Piracy Strikes Thandel Again, APSRTC Buses Under Fire

Piracy continues to plague the Telugu film industry, with Thandel becoming its latest victim. Producer Bunny Vas recently took to social media to express his disappointment after a pirated version of the film was screened on an APSRTC bus. Sharing the vehicle details (AP 39 WB 5566), he highlighted how piracy severely impacts filmmakers and disrespects the hard work of the entire team.

Bunny Vas tweeted, “Once again, the pirated version of our #Thandel was played on an @apsrtc bus (Vehicle No: AP 39 WB 5566). Piracy harms the film industry and disrespects creators’ hard work. APSRTC Chairman #KonakallaNarayanaRao Garu, kindly ensure that a strict circular is issued prohibiting the screening of pirated movie footage in all buses across the state.”

This isn’t the first time Thandel has faced piracy issues. Soon after its release, a high-definition print was leaked online, and a local cable channel also aired the film illegally. The makers had previously vowed to take strict action against those involved. Additionally, another APSRTC bus (Service No: 3066) was earlier caught playing a pirated copy of the film. Following that incident, APSRTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao had ordered an inquiry into the matter.

With repeated cases of piracy emerging, the film industry is urging authorities to implement stricter measures to curb such violations. APSRTC is now expected to take stronger action to prevent pirated content from being played on its buses, ensuring better protection for filmmakers and their work.
