Reel Buzz: Tamanna Hits Gold

Share

Tamanna.

Heroines have a shorter shelf life than heroes and it is best if they can make money while hay shines.

Tamanna has recently started White And Gold jewellery shop and she says it’s doing good business.

Tamil actress Vidyullata had made the first purchase and Tamanna says her business has been doing good ever since.

Contemporary jewellery with traditional touch are best-sellers she says. Apparently she manages her staff by giving advise over the phone.

Well, Tamanna is surely a beauty with brains as she has turned a successful entrepreneur when her career is doing good.

Well, the latest rumour doing rounds is that Kajal Agrawal has been throwing parties for her heroes to get new films in Tollywood and Kollywood.

Though the rumours have been around for ages, this is the latest rumour doing rounds about Kajal these days.

Well, Kajal denies these rumours, but insiders say the parties are happening.

Fans Disappointed With Swathi’s Look

Share

Swathi is one heroine who has created an identity of her own not just in Tollywood but also in Tamil Nadu.

Having originally shot to fame with her famous television programme ‘Colors’, she soon made her foray onto the big screen.

Over the years the number of films she has done have been limited but well in keeping with her image of a native Telugu heroine.

Although she does appear in glamor roles, she does not expose and naturally, the offers she gets have been along those lines. Hence, she got more roles in Tamil industry where more films are made with scope for performance rather than skin show.

Recently, the posters of Swathi’s upcoming film ‘Tripura’ were released in which she was seen in traditional ‘Langa-Voni’ attire.

What was remarkable about her appearance was that she seemed to have put on weight and her face also looked more mature than in her earlier films.

Is it the result of make-up or has she gained weight? Either way, Swathi would do well to go on a correctional course at least for the sake of her loyal fan base.

Naga Chaitanya finally had given a green signal to Karthikeya fame Chandoo Mondeti. Chaitanya is currently wrapping up the shooting of his next with Gautam Menon. He will begin this new project from August. Naga Chaitanya is likely to romance Tamannah for the third time in his career.

Earlier they have paired up in Thadaka and 100% Love. Interestingly, all their previous combination films have resulted in good commercial outcome. Akkineni fans will want the same to repeat for the third too. The movie is touted to be a family drama with a little tinge of action.

Julayi Producer, Radhakrishna will be producing the film on his new banner, Sitara Entertainments. A Tamil music director may be roped in for the film. More details of the project later.

Naga Shourya’s first attempt with a mass entertainer, Jadoogadu got dismal reports and openings on its release day. The actor is now back again to his romantic entertainers for good. He is already shooting for a film in ‘Ala Modhalaindhi’ fame Nandini Reddy’s direction.

Yevade Subrahmanyam fame Malavika Nair is romancing the actor in this movie. We have learnt that the makers are planning to name the film as ‘Kalyana Vaibhogame’ which should be pleasing to the years of the family audience. An official confirmation regarding the same is awaited.

The shooting of the film is also most complete. Senior producer KL Damodar Prasad is producing the film while Kalyani Koduri is the film’s music composer. Nandini Reddy’s last film, Jabardasth not only got her a flop but also drowned her in plagiarism allegations, she is keen on making a comeback with this film.

Pic Talk: Meena’s cute daughter to debut in films

Here’s a cute picture of Nainika Durairaj, the 4 year old doting daughter of actress Meena. The apple of eye of Meena is all set to amuse her mother’s fans as she is making her silver screen debut soon with Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Samantha’s upcoming film which was launched yesterday.

After reigning the south circuit with her homely looks and charming performances, Meena got married to Vidyasagar, a Bangalore based  software engineer in 2009. Following her marriage, Meena had cut down her filmy assignments to look after family and also to raise her daughter. Thanks to her mother’s popularity in Tollywood, we can surely expect filmmakers here to cast Nainika in Telugu films as well.

Jadoogadu Movie Review – 2.5/5

Share

Young Hero Naga Shourya who has made an impression with films like Oohalu Gusagusalade and Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya tried his hand at mass masala this time. Jadoogadu is directed by Yogesh that was aggressively promoted by VVN Prasad.

Story :

Krishna (Naga Shourya) comes to the city with an aim of getting rich. He takes up loan recovery business to earn one crore in few days. He joins as a henchman to Srisailam (Zakir Hussain) so that people would pay his dues out of fear. Krishna falls in love with a nurse (Sonarika) and plans to settle in Dubai after his job is done. But Srisailam involves Krishna in a multi crore scam, which the latter is not aware about.

Performances:

Naga Shourya is at home while doing comedy and romantic scenes. However he has to work on his body language to impress in masala scenes. His lean physique doesn’t allow him to shine in action scenes. Looks like this isn’t his comfort zone as yet. Sonarika Bhadoria looked sizzling hot in the songs. She couldn’t emote but got the looks to impress.

Zakir Hussain is okay as the villain. Ravi Kale is his usual self. Srinivasa Reddy is loud but entertaining. Saptagiri failed with his prolonged monologue. There are too many actors in the film but none of them were offered a memorable character.

Technicalities:

Director Yogesh who doesn’t have an impressive resume failed once again with this lazy effort. His screenplay should have been bang on the money to make this script work. Sadly it didn’t. He did his best to make it look very stylish, but there isn’t enough substance to click.

Story and dialogues written by Madhusushan are mediocre. Mani Sharma’s son Mahati music is passable. He needs to hone his skills to stay in the game. Cinematography is fine. Editing is patchy. Production values are good.

Thumbs Up:

  • Hero Characterization
  • Climax

Thumbs Down:

  • Screenplay
  • Direction
  • Editing

Analysis:

Jadoogadu has a nice take off with entertaining scenes. Srinivasa Reddy and Prithvi gives ample support to Naga Shourya in the initial episodes that are admittedly good. Things go for a toss after a while making it extremely difficult for Naga Shourya to carry the film on his shoulders. He is no Raviteja or Allu Arjun to pull this off.

Director Yogesh should have written a taut screenplay with numerous twists to make this work. Instead he wrote a boring screenplay with numerous characters that make it clumsy all the more. With the main plot not moving anywhere, director banked on Saptagiri’s comedy to lift the spirits but in vain. He is getting repetitive with his Nellore accent and limited expressions.

Saptagiri goes overboard many a time and the director didn’t even bother to edit it out of the final cut. Climax is slightly better compared to the horrendous second half as the hero explains how he executed his ‘master plan’.

It is quite an achievement for the writer and director to find a producer for this lackluster script. So much money is spent and it is certain to leave a deep hole in the pockets of the investors for sure. Films like these are likely to impress the mass masala lovers, but Jadoogadu may not strike with them too.

Verdict: This Masala is Stale!

Filmfare awards disappoint big time!

Share

filmfare

The Annual Filmfare Awards function concluded last night in Chennai. The Prestigious film awards function ended up as huge disappointment at least in Telugu. The displeasure is particularly with the Best Actor and Best Actress choices made by the organizers.

Every one expected Nagarjuna and Samantha to walk away with these awards for their fabulous performances in Manam but the organizers surprised every one by choosing Allu Arjun and Shruti Hassan for these awards with their performances in Race Gurram.

The organizers seem to have given ‘commercial aspects’ more weight-age than true merit in deciding the list. Manam still managed to bag awards like Best Movie, Best Director, Best Music, Best Cinematography and Best Lyric writer.

No Baahubali release in Japan

bahu12

On Friday we have seen several websites reporting the release of Baahubali in Japan. The rumours say the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film will be releasing with subtitles there. However Baahubali team had refuted these rumours.

“We would like to clarify that neither we nor our overseas distributors have sold the Japanese theatrical rights of Baahubali”, Baahubali makers clarified. Several Telugu movies have been dubbed in to Japanese and released there.

Some of our star heroes like NTR enjoy good following there. On the other side, Baahubali is all set for a grand release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam on July 10th. The movie is expected to have the widest possible release in all the languages.

The makers are expecting a 4000+ screen release for the movie across the globe. As the release date draws closer, the makers have intensified their promotions.

Naidu Playing Cunning Tactics On Section 8

Share

Vundavalli Arun Kumar

Former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar attacked AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for cunningly bringing Section-8 issue to the fore with an intention to protect his skin from the infamous Cash-for-Vote case and trying to portray his personal case an a burning issue between the peoples of the two Telugu States.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Vundavalli contended that Section-8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act was already in force in Hyderabad for the last one year.

“But Chandrababu Naidu, who was caught red-handed in the scam, was harping on Section-8 only to sidetrack the Cash-for-Vote case”, he said, adding that Chandrababu failed to perform as Chief Minister of AP for the last one year.

He also argued how the AP Reorganization Act will be valid if Section- 8 was not valid as being contended by the Telangana leaders. He said the Court will deliver its verdict on his appeal against bifurcation of the United AP.

“Then the Congress and BJP will have to answer me if the Court delivers a favorable verdict on my petition”, he said. He also made it clear that he did not join any political party after quitting the Congress.

Vundavalli further demanded that the Centre either make Hyderabad as second capital of the country or a Union Territory or make it permanent joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.

He said the AP Reorganization Bill in Parliament was not passed as per law and the legal fight will continue in Supreme Court.

She Is Best Supporter Again!!!

62nd Filmfare awards are here. This year Telugu film ‘Manam’ has walked away with the first award, as cinematographer PS Vinod grabbed the trophy for his terrific visuals he captured for the classic. And guess who turned heads with their award? If all the beauties are walking the red carpet with their glamour dazzling around, here is Lakshmi Manchu raising mercury levels with her awards.

For the second time ever, Lakshmi Manchu walked away with ‘Black Lady’ as she grabbed ‘Best Supporting Actor (Female)’ award for her role in ‘Chandamama Kathalu’. She has stunned the audiences by playing the role of super model Lisa Smith who lost her stardom and finally settles as a housewife. Impressed by her acts, judges have favoured this multi-faceted lady for the award.

You know what, this is the second time Lakshmi Manchu is walking away with ‘Best Supporting Actress’ trophy. Earlier she won the same award for her role in ‘Gundello Godari’. So, Lakshmi grabbed this award in a row for 2013 and 2014. Hope she scores a hat trick by winning another award for her best show in 2015 also.

Unmarried girls taken for a Ride by Bureaus

Marriages are made in heaven and despite the concept of live in relation growing in India too, many youngsters try to get their relationship to a favourable end with the institution of marriage.

Unlike earlier generations where relationships and contacts played key role in settling a match,in this fast paced world with no time for all of them, marriage bureaus entered into the scene.

Though many are successful in finding a right match, it is coming out that marriage bureaus are becoming easy target for spurious men to cheat women taking them for a ride. Police of all states across the country warned women to be careful while searching for matches.

Telangana cops too recently came with a warning that unmarried, recently widowed, middle aged women are becoming soft prey for crooks.Police say these crooks lurk in matrimonial websites for sexual affairs, one night stands and sexual gratification.

They try to impress girls and their family members by sending gifts, etc and even give them mental trauma blackmailing them after luring them. Police say not only women, wealthy men too suffered from illegal elements as gangs uploaded their women colleagues profiles before extracting lumpsome money from them.

KTR’s Punch to ‘Politician Pawan’

Share

ktr

The #AskKTR chat this evening has been quite an impressive display of the young TRS minister’s prompt replies with unexpected wit. Many enthusiastic fans have shot several questions at him ranging from politics, films, state’s future and civil plights and the minister was sporting enough to give instant replies to almost everyone.

In a question, a Powerstar Pawan Kalyan fan asked KTR his opinion about Pawan Kalyan. To this, KTR replied saying that he likes Pawan as an artist. To this, another fan asked KTR what he feels about Pawan Kalyan as a politician. Then came the most shocking and sarcastic punch from the TRS minister. KTR asked the questioner back, ‘Is he one? Didn’t know’.

Unfortunately, KTR’s sarcastic punch to the Janasena chief is something even many of Pawan’s fans would agree with, after all the deafening silence from the Janasena’s crusader of commoners in the states’ politics and burning issues. KTR’s sarcastic punch also gains more prominence following Pawan’s comments on KTR’s sister and Nizamabad MP Kavitha and also his father and Telangana CM KCR, during the Janasena Party launch a year ago.
