In a shocking incident, a Bhojpuri filmmaker has attacked young actress and actor with acid. The victims were identified as Rupali (20) and Vikas (19) and the culprit is Ajay Kumar who directed handful of Bhojpuri films. The incident took place when Rupali and Vikas were taking rest in a college compound in Narayanpur village under Rasra Kotwali police station limits where they were shooting for the film.

Both Rupali, Vikas were rushed to nearby community health centre from where they were referred to the district hospital. According to reports, the health condition of Rupali is said to be critical as she suffered major burns.

Apparently, Ajay had been deeply upset with Rupali for teaming up with Vikas and working on with him for a film against his wish. Unable to digest this, Ajay reportedly resorted to attack both Rupali, Vikas with acid. Soon after the incident, Ajay fled the spot and absconding. Cops have launched a man hunt to nab Ajay. The incident yet again proved the dark side of film industry.

This was an unexpected question Bharat Ratna Abdul Kalam had to face from a young student during one of his interactions with students at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan International School in Singapore in February, 2006. The then President was speechless for while with this sudden and pleasantly embarrassing query from the student.

Quickly gaining his composure, Kalam jokingly said that he wishes that all the students present there would get the right partners in their lives. All the students and the faculty broke into a loud laughter with Kalam’s reply. Kalam then said that he would not have achieved even half of what he had achieved if he married.

Born in a modest fishing village in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam went on to play a crucial role in India’s tryst with space exploration. The ‘Missile Man of India’ then turned President in 2002 and is fondly called ‘People’s President’. The legend breathed his last following a cardiac arrest during an interaction with the students at IIM Shillong, yesterday evening.

“Don’t declare a holiday on my death, instead work an extra day if you love me,” once said the Bharat Ratna and the former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam. However, several state governments across the country have declared holidays to the government offices, public schools and other government institutions. Even the newly formed Telangana state declared a state holiday as a mark of respect to the Missile Man of India.

But Kalam’s old friend and the Chief Minister of Andha Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu proved yet again that he is cut above the rest. Babu ordered all the government institutions and organisations to work for an extra hour, showing the true respect for Kalam’s wish. Babu instructed all the government authorities to remember the services offered by the legendary scientist to the nation. And in schools, students will be taught about the life and legacy of Abdul Kalam in that extra hour.

In his statement following the passing away of one of India’s pioneer scientists, Babu said that the Nation has lost an icon. Babu remembered Kalam’s wish and said that working at least an hour extra will be a fitting tribute for the legend.

Well-known Aerospace scientist, author and former Indian President Dr Abdul Kalam died before he could finish his dream book. Similar to his Vision 2020, which aimed at transforming India into a developed nation, he was in the process of writing a similar book for Tamil Nadu in particular.

Kalam had envisioned for writing a book in Tamil about the growth, development of Tamil Nadu. In fact, he wrote seven chapters of the book but before he could finish it, fate played spoilsport and took the India’s Missile Man away in form of death.

Titled “Ennathil Nalamirunthal Kanavu Tamilagam Uruvagum, Puyalai Thandinal Thendral,” Kalam wrote in detail about his vision for his state in the seven chapters. Co-author of the book and scientific advisor to Kalam when he was President, V Ponraj corroborated the same. On July 23, Ponraj said he had a last discussion with Kalam on the book.

“He dreamed of a developed Tamil Nadu and wanted such a State to blossom, the book had his vision for such a transformation,” Ponraj was quoted as saying.

Trisha Wants To Act With Nayan

Egos and heroines usually come hand in hand. If they’re peers, the egos reach peaks. Rarely they appreciate other heroines’ work, good looks. Defying the conventional, actress Trisha has openly lauded Nayantara. She praised Nayan’s acting prowess and in fact, expressed interest to work together.

I want to act with Nayantara. Although few tried to bring us together, it did not materialise for various reasons. Even Venkat Prabhu with whom I teamed up with for Mankatha, keeps telling me that he wants to work with Nayan and me together,” said Trisha in an interview.

Not many know that Trisha and Nayan are good friends and they both share good rapport. Even then, maintaining friendship between peers is something that deserve special appreciation. Isn’t it?

Taapsee Feels Sad For Avantika!!!

While Tamanna herself is basking in the glory of the success delivered by the Avantika of “Baahubali”, curly haired seductress Taapsee Pannu has something else to share with us. Sometimes even positive feedback sounds negative. And the way many girls are blasting Rajamouli for portraying Tamanna as objectified character inside the flick, definitely Taapsee’s remarks might spin a controversy.

“Characters written for heroines are so one-dimensional, where her duty is to woo the hero. Latest example is that a brilliant performer like Tamanna got nothing to do in Baahubali”, said Taapsee, in allegiance with the opinion that women doesn’t get good roles on silver screen in commercial cinema. Many are of the opinion that Tamanna’s presence has ended in the flick once Sivudu meets her and they have sex in the song ‘Pachha bottesina..’.

Taapsee however says that heroine get pampered a lot off the screen and they are treated like princess. She hopes, one day this off-screen treatment will become on-screen characters. Earlier a noted journalist and the other day a Telugu girl have condemned the act of hero disrobing Tamanna’s clothes in Baahuabli, but Taapsee hasn’t spoke much of it.

Superstar Mahesh Babu is all set to hit cinemas in nearly 10 days, as his “Srimanthudu” is ready. Ever since he’s labelled as the Most Desirable Star in India, he’s trying to live up to that mark by trying to look quite new each time with each film. His latest movie is no exception.

To pull the character of a wealthy NRI in Srimanthudu, he got trained in various forms to prepare his body. We hear that strenuous weight sessions and cardio schedules have helped Mahesh sculpt his stunning physique for the film. After going through this rigorous training activity, the Dookudu star has pulled more than 7 new avatars for the film.

Right from wearing a corporate look to college boy look, action hero look to dhoti-shirt villager avatar there are four looks for the film. His different look altogether in songs like Charuseela is another one. We have to wait for the film to hit theatres to write a bible on Mahesh looks.

Directed by Koratala Siva, “Srimanthudu” is a message oriented love story, which talks about both giving back something to the village that gave us everything, and also the responsibilities wealthy NRIs should take up. Excitement is building up as release date is inching in.

‘My last day with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’

Share

“What I will be remembered for.. my memory of the last day with the great Kalam sir…

It has been eight hours since we last talked – sleep eludes me and memories keep flushing down, sometimes as tears. Our day, 27th July, began at 12 noon, when we took our seats in the flight to Guhawati. Dr. Kalam was 1A and I was IC. He was wearing a dark colored “Kalam suit”, and I started off complimenting, “Nice color!” Little did I know this was going to be the last color I will see on him.

Long, 2.5 hours of flying in the monsoon weather. I hate turbulence, and he had mastered over them. Whenever he would see me go cold in shaking plane, he would just pull down the window pane and saw, “Now you don’t see any fear!”

That was followed by another 2.5 hours of car drive to IIM Shillong. For these two legged trip of five hours we talked, discussed and debated. These were amongst hundreds of the long flights and longer drives we have been together over the last six years.

As each of them, this was as special too. Three incidents/discussions in particular will be “lasting memories of our last trip”.

First, Dr. Kalam was absolutely worried about the attacks in Punjab. The loss of innocent lives left him filled with sorrow. The topic of lecture at IIM Shillong was Creating a Livable Planet Earth. He related the incident to the topic and said, “it seems the man made forces are as big a threat to the livability of earth as pollution”. We discussed on how, if this trend of violence, pollution and reckless human action continues we will forced to leave earth. “Thirty years, at this rate, maybe”, he said. “You guys must do something about it… it is going to be your future world.”

Our second discussion was more national. For the past two days, Dr. Kalam was worried that time and again Parliament, the supreme institution of democracy, was dysfunctional. He said, “I have seen two different governments in my tenure. I have seen more after that. This disruption just keeps happening. It is not right. I really need to find out a way to ensure that the parliament works on developmental politics.”

He then asked me to prepare a surprise assignment question for the students at IIM Shillong, which he would give them only at the end of the lecture. He wanted to them to suggest three innovative ways to make the Parliament more productive and vibrant. Then, after a while he returned on it. “But how can ask them to give solutions if I don’t have any myself”.

For the next one hour, we thwarted options after options, who come up with his recommendation over the issue. We wanted to include this discussion in our upcoming book, Advantage India.

Third, was an experience from the beauty of his humility. We were in a convoy of 6-7 cars. Dr. Kalam and I were in the second car. Ahead us was an open gypsy with three soldiers in it. Two of them were sitting on either side and one lean guy was standing atop, holding his gun. One hour into the road journey, Dr. Kalam said, “Why is he standing? He will get tired. This is like punishment. Can you ask a wireless message to given that he may sit?”

I had to convince him, he has been probably instructed to keep standing for better security. He did not relent. We tried radio messaging, that did not work. For the next 1.5 hours of the journey, he reminded me thrice to see if I can hand signal him to sit down. Finally, realizing there is little we can do – he told me, “I want to meet him and thank him”.

Later, when we landed in IIM Shillong, I went inquiring through security people and got hold of the standing guy. I took him inside and Dr. Kalam greeted him. He shook his hand, said thank you buddy. “Are you tired? Would you like something to eat? I am sorry you had to stand so long because of me.”

The young lean guard, draped in black cloth, was surprised at the treatment. He lost words, just said, “Sir, aapke liye to 6 ghante bhi khade rahenge.”

After this, we went to the lecture hall. He did not want to be late for the lecture. “Students should never be made to wait,” he always said. I quickly set up his mike, briefed on final lecture and took position on the computers. As I pinned his mike, he smiled and said,

“Funny guy! Are you doing well?” ‘Funny guy’, when said by Kalam could mean a variety of things, depending on the tone and your own assessment. It could mean, you have done well, you have messed up something, you should listen to him or just that you have been plain naïve or he was just being jovial.

Over six years I had learnt to interpret Funny Guy like the back of my palm. This time it was the last case.

“Funny guy! Are you doing well?” he said. I smiled back, “Yes”. Those were the last words he said. Two minutes into the speech, sitting behind him, I heard a long pause after completing one sentence. I looked at him, he fell down.

We picked him up. As the doctor rushed, we tried whatever we could. I will never forget the look in his three-quarter closed eyes and I held his head with one hand and tried reviving with whatever I could. His hands clenched, curled onto my finger. There was stillness on his face and those wise eyes were motionlessly radiating wisdom. He never said a word. He did not show pain, only purpose was visible.

In five minutes we were in the nearest hospital. In another few minutes the they indicated the missile man had flown away, forever. I touched his feet, one last time. Adieu old friend! Grand mentor! See you in my thoughts and meet in the next birth.

As turned back, a closet of thoughts opened.

Often he would ask me, “You are young, decide what will like to be remembered for?” I kept thinking of new impressive answers, till one day I gave up and resorted to tit-for-tat. I asked him back, “First you tell me, what will you like to be remembered for? President, Scientist, Writer, Missile man, India 2020, Target 3 billion…. What?” I thought I had made the question easier by giving options, but he sprang on me a surprise. “Teacher”, he said.

Then something he said two weeks back when we were discussing about his missile time friends. He said, “Children need to take care of their parents. It is sad that sometimes this is not happening.” He paused and said, “Two things. Elders must also do. Never leave wealth at your deathbed – that leaves a fighting family. Second, one is blessed is one can die working, standing tall without any long drawn ailing. Goodbyes should be short, really short.”

Today, I look back – he took the final journey, teaching, what he always wanted to be remembered doing. And, till his final moment he was standing, working and lecturing. He left us, as a great teacher, standing tall. He leaves the world with nothing accumulated in his account but loads of wishes and love of people. He was a successful, even in his end.

Will miss all the lunches and dinners we had together, will miss all the times you surprised me with your humility and startled me with your curiosity, will miss the lessons of life you taught in action and words, will miss our struggles to race to make into flights, our trips, our long debates. You gave me dreams, you showed me dreams need to be impossible, for anything else is a compromise to my own ability. The man is gone, the mission lives on. Long live Kalam.”

Your indebted student,
Srijan Pal Singh

Love Affair between Bollywood bombshell Anushka Sharma and Team India’s temperamental captain Virat Kohli. They never hid their relationship and even when Kohli faced attacks from all quarters for his poor form in England and Australia, rumoured due to the presence of Anushka, he stood by her side.

Now in a shocker Big B Amitabh Bachchan gave strong warning to Kohli’s lover Anushka Sharma. It is not that Amitabh gave warning to Anushka for her love affair with Virat Kohli.

Couple of days back, Anushka Sharma troubled by mischief mongers on social media warned that she will block them all. She even went on to warn them with a tweet “Trying to keep my Twitter positive (well as positive as possible) so will BLOCK people who rant nonsense with no sense of responsibility.”

Big B Amitabh Bachchan, who is her social media account warned her against blocking him. He tweeted “@AnushkaSharma +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ …. don’t you dare BLOCK me after all these ‘positives’ .. haha .. love.” Anushka too took it in a lighter vein and replied back “@SrBachchan hahahahaaha noooo way !! No Jagan, We have Chiranjeevi

Naturally there are rumors all the time over whether Jagan Reddy would head back to his alma mater, the grand old Congress party of India. This issue comes to the fore repeatedly and this time recently when Rahul Gandhi visited AP, there was a discussion regarding the same among Congress leaders too.

In a closed door meeting after visiting Bhagwan Sai Samadhi in Puttaparthi, Rahul reportedly told congress eaders that a person, who has committed grave financial crimes like Jagan, shouldn’t be negotiated for any compromise in the future. Rahul added that Jagan should never be let into Congress again.

This has somewhat dampened the hopes of some Congress leaders who wanted Rahul to pass a hint that Jagan still remains their man, who can be requested to make a comeback. Quite remarkably, sources say that Rahul was impressed with the crowds which thronged for the sake of Chiru.

Rahul reportedly told Congress leaders in AP that they have Chiranjeevi.  who is a crowd puller and added that they should start using his services properly for the party rather than any false hopes of Jagan merging his party back into Congress. So, the future congress president has given his verdict!
