Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Andhra Pradesh soon, reinforcing his special focus on the state since the formation of the NDA alliance government. Having already visited Visakhapatnam once, Modi has been actively addressing the state’s key development requests. As per recent reports, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has confirmed that Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh in the second week of this month.
During his visit, Modi will lay the foundation stone for a missile testing center to be established at Gullalamoda in Nagayalanka Mandal, Krishna district. This ambitious project, a priority for the Ministry of Defence, marks a significant step in India’s strategic military advancements. The location was initially identified during the previous TDP regime due to its proximity to the coast and high geomagnetic potential, making it an ideal site for missile testing.
With an estimated investment of ₹15,000 crore to ₹20,000 crore over the next five years, the project is expected to boost the region’s defense infrastructure and technological advancements. The site’s suitability was confirmed back in 2011, and land acquisition was completed in 2017. However, due to administrative delays, the project had been on hold. Now, following discussions between the state and central governments, Modi has personally approved the initiative and agreed to inaugurate the foundation stone ceremony.
This visit highlights the Modi government’s commitment to strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s infrastructure while also positioning India at the forefront of defense technology. The event is expected to be a significant milestone for the state and the country’s defense sector.
