Pawan Kalyan’s “OG” emerged as the biggest hit of his career, nearly matching the worldwide collections of Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Despite its phenomenal box office run, the film fell short of breaking even in the Telugu states, largely because distributors had paid exceptionally high prices for the rights.
The film generated massive pre-release hype and continued to enjoy positive word-of-mouth after hitting theaters. However, distributors struggled to recover their investments, remaining far from the breakeven point.
In this scenario, trade insiders suggest that distributors are likely to offer significantly lower prices for Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming project, “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” directed by Harish Shankar. While this film marks the reunion of the blockbuster Gabbar Singh duo after more than a decade, expectations are tempered, especially since the movie is essentially a remake of a Tamil original.
Consequently, Mythri Movie Makers may need to prepare for comparatively modest offers from local distributors, despite the star power and anticipation surrounding the film.
