‘Mahatma Kalam’: Rajini compares Kalam to Gandhi
It’s not too often that India’s biggest Superstar, Rajinikanth logs in to his Twitter page to greet his two million fans. The last time Rajini tweeted was in March, when the former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew passed away. And now, after a few months of hibernation, Rajini again tweeted this evening on the passing away of Bharat Ratna Abdul Kalam.
Even bigger and a touching surprise was that Rajini compared Kalam with the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, as he tweeted, “I did not have the privilege of seeing our mahatma Gandhiji, Kamaraj or Barathiyaar but was blessed enough to live admist mahatma Kalamji.”
Praising Kalam’s rise even after coming from a modest background, Rajini said, “From humble beginnings Abdul Kalam ji rose to great heights but continued to live humble and simple. He lived to inspire millions of people.”
The ‘Thalaiva’ finally paid his homage to the country’s most loved teacher and said, “He endeared himself to student community motivating them at all levels. God has embraced him silently with love. May his soul rest in peace.”
When Sreesanth contemplated Suicide
Every human being have a bad-phase at some point in their careers. While some of them stay strong despite all odds, Others ruin their lives with hasty decisions.
Even Cricketer S Sreesanth who is a member of India’s squad for 2011 World Cup had faced the toughest challenge of his life when his name figured in IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. He was arrested by Delhi police, sent to Tihar jail and a life ban was imposed on him by BCCI.
Few days ago, A Delhi Court has dropped all charges against all the 36 accused including Sreesanth in the spot-fixing scandal. This gave an opportunity for the former Indian cricketer to break his months-long silence.
Sreesanth reveals he contemplated on suicide while being in Tihar jail. He claims it’s his devotion to Lord Ettumanoorappan and support from family members helped him overcome suicidal tendencies. The flamboyant cricketer is now waiting for BCCI to lift life ban on him, so that he could play the sport he loves the most again.
Pouring water on his dreams, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of revoking the ban on Sreesanth and two other cricketers (Ankeet Chavan & Ajit Chandila). Clarifying that Disciplinary Actions & Criminal Proceedings are quite different, He said a life ban was imposed on these three cricketers due to their indiscipline and hence it would stay.
Telugu Films – They Are Not Comedy Pieces
Rape of Avantika and a Telugu girl’s lashing out at Telugu films and how directors treating the women, have created a new discussion altogether. Are Telugu films really insulting women all the time and they have nothing to boast about? Why does only negative qualities seen in an electron microscope, while positive aspects are not spoken even in grams and milligrams?
If we keep the portrayal of Avantika aside, there are films like Arundathi where a heroine played the central part. In the olden times we have many movies of Vijayasanthi and then there are some stunning roles performed by Soundarya and Ramya Krishna. All those films showed how determined a woman is. If we take the latest bunch of Telugu hits, we have movies like S/o Satyamurthy that have preached values.
Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum taught us about revolutionising the society when needed. Even a highly commercial movie like Attarintiki Daredi spoke about the need to maintain healthy relations with once own relatives. Films like Kerintha spoke about friendship, Malli Malli Idhi Rani Roju flaunted true love, while Kamal’s Uttama Villain explained the truth between drama and reality. All these films are not comedy pieces.
If there is 1% of negativity, say it false portrayal of woman, or bashing on elderly persons by younger, we could notice 99% of positivity too. At the same time, certain scenes are reflection of society itself, whether good or bad. So if we see at all these positive things, no doubt, we could beat the chest and say, Telugu films are not comedy pieces. With due respects to who criticised the negative aspects, its better if we take the positives from films first.
