people laugh and pleaded everyone not to make him a victim of his own jokes.

Talking about the much-discussed video of the Telugu NRI girl Annapurna Sunkara where she lambasted Ali’s chauvinistic comments and alleged that Ali had bought his doctorate, Zubeida said that just Annapurana had so much problems with Ali’s comments, she too has similar issues with Annapurna’s comments about her husband. Well, no wonder that Zubeida spoke like a doting wife.

It has been proved yet another time that the people of this country are mature, thoughtful and only vote for development but not fall prey for promises made before elections by the leaders just to lure them said Telangana IT minister KTR talking to a News channel. He further stated that the loss of BJP in Delhi and Bihar cannot be attributed to be the pulse of the people in all the 29 states.

KTR talking to the media played a safe diplomat by not commenting anything negative on BJP’s loss in the elections but said Bihar choose to vote for Nitish as he has show them his mark of ruling and development in the last 10 years. KTR said Bihar elections are a learning lesson to all parties in each state to understand that common man votes for development and added that these elections cannot be considered a failure of BJP or Modi and cannot be viewed in any single angle.

On the other hand his sister and MP from the same state Kavitha used the platform to make a strong point that Modi’s promises and manifesto before the election are no match to his ruling now. And said the Bihar results are an outcome of his failure to bring is promises into action and congratulated Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad on their win.

Exactly one and a half years ago, Narendra Modi’s role in BJP’s historical victory decimating Congress in the 2014 general elections was celebrated across the country and the PM became a national hero. Months passed and Modi lost his first big test of his strength and suffered a shameful defeat in the hands of Arvind Kejriwal, when BJP won just 3 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls early this year.

And today, the Bihar Assembly poll results show the pathetic affairs of BJP in not just Bihar but also the rising anti-Modi wave across the country. While leaders like Kejriwal, Mamta Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi calling Modi’s rule an intolerant reign of arrogance is expected being his staunch detractors,it is the common people’s resilience in voicing against Modi’s oppressive ways that is gaining more prominence.

While Modi’s charisma seems to have a bleak appeal in Bihar elections, even the party’s religious stance with the ‘Holy Cow’ campaign failed big time, with Biharis siding with the corrupted fodder (read Laloo Praad Yadav) than trusting Modi’s promise of a developed Bihar, despite the PM announcing a whopping 1.25 lakh crore as a special package for the state’s development.

Political analysts opine that Modi’s and BJP’s ignorance of the minorities and the weaker classes and their patronage towards the privileged as one of the prominent reasons behind this defeat. Already, BJP’s supporting parties like Shiv Sena have been demanding Modi to claim responsibility for his party’s poor show. Will the once a history maker mend his ways and bounce back to silence his detractors?

While he was quite aplomb when it comes to films and his work, he looked stunned when media asked him about his mom and yesteryear actress Amala. When asked about his take on Amala returning to screen and doing a film opposite Kamal Haasan after 28-years-long, Akhil looked quite stunned and questioned media persons in return. “Is it? Is she going to work with Kamal? I don’t know,” said Akhil leaving media persons in speculations.

Talking about his mother’s role, contribution to his debut Akhil, Akhil simply said, “She wasn’t involved into this much. But she supported me a lot. She is confident on me and my work.” At the same time, Akhil quashed rumours of his differences with his dad Nagarjuna for postponing the film. “Even I read it. It’s a joke. We’re in happy space. I should thank dad. He did what’s best for film,” said Akhil.

However, Akhil stating that he is not aware of Amala pairing up with Kamal has something that many could understand. Probably, Akhil could have got busy with his work.

Vinayak keeps mum about Chiranjeevi’s 150th

Megastar Chiranjeevi is still undecided about his prestigious 150th project. Earlier it was said that he is planning to do Kathi remake in Vinayak’s director. But after Bruce Lee failure, Kathi remake idea is dropped and now a decision on Vinayak will be taken after the result of Akhil.

Mean while Vinayak is also cautious about the project and refused to comment about the project to media. When asked about the project, he said, “I am meeting Chiranjeevi garu every now and then. It is however not right time to talk about the film”.

Whenever may be the project, Ram Charan and his mother, Surekha will be producing the film on their newly launched, Konidela Productions banner. The movie was supposed to be announced last month but was postponed following the disastrous result of Bruce Lee.

The schedule is a major schedule which will last about for a month. Sardaar Gabbar Singh regular shooting began more than 3 months ago but the film shoot is not even 20% complete as the shoot almost became a start stop affair.

But now Pawan Kalyan is adamant to shoot non-stop for the film and release it for April 9th, 2016 as Summer special. Kajal Agarwal is the heroine in this film. This is the first time Pawan Kalyan and Kajal Agarwal are pairing up for a film.

Vulturous beauty Lakshmi Rai will be playing a special role in the film. She will be also seen in a special hot item song in the movie offering her oomph and glamour. The song was recently canned in Hyderabad.

Young Tiger NTR’s Nannaku Prematho is shooting at a brisk pace in Hyderabad. The Spain schedule of the movie is getting delayed repeatedly and that is causing worry in fans if the movie releases for Sankranthi. However they have perfect planning to complete the movie in time.

Hyderabad schedule of the movie will be completed by 22nd of this month. Spain schedule will begin from 24th and will go on till December 10th. The final item song in the film will be completed in Hyderabad. The entire shoot will be completed latest by December third week.

Nannaku Prematho is all ready for Sankranthi the next year release. Rakul Preet Singh is romancing NTR for the first time in this film directed by Sukumar. Rajendra Prasad and Jagapathi Babu are playing important role in the movie directed by Sukumar.
