After the much-hyped Auto Johnny shelved, there have been intense discussions about Megastar Chiranjeevi teaming up with VV Vinayak for the remake of Tamil blockbuster Kaththi as his comeback film. While the Mega camp never acknowledged the reports, they never denied them, making it unofficially official.

In a recent promotional interview for Bruce Lee, an interviewer asked Charan about Ram Gopal Varma’s tweets expressing his dissent over Chiru choosing a remake and not a straight subject for a prestigious project like his comeback film, which will show him in a full-fledged lead role after almost 8 years.

Reacting to RGV’s comments, Charan said that there is nothing wrong in remaking a Tamil or any language movie which was already proven a blockbuster. Charan said that his dad successfully remade Munnabhai MBBS as Shankardada MBBS and his babai Pawan Kalyan remade Dabangg as Gabbar Singh.

Charan also said that his next film will be a remake, hinting about the remake of Tamil hit Thani Oruvan in Surender Reddy’s direction.

Why This Mega Battle, Never Before?

It is a rare gesture, mega heroes battling out at the box office. In three weeks time, three mega films are clashing. While stylish star Allu Arjun’s Rudhramadevi released on October 9th to above average reports, mega power star Ram Charan has come up with Bruce Lee- The Fighter hit the screens yesterday. Megastar Chiranjeevi played a cameo, but significant role in the action entertainer.

Now, another mega movie is ready to enthrall audience. Varun Tej’s Kanche is seeing lights on October 22nd. Actually, the film directed by Krish was supposed to release next month, but to utilize Akhil’s Akhil movie postponement and also the Dasara holiday season, makers have pre-poned their movie. But, this film has to fight with other mega biggies- Rudhramadevi and Bruce Lee.

Ram Charan recently revealed that, there is a secret agreement in the industry to maintain minimum gap between the big releases. And this is the reason for Mahesh Babu postponing Srimanthudu to allot good number of theaters for Rajamouli’s Baahubali. Fortunately, both the films took first and second slots in highest grossers.

Usually, mega heroes prefer keeping at least few weeks gap among their releases. But, for the first time, not just 2, three films are clashing at big screens. This will surely affect collections of all the films. There are many heroes from single family (mega), so, the battle can’t be avoided for any time. In September last week, Sai Dharam Tej arrived with Subramanyam For Sale that is turning out to be a decent hit. Why this mega battle, like never before, questions a mega fan?

Heroine Dubbed For Charan’s Sister

Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Bruce Lee was released a couple of days ago and the response from fans and critics has been lukewarm. The film is primarily based on brother-sister sentiment loaded with action and entertainment.

The character of Kriti Kharbanda, who played Ram Charan’s sister in the film, became very crucial for the film’s emotional drama. Interestingly, Sreenu Vaitla decided not to go for a routine dubbing artiste for Kriti and chose dusky Telugu beauty Madhu Shalini to lend voice for Kriti’s character.

This news is revealed by Madhu Shalini herself, who excitedly tweeted, “My first attempt at dubbing. Dubbed for @kriti_official #BruceLeeTheFigher”. Quickly acknowledging Madhu Shalini’s efforts, Kriti replied, “u were amazing madhu! Thank u so so much”.

Apparently, Madhu Shalini’s work even impressed popular character artiste Rao Ramesh who was heard saying that Madhu Shalini’s voice was “fab”. Madhu Shalini will soon be seen in Kamal Haasan’s bilingual thriller Cheekati Rajyam.

All Eyes on First Telugu World War Film

Ever since director Krish Jagarlamudi announced that his next movie Kanche is set against the World War II, the film has been in the full glare of media. In fact, several filmmakers and movie lovers cutting across languages have been keeping a tab on the film. The film’s spellbinding trailer is what made it possible and set the standards high by raising the expectations bar.

If latest reports are anything to go by, even many in Bollywood are watching out for Krish’s Kanche. Thanks to his Bollywood debut Gabbar is Back with which he proved his mettle, many of B-town makers, actors are keeping a close eye on Kanche.

The situation is no different in Telugu. Krish has earned a sobriquet of sensible filmmaker. In a career spanning seven years in industry, he made sensible films such as Gamyam, Vedam, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum which got critical acclaim and did moderately well at the Box Office.

For Kanche, Krish said to have blend love story in the backdrop of a war which is raising curiosity of movie buffs. Featuring Varun Tej, Pragya Jaiswal in the lead roles, the movie is touted to be Telugu cinema’s first world war film. At the moment, all eyes are on the film which is slated for Oct 22nd release. After 3-year-long hiatus, Krish is back to Telugu to offer a sensible film to audience.

Premier Show Damaged Bruce Lee Collections?

Share

Ram Charan’s latest offing Bruce Lee hasn’t got huge openings as expected. Though it got decent openings in India, they weren’t record-breaking openings. Considering Ram Charan’s craze, wide publicity of Bruce Lee and a slew of big-ticket films (Baahubali, Srimanthudu) doing well recently, many expected Bruce Lee to surpass the existing records. However, the film failed to do so and fell flat at the Box Office. The collections in Ceded are said to be jaw-dropping as it’s one of the poorest openings in Charan’s career.

Going into details, it is assumed that premiere show of Bruce Lee is behind the damage of openings. While Charan screened the film for the visually impaired students of Devnar for a good cause, it said to have backfired. “Had the premier strictly kept for students and the cast, crew of Bruce Lee, the openings would have been better. Since it was open for others, negative talk got spread,” opined a trade expert.

Also few other point out that the show time of the premier too had its share of effect on opening day collections. “The first premier was screened at around 8.30 PM in India even before film had its premieres in US. The mixed talk on social networking sites dented the overseas openings as well,” said an overseas trade analyst.

It’s learnt that the film received several brickbats from overseas viewers and if trade reports are anything to go by, overseas collections are pretty poor. Since Bruce Lee is only big release for Dasara and happens to be Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s comeback film, many say that this is high time they should promote it well to overcome the mixed talk. Let’s wait and watch.

Akhil’s Drop Makes 22nd Too Busy

Looks like this Dasara is getting too busy to handle. As “Akhil” dropped out from the race due to ‘graphics’ issue, many other films have now jumped in for October 22nd. Also with “Bruce Lee” getting below average reviews, every small movie is now trying to prove its mettle.

Already we have Varun Tej’s “Kanche” and Kalyan Ram’s “Sher” locking horns on 22nd. These two films will be walking away with majority of theatres at box office. In case if Bruce Lee records optimum collections, then Kanche and Sher will get huge mileage as exhibitors will surely offer them those theatres.

Now, anchor Ohmkar joined the race by announcing that his horror comedy “Raju Gari Gadhi” will be hitting cinemas on the same day. Another youngster who is also slapping thighs happens to be Sumanth Ashwin. His latest movie “Columbus” is also releasing on 22nd only.  That makes the Dasara festival more colourful, thereby giving many options for cinema lovers to decide.

Though some cinema critics feel that the traffic is heavy, Dasara season has this advantage of accommodating as many films as possible. We have to see which of them will prove mettle next Friday.
