Speculation has been rife on social media and in sections of the press regarding actor-politician Pawan Kalyan reportedly returning the advance he received from veteran producer A.M. Rathnam for the long-delayed period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu. The film, initially slated for release on June 12, has once again been postponed due to persistent financial and logistical hurdles.

Rumors suggest that Pawan Kalyan returned the ₹11 crore advance he received nearly four years ago. However, sources close to the production have clarified that the actor has not physically returned the amount. Instead, he has expressed his willingness to forgo the remuneration if doing so would alleviate the producer’s financial burden and help expedite the film’s completion and release.

The ₹11 crore is reportedly the only payment the actor accepted for the project, and he has not demanded any additional remuneration despite the prolonged timeline.

Producer A.M. Rathnam is said to be facing significant financial strain, including outstanding dues to multiple financiers. Against this backdrop, Pawan Kalyan’s gesture is being viewed as a generous act of solidarity with the producer and a commendable move prioritizing the project’s release over personal gain.

While Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments have contributed to some of the delays, his current stance reflects a commitment to seeing the film through. Whether Rathnam will officially accept the actor’s offer to write off the advance remains to be seen.
