Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday emphasized that now is the perfect time to invest, innovate, and ‘Make in India’, spotlighting the country’s expanding opportunities in manufacturing, technology, and digital infrastructure.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, PM Modi highlighted India’s preparedness to tackle global challenges and emerge as a key player in sectors like semiconductors, mobile manufacturing, and data security. He pointed out that any disruptions in the global supply chain offer India a chance to provide solutions and strengthen its position on the world stage.

“To bolster India’s semiconductor capabilities, the government is establishing 10 semiconductor manufacturing units,” PM Modi announced. He also encouraged advancements in chipsets and other mobile components to support the country’s tech ecosystem.

The Prime Minister underscored the growing importance of data storage security and data sovereignty, noting that India has the potential to become a global data hub, thanks to its strong digital connectivity and affordable internet access — with 1GB costing as little as a cup of tea. He stressed that digital connectivity is not a privilege, but a necessity in today’s world.

Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi highlighted the need for a modern legal framework to support India’s rapid digital and technological transformation. He also emphasized the critical role of startups and innovators in driving growth, global competitiveness, and technological leadership.

“From manufacturing to electronics and semiconductors, India has immense opportunities and energy to lead the global technology landscape,” the Prime Minister said, reaffirming that ongoing reforms make this the ideal time for investment, innovation, and building a self-reliant India.
