Shruti Haasan Exit from Dacoit Was Due to Scheduling, Not Replacement

The film industry is often marked by uncertainty and unpredictability, and the case of Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh, is a recent example. Even weeks after its release, the film continues to generate discussion, particularly around the replacement of Shruti Haasan as the female lead.
Addressing the speculation, producer Supriya Yarlagadda clarified that Shruti Haasan was not removed from the project. Instead, the change was purely due to logistical and scheduling challenges. She explained that Shruti was temporarily unavailable, and overlapping shooting schedules involving Adivi Sesh—especially with Goodachari—created unavoidable gaps. As a result, the decision was made based on practical considerations rather than creative differences.
Interestingly, Supriya revealed that Mrunal Thakur was actually her first choice for the role when she initially heard the script back in 2020. She even reached out to Mrunal at the time, and the two shared a lighthearted moment over it. Nearly five years later, things came full circle as Mrunal eventually became part of the project.
The producer also noted that the film faced multiple hurdles during its production, which significantly delayed its progress. Despite these challenges, Dacoit finally made it to the big screen, carrying with it a story not just on screen, but behind the scenes as well.
