Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, beloved for his iconic portrayal of Babu Bhaiyya in Hera Pheri, recently grabbed headlines with an unusual revelation — he once drank his own urine for two weeks to recover from a knee injury. While his statement triggered widespread trolling online, the senior actor has now responded with his trademark wit.
In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Paresh shrugged off the criticism, joking, “I didn’t offer them any urine, did I? Or are they upset that I didn’t share it with them? Maybe they’re thinking, ‘Yaar, he drank it all by himself and didn’t give us any!’”
Explaining further, he added, “This is something that happened 40 years ago. I casually mentioned it — why make such a big fuss? People just love creating drama over nothing. Let them enjoy themselves.”
When asked if anyone had personally questioned him about the practice or tried it themselves, he laughed it off, saying, “Many have, but I’d rather not get into that.”
Interestingly, Paresh first spoke about this earlier in the year, revealing that it was the late Veeru Devgan — renowned action director and father of actor Ajay Devgn — who had suggested the remedy. After Paresh injured his knee, actors Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa rushed him to Nanavati Hospital. During a visit, Veeru Devgan advised him to “drink your first morning urine — all fighters do it.”
To Paresh’s surprise, the unconventional treatment worked. His condition improved within 15 days, and doctors were stunned by the speed of his recovery. He was back at work in just a month, defying the initial prognosis of a two-month healing period.
Despite the trolling, Paresh Rawal seems unbothered — embracing both the oddity of his experience and the humor in the reactions it sparked.
