Petition filed in Supreme Court to remove Jagan as CM

The letter that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has written to the Chief Justice of India has not been sitting well with anyone belonging to the judicial community. Just this morning, the Delhi High Court expressed great displeasure in the letter, and also highly condemned the letter that Jagan has written.

In his letter, Jagan has accused Supreme Court sitting Judge, Justice NV Ramana of being biased towards the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu. He also stated that Ramana is greatly influencing the judgements being made by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

A petition had been filed in the Supreme Court, requesting the SC to issue a show-cause notice to Jagan. Now, yet another petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, by G S Mani & Pradeep Kumar Yadav. In their petition, the 2 petitioners have asked the Supreme Court to remove Jagan Mohan Reddy from office, as CHief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, for making defamatory statements against judges of the judiciary, and for undermining the overall independence and sanctity of the judiciary.

In their petition, the petitioners also pointed out that Jagan is himself at the center of 31 cases, as the A1 accused, and have asked the SC to remove him from office on that basis. In their petition, the petitioners have clearly mentioned that Jagan is facing serious criminal charges, including money laundering and quid pro quo cases, and is lowering the image of the judiciary by making scandalous remarks against courts and judges, and have asked the SC to take serious action against him for the same.
