Rice millers across the Telangana state have come out against the latest policy of the central government, scrapping the levy of rice by Food Corporation of India even while continuing with the custom milling of paddy.
They have got support from opposition parties, as declared at a demonstration organised by the Telangana Rice Millers Association here on Thursday. TDP floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao and state president L.Ramana, Ponnam Prabhakar from Congress, Chada Venkat Reddy from CPI announced their support to the millers’ agitation.
A press statement by the Association alleged that close to 2000 rice mills in the state are facing closure owing to scrapping of levy. Pointing out that the custom milling charges too remained unchanged over long period, the millers demanded Rs.75 per quintal of paddy for raw rice and Rs.100 per quintal for boiled rice. The output of raw rice has dropped to 62 per cent while the centre is insisting on delivery of custom milled raw rice at 67 per cent, they claimed. Addressing the millers, president of the South India Rice Millers Association Govardhan Reddy said the government was encouraging corporate feudalism by driving out small players so that the field is open for corporate giants.
Demands by the Association include restoration of levy procurement, recognition of rice mills as procurement centres, and test milling of paddy at rice mills before fixing percentage of output among others.
Director Scores Hat-trick With Kalyan
Unfortunately it’s a hat trick. It’s tough to get directorial chances for many youngsters, aspirants and also fading out seniors but this filmmaker got three back to back chance with same hero and still he failed to materialise them.
We are talking about Mallikharjuna aka Malli, who directed Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in three films for now. His first one is Abhimanyu, where the film’s story sounds good but flawed direction made it a flop.
Then after some gap he directed Kalyan Ram’s Kathhi, which created more hungama for its title than its story, has fallen flat on its face. And today, we have Sher coming up, with no such lionistic traits to give competition to any other flick at box office.
At audio launch of this latest movie, Kalyan Ram said, “If Sher clicks, Tollywood will see a good director”, but unfortunately the film flopped. While the back to back chances given by this hero are golden opportunities, scoring hat trick of flops is something no one would dare to do.
Facebook to offer buying selling process ?
New York, Oct 30: In the near future, Facebook would no longer remain just the socializing platform – it would also likely become a marketplace. The social networking giant is testing a dedicated buying and selling community called ‘Local Market’, powered by Facebook groups.
A number of Facebook users recently reported seeing the new feature appearing briefly in their Facebook iPhone app, sometimes in place of the “Messenger” button, Tech Crunch reported.
The feature, which is only in testing but not broadly distributed, is a more structured marketplace aimed at buyers and sellers, allowing Facebook users to browse through or post items to sell across a variety of product categories like autos, appliances, furniture, clothing, household, kids, books, and much more.
The new section included both a ‘Buy’ and ‘Sell’ interface, as well as a way to search across the marketplace for particular items using keywords. Items available for sale are categorized, and include photos and prices.

Rumours are always flowing these days about the presence of various new actors in Baahubali: The Conclusion. As the first part scored a bigger success than anyone anticipated, makers are trying to turn the second part into another phenomenal success.

Madhu Priya marriage : All’s well that ends well !
Adilabad, Oct 30: Singer Madhu Priya tied nuptial knot with her lover Srikanth at Kagaznagar in Adilabad today. It may be noted the singer left home without informing parents and lodged a police complaint against them.
The police today counselled the couple and their parents. The singer’s father urged her to concentrate on career and to postpone the marriage. He later agreed to perform marriage on November 18.
As Madhu Priya insisted that marriage should be held today, her parents left her in town. Earlier, Police asked the singer’s parents not to stop the marriage as both the bride and groom were majors.
Anuhya Rape-Murder: Death for Convict
Describing the case as ‘rarest of rare’, Mumbai sessions court on Friday sentenced death for the convict in the rape-murder of Esther Anuhya, a TCS techie who was found dead in January. 39-yr-old Chandrabhan Sanap was convicted for rape and murder of 23-year-old Esther. Chandrabhan was convicted under IPC Section 302 (murder), Section 376 (rape) and Section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence).
Esther, who was native of Machilipatnam, was employed as assistant system engineer with TCS at its office in Suburban Goregaon. After celebrating her Christamas holidays at her residence, she was returning to Mumbai on Jan 5, 2015, where Sanap spotted her sitting alone at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Kurla. Pretending to be a cab driver, he offered to drop her off at Andheri on his two-wheeler where he raped and murdered her at an isolated place.
The decomposed body of Anuhya was found off the Eastern Express Highway in suburban Bhandup on January 16, 2014. Sanap was caught in early March, after two months of man hunt.
“The case falls under the category of the rarest of rare, hence the accused is awarded death sentence…He must be hanged by his neck till he is dead,” said Special Women’s court judge Vrushali Joshi pronouncing the verdict.
Jonathan Prasad and Thomas Noble – the father and brother of the 23-year old victim, Esther, welcomed the verdict. “Justice has been done and we are grateful to the police, courts and media for taking up the cause so diligently… It will serve as a deterrent to others,” Prasad told media-persons outside the court.
Person Dies while watching Raju Gari Gadi
In an unfortunate incident, an elderly person was died on Friday while watching horror-comedy Raju Gari Gadi. One, Amarnath, died while seeing the morning show of Raju Gari Gadi at the Metro theatre in Old City, Hyderabad. Amarnath was 55-year-old. He was from Bahadurpura.
It’s learnt that theatre’s staff spotted Amarnath after the completion of show. By the time they had spotted him, he was found dead. The matter has been informed to local police personnel and the family members of Amarnath.
Knowing of this ill-fated incident, director Ohmkar expressed shock and condolences to the bereaved family. Ohmkar said to have offered Rs 1 Lakh as ex gratia for the victim’s family. Starring Ashwin, Chetan, Dhanya in lead roles, the horror-comedy released last week (Oct 23) on the eve of Dasara was faring well at the ticket windows.
Imran Khan divorces his Wife
Islamabad, Oct 30: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and wife Reham Khan have divorced with mutual consent after 10 months of marriage, an official said on Friday. Six months in, rumours that the marriage was falling apart began to circulate, Dawn online reported.
While the couple was seen together on occasion, Imran Khan, 62, last month tweeted an apparent refutation of the rumours: “I am shocked at a TV channel making slanderous statement about my marriage. I strongly urge the media to desist from such baseless statements.”
In a series of tweets, Imran Khan wrote that the divorce is painful for him, Reham, 42, and their respective families and requested everyone to respect their privacy. The PTI chairman and television journalist Reham Khan had tied the knot in a simple nikkah ceremony which took place in January this year at his private residence.
A source close to the PTI chairman, said the two were “just not getting along.” “She wanted to get involved with politics and that is not what Khan wanted at all. She just did not want to sit at home,” he said.
“There were teething problems as well over other issues which were being resolved but this was a major issue – she wanted to get into politics and was not ready to back down.” Sources said Reham has left Pakistan for London and is expected to address a conference there. “We have decided to part ways and file for divorce,” she tweeted.
Sachin’s Son in Vishakapatnam !
Vizianagaram, Oct 30: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar arrived in Vizianagaram town yesterday to play in a three-day warm-up game at Vijji Grounds .
The match will be a prelude to Indian Cricket Association’s under-16 cricket match between Maharashtra and Vidarbha in Visakhapatnam.
On the first day, Arjun Tendulkar stood not out on seven runs. Hundreds of people arrived at the stadium to have a glimpse of Arjun, but they were not allowed inside.
Mumbai team won the toss and decided to bat. On day one, the team scored 229 for the loss of six wickets.
Few months ago, Arjun bowled to England cricketers in nets during Ashes series.
