Pradeep Ranganathan’s upcoming film “Dude” is all set to hit theatres next week on October 18. Fans are curious about the story, and insiders suggest that the plot draws inspiration from the 1998 EVV Satyanarayana classic, “Kanyadanam”, known for its emotional triangle and moral dilemmas.
For those familiar with Kanyadanam, the story revolves around a group of bachelors who arrive in the city seeking work. Venkat and Vandana fall in love at first sight, but fate intervenes when Vandana ends up marrying Niwas. Discovering his wife’s true feelings, Niwas makes a selfless decision to unite her with Venkat, a storyline that resonated with audiences for its heartfelt emotions.
“Dude” is said to carry a similar emotional core, updated and reimagined for today’s audience. Directed by Keerthiswaran and starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamata Baijju, and Neha Shetty, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
Set against a contemporary backdrop, the film promises to blend vintage emotions with a modern twist, keeping viewers engaged with its heartfelt narrative. Once released, it will be interesting to see how closely the content of Dude aligns with the spirit of Kanyadanam.
