One film that has consistently grabbed headlines despite not going on floors since its announcement four years ago is director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s cop drama “Spirit”, starring Prabhas in the lead role. The regular shooting was initially planned to begin after Sandeep’s Animal, but delays have largely been attributed to Prabhas’ unavailability due to his prior commitments.
Over the past year, fans have been eagerly waiting for updates, with rumors suggesting that Spirit would commence once Prabhas cleared dates after wrapping up projects like The Raja Saab and Fauji. However, no concrete developments had emerged—much to the disappointment of fans anticipating an explosive on-screen collaboration between Sandeep Reddy and Prabhas.
Now, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially announced that the highly awaited shoot for Spirit is expected to start by the end of this month. He shared this update during the Jigiris event in Hyderabad. While Sandeep is confident about beginning the shoot soon, it remains uncertain whether Prabhas can fully adjust his schedule, as he still has portions left for Hanu Raghavapudi’s war drama Fauji.
Having completed most of The Raja Saab, Prabhas can now focus on Spirit, but he will need to manage distinct looks and swiftly switch gears, as his character in Spirit is a complete departure from his previous roles. Fans will have to wait and see if Sandeep Reddy’s statement holds true, though it wouldn’t be surprising if the shoot is postponed to next year.
Meanwhile, the Spirit sound launch on Prabhas’ birthday created a strong impact, ensuring that buzz around the film remains high despite the significant delay.
