The theatrical trailer of Amitabh Bachchan’s courtroom thriller ‘Pink’ is out and it seems to be based on the boldest subject that the patriarchal society has been suppressing.
In ‘Pink’, Amitabh Bachchan plays a lawyer arguing the criminal case of 3 women who are convicted of ‘attempt to murder’. As the case unravels in the courtroom, several layers regarding the dark crime comes out piece by piece. The three women might have been sexually assaulted by the men who are being projected in the court as the “victims”. The trailer provides a clear picture of how survivors of sexual assault become victims of law if at all they seek justice.
Bachchan’s character asks Taapsee, who is playing one of the three women, several sexually provocative questions in the courtroom. Amitabh Bachchan’s rustic voice, the razor sharp editing, the spooky mask of Bachchan and the bold subject make this trailer an instant connect.’Pink’ is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, who had earlier directed the 2006 National award-winning film ‘Antaheen’. Produced by Shoojit Sircar, Pink is slated for release on September 16, 2016.
